- MPGomatic.com puts a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro V6 (2LT) to a grueling test drive in search of maximum MPGs. ] Full Review: www.mpgomatic.c... [ The new 3.6-liter V6 Camaro draws plenty of attention on the street, but does it hit its marks?
2010 Chevy Camaro V6 Review Summary: With an efficient 3.6-liter V6 engine, the 2010 Chevy Camaro 2LT is a rock star with a conscience, easily capable Our V6 Camaro test car turned more heads and elicited more positive responses on the street then any vehicle we've tested in the last year, with the possible exception of the Dodge Challenger.
Here it is 10yrs later and I'm sitting in my 2011 synergy green RS/2LT 6speed Camaro watching this video,,I've own my camaro exactly one yr and I luv it!!
These cars are absolutely beautiful and a total blast to drive!!
God.. I LOVE this car. Give me whichever model, whatever engine, I just love all of them.
I’m sixteen and just purchased a 2010 Camaro 2LT fully loaded with the Transformers package! Only thing it doesn’t have is the V8 but im so happy to be able to drive it soon.
Even though it's not fast it's so damn beautiful.
MPGOMATIC is one of my favorite reviewers! Keep up the good work!!
This is a great looking car I saw it in a parking lot the other day. They look best in a black finish
@ShaquileBROneil Thanks for the kind words and support! =)
Not bad! Hoping to review both the V6 and V8 Mustang ... have my fingers crossed that I can get at least one done before winter sets in ...
I had a 2010 Camaro 1LT, it was nice as hell! But after awhile the lack of V8 torq! Stock vs stock I have beat many New edge Mustang GT's. During 2010 when this was made the Mustang V6 was not better at all, they still had the old 4L 215 HP engine, your thinking of the 2011 3.7L V6 with 305 HP
my dad has one of these cars and it is freakin amazing
I like how you said that seeing a Camaro on the road is like catching up with an old friend. I believe every American who lived during the 60s and their successive generations can relate to this car more. I sure have. For me, it was catching up with an old friend I knew long before I was even born.
just got one
+Tony Dragonn Congrats!
Tony Dragonn how it run
How you liking it ? Really considering doing the same
Tony Dragonn congrats homie👏 What year n how much was it?:)
How’s it?? I’m considering it
Oh man, this one was FUN ... but the V8 SS was even better! We didn't have that one for long enough to shoot a full review, but we're hoping to get it back. I was able to get solid highway mileage numbers out of the V8, as well as the V6.
er, yup ... they scored 5.9 with the manual and 6.0 with the automatic. Our automatic tester was roughly 6 or 7/10s slower. Still not sure why. :/
@mpgomatic well i didnt mean to make it sound like i was asking you to pick for me, pardon me if it came out like that. Thank you for your help man i appreciate it.
Yep. It's in the video at 2:12 or so ... Manual mode lets you use the tap shift buttons (psuedo paddle shifters).
Thank you for telling me what I think. You saved me alot of time trying to figure out what I'd be wishing if I put a turbo in the V6 Camaro.
@TeadTheBag - I can't choose for you ... It really all comes down to personal preference. Test drive the Challenger and Camaro to see what fits you the best (and to see if they have enough storage space). You might also want to compare the two against the Mustang and Genesis.
Volume is way too low on the video.
Adjust the settings.
@LastTransAm2002 finally...i always see comments on a v6 video saying fag get a v8 or fag get a manual but shit like u said a v6 with 312 hp pretty good gas mileage i dont see how anyone can hate this v6 or the 2011 mustang
hahaha wtf is up with the random rocks being thrown in front of the camera? thanks for the review, it was very informative.
Can't wait till I get mine. 5 years!
Did you get it?
Depends how many allocations your dealer has. I ordered back in early May and mine is getting built this week according to my dealer.
@TeadTheBag Our mileage testing negligible differences between the automatic versions of 2010 V6 Camaro and 2009 V6 Challenger (with the original 4-speed auto), when driven with a light foot (and regardless of the official ratings). Practicality depends on personal preference/specific needs. For instance: if you need a big trunk and a roomy back seat, the Challenger gets the nod.
The automatic is slower of the line because it has torque management. In short it limits the amount of acceleration at the wheels briefly during acceleration.
@TheRiseagainstfan The fully loaded 2ss is actually about 40 to 43 grand depending on where u r. The 2LT RS is actually about 35 with effects kit but u can get one without it for about 30 if u know how to reason with em.
