I feel like you guys always say you’ve been up 24 hours (minimum lol) but I appreciate your efforts and the enthusiasm is fine haha. The scenery and Rons cooking makes up for any lack of excitement 👍🏻 the only thing I’d personally wana see more of is some challenging off-roading 😎
Well, I just got off work (7am). I'm heading out to the woods to make another video and stay up for hours at a time. Thanks for watching. We will try and find some harder terrain.
Hey Kevin, Do a video on Hooking up your baofeng to the firestik, setup and channels to use as walkie talkie. You know I bought one cause of your videos... Kissimmee Out!
Excellent video! Your trips always looks like so much fun. Really hoping to join y’all for the meet up at Ginnie Springs in July. I put myself down for PTO on 07/17.
Thank you! I really hope you can make it to Ginnie. It's a great time. It will be hot in July, I think I'll buy a quiet generator for sleeping at night.
My property borders Hopkins Prairie there are some beautiful bears out there we got about six of them that come by if I walk up to the top of my property look down over the Prairie I can usually see when there's people camping in the Isle of Pines, chest can barely see the fire at night lot of Toyota guys go there
@@OverlandFlorida yes unfortunately I'm sick with the coronavirus right now I've had it for 10 days I actually live in Jacksonville but my cabin is in Sportsman's Haven off of 19 backs up to Hopkins Prairie if it wasn't for this sickness right now I'd be out on the pontoon boat, I have crack jokes about this virus and I'm telling you now he do not want this I'm 50 years old and it is kicking my ass you guys enjoy the trails you may see my Jeep out there it's gecko green says the Iron Man on it I'm always in those woods
Enjoyed the video as always. When you get some more gray hair, you'll probably not do those 24 hour days any more, so enjoy them while you still can :) I like ur buddy's water valve on the water can, that's a good idea, thanks
I really wish people would take a First Aid classes. I would add a small tablet and pen. To write down info. The who, what, where, when and why. The more info you have you can pass it on if need be.
Just found your channel, subbed. What are some other primitive camp sites in the Ocala Forest? Also I have a 2003 Tacoma Prerunner that has lasted 14 years so far, taco love lol.
There's a few. You mainly just have to drive around and get a feel for whatever part of the forest is your favorite. Then spend some time on the trails and make your own spot.
I'm headed to FLA from north GA next year for a month of fishing and camping; I get the time off from work after 15years with the company. I'm binging all your vidyas and making a map. I'm thinking March. I'll be in a 1963 Fairlane ranch wagon and a 16' tracker boat; no 4X4 but all the amenities of a nice truck. how can I send you a 1 page word document showing my route for you approval and recommended alternates? Great channel!
Subbed. Awesome channel. How is the brush there? Is it pinstripe city? I live in Montana but am spending my winters in Gainesville. I have a 93 Subaru Legacy with a 4 inch lift that I’m considering taking there.
I’m a newbie to the trail riding and exploring I just bought an Outback. We live in Apopka but my wife and I are wanting to go explore some of the ONF. One question I have is I’ll be on stock tires they are not all terrain tires, but should I air down my tires when driving some of the trials.
I highly recommend it. I love this bumper. ARB summit series. You can find it for around $1500 shipped. Already powder coated, winch ready and they include the lights. No other company has all those features for under 2k.
Happy new year! Amazing content brother! Makes me want to go explore more of Ocala. I was out camping yesterday to Hopkins Prairie but it is hunting season and I am from Greece so I did not know anything about this. The whole night it was really sketchy with people driving around until very late and making lots of noise. What do you do for your security if you are doing dispersed camping there? Is it generally safe to do dispersed camping in Ocala in your opinion? I would love to explore more but it's usually me and my girlfriend and I do not own a firearm. I would love to hear your input on the subject. Best wishes for the new year. Cheers!
You are generally very safe out in the forest. If you do not own a firearm, then camping in a large group is a safe alternative. I'd worry about bears more than kther humans. Dispersed camping outside of campgrounds is illegal right now because of hunting season. You must be in a designated campground. Outside of hunting season, yes you can camp in most of the forest. Welcome to Florida!
Thinking about heading up there. I used to run some sections on a rally with my Sentra. How often did you encounter sugar sand, etc? I'm in a full size Dodge RAM van with limited slip and 4.10's. Thoughts?
Do you have your ham radio license and if you do how did you go about getting it. I’m not willing to get in trouble without it so I wanna get one before I get a baofeng
@@OverlandFlorida thank you, i’ll be headed to ocala national forest very soon. i’ve heard one of the springs is closed during winter for manatees, do you know which?
That’s what I’m talking about!!!! Great video
Thanks Mike.
You guys created a really smart set up with all of your camping equipment. Well done.
Thank you.
Came here to see about Ocala National Forest and ended up real hungry! Thanks guys,
Thanks for watching!
I want to get into off roading/ overlanding and seems like the place to go for a first time! Thanks for the video!
You're welcome. I'll be doing a lot of camping out there soon.
Cool to see all the places I always go out there!
I just wish it was a little closer
@@OverlandFlorida
I know. Usually when I go I spend at least 3 nights.
We were at the prairie this weekend! Had a blast!
Did you use the phone? Lol
We just spent the weekend out there and managed to spend almost the whole time without seeing anyone.
That's a nice feeling isn't it?
Live and play in all these places. Surprised we’ve never ran into each other lol. Great video!
Thanks! I'll be camping there often once it cools down. I'm sure we will run into each other.
Cool video Guys, I want to get into over-landing too. I am in Lutz, just north of Tampa. Your videos make it look so easy!
We have a Facebook group. Link in the video description.

