The problem with your new rv for urban parking is that it is tooooooooooooo big, as soon as you pull up into some of the sort of places you used to pull up the net curtains start swishing and the neighbours think a pikey village is coming to town. I know your previous rv wasn't exactly small compared to a van, but it was still below the radar for a lot of people to get distressed if you parked it down their street. Good vid as always.
I`m hgv and when i`m hi-ab `ing I often have to park the truck in residential areas to take my 45.Same as Darren ,you have to be really picky where you do it cos a bigger vehicle defo draws lots more attention.
As always a good fun video. As a crawley resident it was fascinating to watch you driving around. You even drove past my house. 😊 keep up the good work 👍
Hi Darren, I’ve been watching your recent acquisition with interest. Now I’m not trying to be negative and having once owned a Chieftain tag axle, 8.7 mtr long, and even longer when we towed our car, I could understand your motives for wanting to own a land yacht, especially as it’s also your home. But as you found in your previous van you will eventually accumulate even more stuff. I’ve been there and got the t-shirt… So after nearly 2 yrs of subscribing to your channel I did wince a little when you upsized… We went the other way 4 years ago to a V-line and find it a much more manageable sized van. There are 2 of us + a dog so it’s been a compromise. I think you’re a lovely guy with a fun personality and wish you all the best… but I guarantee that once you get this out of your system you’ll go go back in other direction. Either purpose built or self build. Loving the videos and you so sending my very best wishes 🫶🍻
Everyone is different & Darren, as a lorry driver, is obviously completely comfortable with the bigger vehicles & absolutely loves the extra space for entertaining. I think he'll stick with it & maybe even go bigger for the next one.
I think it's perhaps more a case of this country not being equipped, unlike the continent, that is much better set up and welcoming of campers full stop ...
My mate does van life and just parks on any random street, outside folks gaffs with other cars. Everything in me wants to belittle and rip into him, but I just can't man. Because he absolutely nailed it! Not a single knock of bother, not even once. Middle a London 😂bold as brass.
Probably more efficient to look at a colourful map of the area the shapes of the roads themselves are a tell tale sign it's an estate, Roman and Victorian roads tend to be straight then start getting curved early 1920s and 1930s estates. Industrial estates and retail usually marked. Can use street view
Hey pal, been watching channel for months, love your easy lifestyle xx can you recommend any camper van insurance companies that will let me do full time van life thanks ash xx
Loving land yacht daz are you putting your urban motorhome plate off old van on this one ?what nice partnership with ecoflow and testing out other motorhomes with them
I defo think Darrens wise staying well clear of schools and It`s not just the kids being a problem. I just think your much more likely to get a knock up and a move on + the locals would be watching you like hawks.
Not unless we are bothering anyone. We did once during lockdown. Parked legit in a carpark and some nosy old biddy who worked on the council got police out to us and had the barriers to the car park brought down to stop 'the rest of us' parking up. She obviously thought we were an encampment. The cops were cool and said no problem and we stayed all night fine. But we have done loads of urban in our 7.5m without bother. They don't care unless you are breaking the law.
yeah I've just bought a Mercedes Starline 640 after having my Fiat 644 written off I parked it outside my home on the grass I was fitting a dashcam I had the window open this bloke pulls up calling me a gypsy and I was obstructing the view I laughed and told him that I parked here in the same spot for over a year with my 644 and that was longer hahaha
Daz. My motorhome is 8.7m and I wouldn't even consider parking in a bilt up are I'd be better off parking in a lay-by out in the country away from a built-up area, saves getting vandalised or use a CS site for a five to seven pound and which will also give you access to water and dispose of the black waste. The amount of driving around you to must cost you a fortune in diesel and the stress of trying to find somewhere to park .
no, derelict doesn't mean unowned though empty factories & pubs are fair game. I've spent much happy time in the carpark of a roadside café that was "between owners".
Basically he is saying its shit. Its got a terrible turning circle. Not many english people call stuff 'pants' a rarely used slang word to say something is crap, rubbish, no good
I dont understand why you keep saying not to overstay your welcome - arent the streets for everyone?? If parking is allowed, whats the problem? The steeets dont belong to the locals. You dont have to whisper around because you have all rights to be there. Its a thing with people who live in vehicles. Inferiority and fear.
It's just having some self-awareness and not wanting to draw unwanted attention really. If you keep to yourself you'll go unbothered. Sadly "a thing" with people who live in vehicles seem to be to just behave like a bellend so we get height barriers and parking restrictions implemented everywhere. Wouldn't go amiss if more people thought like Daz.