@TheRiseagainstfan Hey, we didn't order the car with these options ... it just showed up in the driveway that way. =)
in regard to the height issue; i'm 6'2", and though my LS package Camaro lacks a sunroof, my hair is almost brushing the headliner. Also, with the seat placed where i need it to drive, the backseat becomes useless, and the pass through panel won't fold all the way down. although my car is fun, i'm afraid i'm going to trade it in for either a Cruze Eco or Focus 5 door soon, because it is simply too impractical to own as an only vehicle for me. other than that, I love it!
@mpgomatic I use two front speakers, and I use firefox. Trust me, my speakers work fine. I watched other videos on youtube and they sounded loud. Ur videos are awesome but most of them are too quiet.
Just a rule of thumb for racers... if you drop 1lb from your tires you are effeictively dropping something similar to 7! lbs off the sprung weight. The biggest bang for the buck has always been dropping unsprung weight (aka suspension, brakes, wheels...)
Yeah and that was with 4 people, and a trunk loaded full of luggage too. And with the cruise set at 74MPH lol, Not too bad at all.
Personally, and I mean no offense to you or the Mustang, but I want the fuel economy of a Honda and the power of this Camaro. This Camaro has both, so that's the best of both worlds for me. =)
Not a muscle car guy, but i must say this car is beautiful by all standards.
I have 2010 with 80 thousand on it stick 3 and 4 gear is fun to drive in around town .the tack and speedometer panel started acting up around 66,000 miles I had to replace it free 1 + 2 cylinders had a Missfire needed to coils GM replaced it free. And two plugs . It was leaking clutch fluid under the dash near the clutch pedal they replace the tube bled it and I don't know what that was around 70 thousand . The clutch pedal is becoming a little high so I guess I got to do the clutch soon . I like the car a lot i recommended just buy it second hand definitely fun to drive .it has 83 thousand as of today it burns maybe a pint of oil in 7 thousand miles . its the 2lT Bose sound leather seats I have a 19 inch rim 245 50 19 I like a little rubber between me and the road
@mpgomatic Which one got better gas mileage Challenger or Camaro? Which one is more practical for driving on a day to day basis?
Base Camaro comes with a V6 not an Inline 6. It should also be noted that the Automatic is also a 6 speed.
If your going for maximum mpg, you shouldnt have the 21 inch wheels (easy 2mpg loss)
Love this guys voice
you HAVE to understand that these huge wheels slow down the 0-60 (yet top speed will be higher) 18 inch wheels ) although still big) will have a better 0-60 then the 21, 20, and possibly 19's.
(lower rolling inertia)
@TheRiseagainstfan I've had the opportunity to spend time with both the manual and automatic V6s, as well as a manual SS. The manual V6 is the most balanced and the SS is just a beast ... I gotta say that it was my fave of the three, but definitely took the most effort to drive. :) I grew up driving a big V8 manual with manual steering, no less ...
@mpgomatic Alright so i like the Camaro but I also need storage cause I travel a lot. So based on this which one would you suggest? Oh, and which one had the more comfy seating?
You should definitely review a Mustang V6 auto too. We just drove from Albany to buffalo NY and average 30mpg or so. I think I'ts rated for 26 so that's pretty good.
A 2ss fully loaded costs a little under 50k. So i dont know what your talking about.
somehow i dont think that v6 outperforms my 350 i swapped into my 89. it is great performance for a v6, no doubt but i dont think a v6 will ever have the torque of a older 350 v8.
would much rather have a mustang v6 especially a 2013, but would love a v8 over the v6
@stang1100 Yea like 122 on the Ls and 146 on the LT. SS series is 155. They havent tested the car aerodynamically to raise it
@mpgomatic Yeah but doesn't the car shift for you if you redline? So it really isn't that close to a true manual
Man, I can't pick just one ... I dug 'em both. I need a big barn and boat load of cash to go with it. :)
I've never been a Camaro fanboy, but I do like this new one a lot. Some exterior details strike me as tacky and cheap though. Like the black, unpainted grill and airdam, the chrome bezels around the tail lights (why put ANY chrome on a sports car!?) and the faux louvers on the quarter panels. That's gag worthy. The retro interior on the other hand is perfect. But $23k for a sports car that takes 8sec to 60. Gimme a break.
@mpgomatic I totally agree. You're awesome.
I only have 2 complaints with this car, in my opinion the girll should be bigger and have either a 4 or 5 speed option but its kickass enough those are more suggestions then complaints
maybe by december if your lucky, janurary, or february latest! I know luckily my dad got his from the chevy place that was there! they were going out where i live.