Overland Florida yeah, July in Florida is pretty dang hot! How about the bugs there at the Springs? Are they real bad?
Not usually. The water is flowing and not stagnant. But bug stray can be your friend in the evenings.
I see you have the Lifedoo portable firepit. They sent me one also. I think it pretty much sucks as far as airflow and keeping a fire going
Yeah, it's not the best.
We just dump charcoal in it to cook with.

Great video. Where is the campsite you were pointing out next to the prairie?
Hopkins Prairie
Okay, who is this thin non-asparagus cooking Ron impersonator??? :-) Great video, we appreciate your dedication!
Thanks for watching!
Where do you find the primitive camping sites? Just from driving around or is there a website?
Just drive around or look at Google maps.
I’m going to Ocala tomorrow. Where is this located out there?
Hopkins Prairie

I saw you have an antenna on your bumper, is that to boost that handheld ham radio or do you have a cb too?
No CB. You can get an adapter and hook it up the the HAM radio.
@@OverlandFlorida oh okay beauty 🤙 cheers
I’m so jealous
Where did you get the shelves in the bed of your truck? I want one of those to truck bed camp
Those are home made.
U think a 2wd Tacoma could handle this adventure? No lockers
I am also curious about this^^^
Probably but I would bring a come along just in case they’re 40 bucks at harbor freight
Do have a video on Ron's trailer? If not who makes it?
I have a few older videos of Ron's trailer. It's home made and the builder is no longer making them.
is that the established hopkins prairie campgrounds? How can i find that place?
This is not at the established campground. This is primitive along the edge of the prairie.
Can a 2 wheel drive pick up truck make it through the trails you took?
Yes, 2wd would be fine.
Thinking about heading up there. I used to run some sections on a rally with my Sentra. How often did you encounter sugar sand, etc? I'm in a full size Dodge RAM van with limited slip and 4.10's. Thoughts?
Ton's of sugar sand!
I'll be coming up weekly until the 2021.
You'll get pretty far in that 2wd van. Just don't stop or slow down in the sand.

did you need an OHV pass ? or permit for car camping?
No you do not.
I hope Ron never sells that old Tacoma it's a big reason I watch lol
I don't think he will sell it. We all like that truck.
what kind of animals should I watch out for where you are?
Bears.
What do you mean you got into trouble with tire not being on concrete? Who yelled at you?
The employee that rides around on the golf cart. You have to be parked on the hard top and not on the grass/dirt.
What do you use the tablet for?
It's basically just a big smart phone.
Where's the link to your rear bumper?
It's a brute force fabs rear bumper.
Where do you two work such long hours anyways?
I work for the county. It's just 12 hours. Lots of jobs work rotating 12's. We only work 14 days a month.

For this exact park how do you find out where you can overland camp?
It's a national forest. You can find a map online of places you can legally primitive camp.
When are you going out again
I go out twice a week.
whats the GPS to the white phone. lol
FB or IG me and I'll send you the location. It's really easy to find.
do you have to own a truck to go to these campgrounds/springs? or are these trails optional?
You don't need a truck. A car can get to all the springs. 4x4 is highly recommended if you want to cruise the trails and get to primitive campsites.

Google maps. Or we just drive around and explore with no maps.

what no asparagas?

Is this area doable in a stock cherokee trailhawk ?
Yes. When it's dry, it's very accessible.
