    4:40 this one has it all. A cute celebration. A terrible on the rocks pun. And a legendary remark "not only did she hit it really poorly, she hit it really poorly"

    Arnold Palmer once made a hole in one on the same hole, with the same club, 2 days in a row. When asked about it afterwards, he said "No odds". "It's impossible". That man was an American treasure. Rip Arnie.

      @@dbodooley Because it is ya twat. The odds are astronomical. I'm sure he couldn't believe he did it and didn't mean it arrogantly. And when you've hit 2 hole in ones on consecutive days you've earned a little arrogance anyway.

    • @sammy89716
      @sammy89716 3 роки тому +15

      @@dbodooley he's not making it out of arrogance, he's actually saying theres a good amount of luck that goes into it, theres hundreds of good golf shots in a tournament, but how many aces? He's essentially saying the amount of luck for it to happen as it did does not exist, aka it should not have happened, but it did. For reference, odds of a pro golfer hitting a hole in one his 1 in 2500, for it to happen on the same hole, on consecutive days is 1 in 6.5 million (roughly)

    • @howardbaxter2514
      @howardbaxter2514 6 років тому +13

      It is, and it isn’t. If the camera is zoomed in properly, you can easily track the ball all the way through because it never leaves your frame, along with the fact that the camera would only be zooming out since the ball is coming towards them. That being said, with clouds, trees, etc. it is easy to lose sight of the ball from that.

    • @howardbaxter2514
      @howardbaxter2514 6 років тому +22

      I would know this from doing camera work in following a baseball. Personally it is a lot easier to follow a ball with a camera in the outfield than the camera behind Home plate. Camera behind home plate is easier in terms of panning. There you don’t have to pan left or right so much, unlike an outfield camera.

    My first eagle was on a public course. It was a par 5 with the green backing-up against a chain-link fence, with a road on the other side of the fence. The green was elevated about 40 feet above the fairway, so if you were 10-40 yards off the green, you couldn't see your approach land on the green. I hit a decent shot onto the green. The two kids I had been paired with, neither of whom I knew, and I walked onto the green. My ball was nowhere in sight. I thought it must have rolled off the back-end of the green, into the scrub along the fence. The teenage boy and I go to the scrub and start pushing it aside with our clubs. Five minutes later, still no ball. Where the hell is it? Finally, the teenage girl says, "it's in the cup." My first eagle, and I didn't even get to see it happen.

    My favorite...I thought 0:52 should have been in the most unlucky category. You think it's going to be an amazing shot, just in that the ball would have gone in if it didn't get blocked by the ball, but amazingly still goes in, wow, good stuff 👏

      Yeah, I don't get why people say it's not a sport. The literal definition of sport is: "an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment." That's what golf is.

      I played 4 years of H.S. and was later a Teaching Pro at Club here in Tulsa, OK. Notice the people that say it's not a sport. They are the same ones speaking like an offensive lineman that's been pounded in the head for a decade. But, all they've been doing is sitting and drinking beer watching people get pounded in the head. Irony.

      I don't mean to quibble - I'm an avid golfer myself. Not good, but avid. Anyway, the thing that separates golf from other sports is that in golf you do NOT compete against others, you play your own game. There is zero interaction with other players. There's no defense. There's no offense. You just play your best round and everyone else does the same. Then you compare scores and the lowest wins. Even in match play, there is nothing you can (legally) do to make it harder for your opponent. So by the literal definition, golf is at least a different kind of sport. And speaking of which, I'm going to play tomorrow at Ladera GC in Albuquerque, NM if anyone wants to join me.

    1 in a million? More like one in a trillion.

    • @topneorej
      @topneorej 6 років тому

      White, mathematically it's not incalculable and you would be surprised how often it would happen. Every time it hits a rock, it has to bounce in a certain direction; it could hit the water (ends there), go back on the grass, or hit another rock.
      Give it a 65% to hit water, 30% to hit another rock, and 5% to bounce back on the grass.
      First bounce: 30%, second bounce: 30%, third bounce: 5%.
      I.e. 1/3 times 1/3 times 1/20 = 1/180 which means there would be a change of one in 180 for this to happen.
      Varying in percentages gives other odds, but you will see they will not vary spectaculary.

    • @fosferus
      @fosferus 6 років тому

      no, from the trajectory and speed at which the ball is headed, the odds that the face of the rock is turned the right way to direct the ball at its current speed to the face of another rock which faces the right way, etc. until it hits the green is so much more incredibly slim than that.. there are so many more variables than "30% chance"

    • @topneorej
      @topneorej 6 років тому

      Dan, I gave a 5% chance for the ball to return back on the grass, but even if it's 1%, still the chance is 1/900 which is a little bigger than 1/1,000,000,000,000 as suggested earlier;-)
      Besides, the simple fact that you have three cases on video already suggests that the odds are not that slim.
      Just estimate how many shots into the rocks have been seen on TV in the last 50 years, and in three of them the ball returned.
      So, mathematically: 3/number of shots that hit the rocks.

      1 in a million x 20 clips = 20,000,000 total golf shots to choose from.
