Magic not only the greatest point guard, but the best all around team player nobody could run a team to a tee like the Magic Man,Bird a close second, then a close third between Lebron , Michael and Bill Russell. Magic could do it all,he could give u 40 or even 50 pts if push came to shove but he knew that is not how you win championships, you win by consistently making your team offense come alive where all cylinders from 1 to 5 are scoring. So the formula for the Lakers was not for Magic to do volume shooting but rather to come up with a 20 pts+ 18+ assists 8+rebounds ,2 steal game,That usually translates into Laker dominance.
Magic Johnson not only the greatest playmaker, but the best team player, the ultimate floor general. He could do it all, play all 5 position, however Worthy was at 1/2 speed and Scott was not all there .Lakers and Magic throught his career knew the formula for winning was a consistent about 20+ pts 16+ assists 8+ rebounds 1+ steals .That is team championship team ball,if he had to score 40 or more that means Lakers struggling on the offensive and defensively also.Magic was simply the best all around team player from 79 till about 90.
Just watched the 1991 finals magic vs this version. This one clearly has more energy and is more assertive. The 1991 version was 230 lbs+ and don’t think that was a good weight for him as he was spent in 4th quarters and lumbered up and down the court. I’m suspecting he had HIV already too in 1991. Either way, i’m blessed to have had him play for my Lakers, but still bothers me with how one-sided that Jordan-Magic finals was. I think I would’ve been ok with the loss if it was him trying to put the team on his back. But not with how passive he was especially with Pippen on him
If you watch the rest of the 1991 Playoffs though Magic is awesome. When Worthy and Scott got hurt in the finals the Bulls just swamped Magic with Jordan and Pippen.
@@mikefolknation2851 he is, but I think just a simple adjustment of having Drew or even Tony Smith bring up the ball would’ve spared his legs. Riley did that in 1989 often and even had AC bring up the ball because Dumars and Rodman applied full court pressure. The younger Magic could handle it without getting tired. If Riley stayed, I think Rolondo Blackman would’ve been a perfect pickup for what they lost when Cooper wasn’t re-signed
I think Larry Drew and Mychael Thompson just fizzled out in 1991. I think Dunleavy should have used Tony Smith and Airball Campbell more in the Finals. Ultimately though, I still think the Bulls win in 6 games or less.
@@mikefolknation2851 agreed. They were hungry similar to the 89 Pistons. You can’t deny a hungry seasoned team which is persistent to win it all. Mike knew about that in 98 when he retired. You need a lot to play for when everyone is gunning for you
Magic could’ve done this all he wanted…wasn’t his objective. But idiots who weren’t alive see a BR reference page and think they know about players before their time.
I wonder if there were 24hr debate shows back then they will call Magic out for not having a "clutch gene" because of that horrible shot he took at the end🤔
Magic shot way better than Ben with more moves and shot 84+ percent from the ft line and Magic midrange and 3 ball was good especially 89 90 and 91. Ben Simmons isn't close.
Magic is underrated as one of the top finishers in NBA history.
Everything looks so perfect, I love how close the crowd is and the camera angle makes the players look more realistic if that makes any sense
So thankful that videos like this are out there! On top of being the best passer ever, he could score big whenever he wanted to
Magic The Greatest point guard Ever
Although Lakers lost Magic proved he wants to WIN !!!!!
Best guard to ever lace them up
Sports Fanatic best point guard* and second best guard
Magic greatest point guard and second greatest player of all time.

Lakers never should’ve changed their uniforms.
All the new ones look ridiculous
Kevin Johnson was unstoppable in this series.
one of the best point guards in NBA history
Moral of the story, if Magic is scoring, the other Lakers aren't and that leads to losses.

I've heard some people say Magic can't score.
Two losses for Magic's team. Usually it's a bad sign when he had to score 40+ Not enough talent to overcome those Suns - a very good team!
I'm sorry, Rambis doesn't look correct in a non Lakers uniform.
The Lakers' first playoff series loss to a Western Conference opponent since the 1986 NBA Western Conference Finals against the Houston Rockets.

El mejor armador de todos los tiempos, Libra por libra, y retirado de la NBA a destiempo, Pero Ya no tenia Nada que demostrar, lo habia echo todo.
Total Missmatch for other PGs...
Man I honestly don’t see how Magic was beatable.
I wonder if there were 24hr debate shows back then they will call Magic out for not having a "clutch gene" because of that horrible shot he took at the end🤔
Good point lol
Your mom lacked a clutch gene not going to Planned Parenthood
Magic was fantastisch Like always but the Lakers Team dident Play Wall in that series ther ist only one magic
This was the season after Kareem retired.
And Cooper's last season
Magic got popped this year
Magic didn't get popped; he didn't have a decent team anymore. No Kareem and a 1/2 speed Worthy wasn't enough.
Great performance... ruined by Worthy tho
This was nice but KJ was cookin Magic all five games. And this was the begining of the end for the Lakers Dynasty.
Alltime game poor finish dude open in the corner still best pg
He’s basically Ben Simmons with confidence
Ben Simmons can serve Magic some Gatorade. Other than that, Ben Simmons doesn’t belong in any sentence with Magic Johnson.
