As good as cellphones are at photos and videos dedicated cameras still win.
I got a GoPro this past year for my kids baseball games. I can hang the thing on the backstop and film the whole game. I then take the 4K videos and share with the team so that all the other parents can just enjoy the game too without getting out their phones for bad videos from the bleachers.

13 min video about a fatal flaw that he doesn't even mention until the litteral last second of the video, this video could have been 60 seconds and that would include all the info. The fatal flaw that everyone already knew about GoPro is the overheating and not the buissiness model, Insta360 is proof that the buissiness model is sound and its the overheating that killed GoPro.

I don't think overheating is the fatal flaw, nor the point of the video; that's just the latest hiccup.
To me, the real problem is that GoPro was always a product -without a- with a tiny market, and as a company it should never have been worth as much as it was.
It was so darn cool and aspirational, and they managed to play that game with the yearly updates, so we all bought into it; but reality finally caught up.
      That's your 60-second summary.

Overheating losing footage recording in the wrong format for some reason, breaking themselves all sorts of problemsand then I found DJI. I use their drones the Osmo action now the Osmo pocket three. Your analysis is so spot on. I use my action cameras primarily for B roll, so I'm really not using them as intended as an action camera. I now use DJI's cameras exclusively because they work, and there is a whole ecosystem around them, DJI mic etc. The nail in the coffin for me and GoPro was their unreliability. I lost so much work because the GoPro froze up, or just quit. I wish GoPro had continued in the drone business, and had put the quality into their products that DJI has.

The dealbreaker for me with going with a DJI Osmo action over a GoPro was the cold-weather operation. All of the GoPro’s that I’ve owned quit when the temperature drops below zero Celsius, they just simply won’t record after being out in that temperature for more than five minutes, my Osmo action can go in -10 or -15 Celsius without an issue.

GoPro’s downfall can be attributed to their belief that they were unbeatable and that no one could match their products. When DJI released their action camera, it introduced serious competition, followed by Insta360 with their own innovative offerings. GoPro became stagnant with their tech evolution, failing to adapt quickly enough to the rising competition. As a result, they fell behind, losing their dominance in the market.

I would say declining quality and lack of innovation were GoPro's downfalls. As of 2 years ago, phones were water resistant (not waterproof) to a lower standard than action cameras. Phones are also far more fragile than an action camera. And at over $1000, who wants to take a phone in a dusty or underwater environment anyway? I use my phone camera in the rain, sure. But for underwater shots? Nope. Too pricey and fragile. For drone shots, DJI is hard to beat.

Seems like pretty obvious things they could and should fix. I wish this video had a conclusion that explained why they don't fix these issues? Editing I understand, but why can't they make a great camera, that doesn't overheat and is polished from bugs? Seems like some parts of the story is missing here. Otherwise a good video.

I just got back from Chengdu China and I had a chance to ride on a Chinese EV MPV. That car much nicer and more luxurious than Toyota Veilfire/Alphard. To top it off it's so much cheaper probably half the price. Also payments are all through mobile phone, hotels have robots to deliver food for room service. The West should stop sulking and start innovating again or end up being the next go pro.

Where is the action cam sized camera with IBIS and interchangeable lenses? Seriously, Back Bones proved it is fully doable, and there is clearly a market (though admittedly a small one). Sony, please! DCS RX-0 was the template, give us the real deal!

Exactly! I bought a GoPro 10 for the same reasons. Now I have an Insta360 for the same reasons. One day I will learn.😉

I bought a gopro. Well my friend bought it for me. I used it once and now it doesn’t work. I don’t have a guarantee. And now its just sitting there, not working. But I didn’t like it much anyway. Although I think it might be better the the sealife cameras in the quality of the footage. But the fully closed casing of sealife is just too good to pass. Its easy to maintain. And the red colouring it has, is great for underwater. so I end up using that.

So true. I've purchased the 13 creator kit and it sat in my bag for a few months. Nice to have, but if you're not filming dope shizzle. Is there any point? Plus my phone films as good and better in poor light.

I've got a Mini Pro 3, should use it more but I do take it on road trips just in case and yes have used it. Was looking at an action cam for fixed camera stuff(which I probably don't need) but not sure about which ones to get until this video.

But there are still fanboys who GoPro I had a five which ended up in the bin I had an eight which about two months after I bought it I sold for £100 which was 300 less than a paid for it just to get rid of it so I would never pick it up and try and use it again.
I use insta 360 and DJI now all of which work seamlessly and perfectly but it does make me laugh that people still bring out the latest GoPro and try and compare it to other cameras that just work every time.

After deciding to do my own review I am not convinced without a doubt china dji/insta are literally paying people to make these videos. I own all the cameras and the action 5 is soft on the edges and the insta is made by insta. The only decent non go-pro camera is the x4 but I fell for the influencers and am returning the action 5. It’s not a better camera.

This video is what is wrong with UA-cam. All fluff, no real answer to its own question, 13 minutes (which I didn’t watch) for nothing. Look at the comments and hopefully learn, don’t do this, it’s useless for viewers. I won’t be back.