@Live2Fly94
LS is 118 I maxed it out on my LS. other speed you got it right. The only reason i get this 2010 camaro is because, mustang is like a MeToo car.
I'm pretty shocked at how damned good the V6 engines are that GM are churning out now. If someone told me ten years ago that the Americans are going to be building naturally aspirated engines to a European standard (not trying to be patronizing) in a decade, I'd have laughed at the prospect.
Now they're quite viable. And much cheaper than their European competitors.
@jnsleeper1
Depends which engine :) if your going for v6 i say camaro if your going for v8 i say charger hemi or challenger hemi
I am thinking of getting one of these next year. I can not believe im seeing 2010's for under 7K... but the fucking onstar shit. I would have to go!
Yeh the 68 hd less HP but a hell of a lot more torque.
does anyone know if the automatic versoin of this car has a mode where you can switch it to manual??? i wait an answer plzzz
ill just put a turbo on it . and this v6 will go faster than the v8 without costing to much money
I have never seen a car that doesn't look good in that color.
Which tires and transmission?
I would like the review to include handling, suspension, and a more holistic treatment of the interior ergonomics. This is an awfully American perspective on the car, concentrating on how fast it goes in a straight line and a kind of pedantic recitation of the gizmos and cup-holders. What is it like to drive...on roads...with curves...in the driver's seat behind the wheel?
great review
how long is it gona take if i order a camaro ? lets say if i order it like in 2 weeks?
i think he was talking about the 1969 camaro had the inline 6
Would it be possible to also give SI units for people from the rest of the world?
That's an interesting idea. It could be added to the description of every review, but it would take time to do the research.
@randomjoe333333 lmao Its ok though, its a fair trade off, seeing as you have all the holdens.
I wonder if insurance would kill me
MrBullya it’s pretty cheap on the v6 actually
Nice car! Still, I don't know how you can consider this car Retro as he says it is.. cause it really isn't.
normal rims from the RS model?
@J3FFY28 I didn't go to the Dealer is why. It was a suprise for me on my 16th Birthday. I came home and.. There it was lol.
Can somebody tell me how this car handles in the rain/snow?
Thanks!
they should do away with the v8's all together and just turbocharge the v6's. it would make more sense. better mpgs, more power, and lighter weight
nice sound
you know i've never heard you say anything bad about a car you've reviewed...
*Hands down the Best color for the Camaro if you plan on buying one. The Egnine looks simple enough, its like the back of a big Playstation 3 or something. Unfortunately it wont last long like Toyota and Honda and your spending all that money trying to maintain it. It's sad. it's why GM is Failing now. The rob you, say you have quality and after the 100,000 mile warranty, your car is more then liable to break down and fall apart like a clowns car.
Is the v6 still considered a sports car?
@mpgomatic i wish one would sow up in my driveway that way.
@j3ffy28 your eclipse is like brians from fast and furious(1) cool one of my favorite cars ever! So much character!
@PuppetKing - Thanks for the feedback! What kind of computer/speakers/web browser are you using?
But will it blend?
Nice comments
V6 v8 did you guys see how long it took to go from 20 mph to 40 it took like 3 secomds I own a 2000 maxima and I guarenee it would blow this camaro away! If you wanna get ur moneys worth get the v8!
5.9 for the manual 6.0 for the auto
But wait...they started coming with the 4 cylinders...
should i get this or the charger
i looked at one that was black, It looked like a cop car :) i want one!
@BigBob1552 i have a 2010 v6 camaro and according to my insurance it is a sports car !lol
@coolerdude44 Other reviewers may take joy in whining about trivial stuff. We point out significant flaws when found (as demonstrated by this review), but our focus is different than the crowd. This country need to eliminate its dependence on foreign oil and create jobs. That said, folks should buy and drive what they want to ... while learning how to reduce those weekly fuel bills.
im soooooo getting one
@AwakenedCrysis "my friends" dont talk unless its yours
i dont like the 'ground effects' thing
drop a turbo kit in it and you'll still be wishing you would have bought the v8.
OMG It's Mike Portnoy! :D ahaha
@J3FFY28 Wow thats a great batch of Cars you have had though, I wouldnt mind having any of those cars :D
Thank You
@krazyjk022 The V8 weighs more than the V6.
@LastTransAm2002 Spot on!
@TeadTheBag -Not to worry! =)
i have a 2ss an i love it
