    hello... I have over 20 years of experience in all types of flooring (tile/hardwood, sand finish, lvt, all types)... subcontract work, on large projects in New Jersey/ new york.... We have a team of 20 or more people, if needed. Now it's time for me to make my own BIDS... what do you suggest for me to start?
    Your videos are the best I've found in recent months... thank you

      As a subcontractor you are often only a part of the GC's larger project. Not sure what you mean by making your own bids, as you must have been doing that for the last 20 years. If you mean more independence from working with GC's, then you might look at establishing relationships with commercial property management companies that can involve you in their RFP's. Not sure if there is any market for a service company in your trade, but a service company in one of the mechanical trades is a great source of stable annual revenue and for pull through work.

      We suggest that you review some of them to see if they provide leads for what you want. Some provide free trials for a short time, maybe try those first. We're not sure which ones are best for a Glass Shop. Good Luck.

      You definitely need to know how to put together an Estimate in order to run a profitable construction company. Estimating is the foundation of a successful company. If you don't get your cost correct, you won't be in business very long. You must have some experience. Use that experience to bid on projects that you understand and build from there. If you can afford to hire an Estimator than that's a good place to start or maybe partner with someone who understands estimating. We wish you the Best!

      You have listed some of those that are required, such as when hiring employees you'll need Workmen's Comp, Insurance and the requirement of any employer to pay the taxes and provide payroll services for the requirements of Local, State and Federal agencies.

      Not familiar with west Texas, we're in California, so we're not sure which ones has better coverage for your area. It's probably best to try one that allows a free trail, or at least allows you to browse through up and coming RFP's. Good luck with your business.

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  Рік тому

      We haven't reviewed them for concrete subs. You're best to review some of the sites to see which ones are best for you, as some specialize in Government work. If you bid on State and Federal projects then you could focus there, or if not bidding that type, focus on private work. Also you can look to be part of the JOC program which provides some good leads and if you secure a contract they are often good for 1 to 3 years. Check the following link on how to become a supplier/concrete contractor for Sourcewell, a Database used by Governments, Municipalities and Universities for securing contractors and supplies to keep their operations running. www.sourcewell-mn.gov/sourcewell-for-vendors

    Hey I’m starting a commercial insulation business me and my brother. we would insulate Plumbing and HVAC Ducts and pipes, I don’t mean to sound dumb but what website would be the best for us to find jobs or leads I’m so new to this anything advice would help please

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  Рік тому

      Your best bet is to start marketing to your local HVAC and Plumbing contractors. This would be the lowest cost alternative. Also, these companies prefer to do business with people they know, so it's best to get to know them in all the areas where you want to do work. It will of course take time to get established, as starting any new business is its most difficult at the beginning when your brand is unknown. May be you could host a lunch and learn for their sales people, and present your company along with some knowledge about insulation and the code requirements for their area. Become the area expert. Good Luck.

      We focus mostly on the Mechanical Trades, so we're not sure which one is best for your type of company. We suggest reviewing some of the websites and pricing to see which one might work best for you. Some of them have free trial periods or month to month pricing which might help you decide without having to spend too much money. Good Luck with your business, we wish you lots of success.

    Hi,
    I do construction cost estimation work for US and Canada. I have some links with general contractors and subcontractors and making BOQ for them. They just send me project docs drawings specs etc and i do takeoffs and price them and give them a total proposed project price with all the building materials, labors, equipments etc. Now i want to bid the projects directly on my own to make more money so which site do you recommend me to start bidding ? I want to bid drywall, metal/wood framing, masonry, concrete, paints projects.

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  3 місяці тому

      We're assuming that you have all the required contractors licenses to bid those trade categories. We specialize in the Mechanical Trades, and would not know which one is the best in your situation, but some of them have free limited trial periods, or very little investment to give them a try. Try one that sounds like it fits the trades that you want to bid. Make sure you have the bonding capacity for any public works project.

    Hello, which website do you recommend for electrical work en California?

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  4 місяці тому

      We haven't used any in California. Your best bet is to see which ones have a free trial period, and test them out. They're always updating their services, so it's impossible to keep track of what each offers. They often offer the same projects, so just find one and give it a shot. It will either work for you or not. Look to build relationships with General Contractors in your local area to provide a good source of projects. Try to avoid bidding when there are too many other bidders, as you'll just be wasting your time and money. Be strategic about bidding projects, as bidding cost time and money. It's all about building relationships and providing good service. Find a local General, Mechanical, or Solar Company that is looking for a good source for their electrical work. If you build relationships, you won't need a subscription to any of these services, as you'll be too busy serving your relationships. While building relationships you can temporarily use these services to find work, and find some of those relationships. Good Luck.

    Has anybody had any good luck with these lead generation sites? I’ve read and heard nothing but bad news but that was years ago. I know things change as the years go on for either better or worse.

    • @MEPAcademy
      @MEPAcademy  2 роки тому +3

      I've personally have never used them,, but they can be a good source for a growing company to find projects to bid on that fit their target market. Once you get established and have enough Owner or General Contractor relationships then you shouldn't need to rely on a paid source for leads.

    • @c.m.2747
      @c.m.2747 Місяць тому

      I used Connect, and they have a lot of leads, as they bought some of these other sites out. 2k+ to get registered with them.
      As far as the jobs goes, there's plenty, but these are not jobs for beginners. Lots of very large projects, (if not most of them), that require deep pockets or loans bc the agencies don't pay right away. They're on 30-60-90 day pay out. It depends.
      With that said, just about every other big job is gonna be listed. So yeah, these sites are needed. You can make connections, but you'll always want to know what else is going on and coming up.