Cheers Daz. Gotta say enjoying Mevi's editing 👍

Have been living in a T821 for ten years and have never felt comfortable wild camping in the UK... plenty on mainland Europe but UK no chance.
Can not wait to see where you are going to end up and for all the more videos there will be
Well done for getting out of that tight spot. You are the MAN 👏👏✊
Do you use a,drone to do height filming
It's a DJI Mini 3 Pro 😎
Hello Darren. Another enjoyable video. Go to Cornwall. Great big laybyes off road especially Truro. Keep happy steve

Do you find it scrubs the rear tyres around urban areas Darren?
Great video Darren, thanks for sharing 😁👍
The Guru of Stealth. Only you can find the spots for your mini mansion 😎🙏
My only tip is to downsize to a 5.4m Peugeot boxer to be able to park almost everywhere in urban environment 🤣😊😊
Fantastic job Mevi.

You could have parked near tilgate park in Crawley mate or near horley or Charlwood some great places to park up
Nice video mate
Great edit and content. Was it hard to edit? I have heard that the 360s does take a bit of time to understand but you have done a fantastic job.
Hey pal, been watching channel for months, love your easy lifestyle xx can you recommend any camper van insurance companies that will let me do full time van life thanks ash xx
Yeah I always got the impression the layout in most 6m vans with overcab and captain seats took full advantage of its length.
Those housing estates look like someone's nightmare!
An idea is to sample life in a particular size van to see if it does practically work for you but that usually means renting.
If everyone had this mindset there would be no height barriers or overnight restrictions, having respect for everyone is key.
What drone do you have?
Hey Darren, opposite the K2 Leisure Centre there's a great layby big enough for you...know the area well
Loving land yacht daz are you putting your urban motorhome plate off old van on this one ?what nice partnership with ecoflow and testing out other motorhomes with them
What MPG do you get
Yeah watch out for high schools you can usually recognise them at home time it looks like a mass escape from a mental hospital!
Great video as always 👍 Love everything you do. Entertaining and educational 🙂 Great to see you living your best life.
This guy has an awesome beard, what a legend. Keep up the great content!
Did you say Blink cameras you use?
Great stuff mate.
Welcome to Crawley Darren, My home town. Loving the new ship. Thanks for entertaining me over the years. You know what day it is 😂
I defo think Darrens wise staying well clear of schools and It`s not just the kids being a problem. I just think your much more likely to get a knock up and a move on + the locals would be watching you like hawks.
The 360 worked well. Do urban campers get "the knock" from the authorities in the UK like they do in the US?

A front view through the windscreen would let us see better why you do or don't like the spot
Crackin video Daz 👍
Do you regret getting the land yacht?
i can recommend ireland you would love it
Avoid Creepy Crawley go to Horsham instead 👍
Great video
If u feel like a 'Land-yacht Urban Stealth Challenge' why not come South Africa! Be great to meet ya!
great video many thanks
Your weight loss is going well mate
What do you do after 9am or 10am surely you don’t drive around until the next park up ? ❤
Darren, have you ever parked up & stayed in or near Stevenage?
Yes, and the turning circle of my ducato startrail is pants as well, lol
yeah I've just bought a Mercedes Starline 640 after having my Fiat 644 written off I parked it outside my home on the grass I was fitting a dashcam I had the window open this bloke pulls up calling me a gypsy and I was obstructing the view I laughed and told him that I parked here in the same spot for over a year with my 644 and that was longer hahaha
These Daily Mail types are getting more common :-(
I'm surprised you're not looking at verges?

I WOULDN’T Park There!
Suppose you could park in driveways overnight of derelict houses for sale on the net
no, derelict doesn't mean unowned though empty factories & pubs are fair game. I've spent much happy time in the carpark of a roadside café that was "between owners".
@@alanhat5252 Yeah it is trespass but sure owner wouldn't usually mind rather than the plot unoccupied
Neighbours usually know which houses are empty and for sale.
@@cornishhh Who opens their curtains after dark ?
This is suburban, not urban. Why would you go to housing estates?
Enjoying your videos mate, keep enjoying it
How do you keep your fridge cold when driving???
Modern high-capacity electrical systems like Darren's can easily cope with a 'fridge.

Morning, Im a South African...'pretty pants', please explain?
‘fairly rubbish’ or ‘quite poor’ 👍
Basically he is saying its shit. Its got a terrible turning circle. Not many english people call stuff 'pants' a rarely used slang word to say something is crap, rubbish, no good
Pants is UK slang for "not good". Think underpants.
Maybe you'd use the work kak instead?
Pretty, in this instance, is used as an adverb, to mean fairly, as in fairly rubbish, or moderately, as in moderately crap.
I think 'pants' is a word we've borrowed from American TV, it's a swear word that can be used on non-swearing TV shows (& by extension, UA-cam).
Morning 😊
Need an electric 🛴
And that is longer than 8.5 meters long, lol
Or even 8.2 meters , lol
