Lyrics:
I gave my heart
And soul to you, girl
Didn't I do it, baby
Didn't I do it, baby
Gave you a love
You never knew, girl, whoa
Didn't I do it, baby
Didn't I do it, baby

This song never gets old.
Lucky I lived when true soul existed.
Yep me too!!!! The seventies was the time I left school, learned sooooo much about life, lived to tell the tale and soul music woke me up , comforted me , inspired me , made me yearn and so much more ❤️❤️❤️❤️
all we got is yb and sexy redd
Thanks to Jackie Brown for reviving this classic and reminding us what good music was and continues to be.
Exactly! Great film...had lots of great moments and I feel Tarantino's only film to have characters like in Pulp Fiction. and phenomenal song.
“You can't trust Melanie but you can trust Melanie to be Melanie."
- Ordell Robbie
It’s interesting seeing a degradation in arts like music these past years. I am not old. But for some weird reason I love 80-90 music.
❤
I’m 71 now and was 20 in 1971. I’m a white guy, a musician and a Beatles fan, but great music stands the test of time and this is one of them.
This is a classic up there with a select few. It’s sung with such great emotion. The chord changes are fabulous and creates those great song surprises. Melody and vocal are awesome. Melody can never be overrated. One of only a handful of favorites of mine.
Colour doesn’t come into it…you’ve got good music taste or not. You are cool 👍🏼
Lead singer William Hart passed away today .
Gorgeous song.😍

RIP Thom Bell. the composer and music producer of this classic. and so many, many more BIG HITS.
A. Classic. Hit.
Thank God for music like this.
Thank the Lord for the Devil's music? I reckon we should as he clearly knows what he's doing, or he wouldn't have made fallen angels in the first place or even invented Jedward.
Thank you God 🤩🥰😍
Early 70's soul.... Nothing like it... ❤❤❤❤❤
One of the best songs ever recorded
Hello Jeanne how are you doing hope you’re having a great time with your family may God bless you and your family
Mos def! It's totally everything, no doubt!!!!!
Rest in peace, William “Poogie” Hart!!! Your voice was heaven-sent.
❤ DELFONICS ❤
2024. Still. Listening
AND me too in January 2025! That album came out when I was 6 years! I had a crazy crush on William Hart! ( The one in the black turtleneck. So cute to me! Then the Jackson 5 came out and l saw Michael! It was over for William! Now I'm almost 62 and William and Mike are gone on to a better place. I still love both! The 70's music was and IS still amazing! ❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
RIP William Hart of the Delphonics, one of the best soul groups of all time. Not enough accolades were attributed to them, IMO.
We truly lost a legend . RIP William Hart
It's a fact. Very underappreciated these groups are.
They were a massive band !
Under appreciated? - they were not so rest easy and thanks for your comment in any case because it was kind x
It never is! If I hear about The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys one more time. The more that the media say the names of such group it cements the thief of the music and that cash🤑🤑🤑🤑
True...imagine a date to the show...imagine the backseat on the ride back
Keep that 45. They were awesome. My ex husband brian dee humble sang all the backup falsetto notes God is good
Brian Dee Humble is amazing. God is good.
Let's hear it for ex-husbands!
✅💯
Wow!!
🥰
1970. Junior year of high school.... I still remember Lalita Brockington.... Have mercy.!!
"I didn't know you liked the Delfonics."
"They're pretty good".
Love them we need more music like this. This is real Love. Real voices.
Man I love that movie. Nice reference
Here after watching the movie
Forster was a gift from God
Dang which movie is that, its so vivid
I almost forget this absolute gem! We don't hear this kind of emotional vocal harmony anymore.
My mom died 3 weeks ago and this was the music that always in my life tied me to her. I needed to cry to let loose of the pain this helped me.
I'm so sorry Dawn. She is looking down on you, forever with you sweetie, I believe in this cuz I KNOW my daddy is with me every day. Your mom raised you right Dawn 🌹
@@terrywalter1655 Thank you for your kind words. The amount I know about Motown music I thank her for everyday. I can't thank her enough for my love of music of all kinds
So very sad and sorry Dawn. Bless you and your dear Mom , music from my childhood and memories of my mom loving her soul music. Your mom is in your heart always .
Oh im so sorry for your loss. My deepest sympathies go out to you and yours. Bless you 🙏🏽
So sorry for your loss. Wonderful song. I'm 71 and grew up with beautiful music like this.
Their songs stand the test of time! I'm 71 and still enjoying, and occasionally shed tears when reminiscing the 70s 😢! May they rest in peace.
My husband introduced me to the Delfonics' music even though this song was before my time.
Best. Era. Ever. I shed tears too. If I could go back, I would never leave.
I was a baby then, a true classic. To think, the songwriters were writing tunes to pay the rent and eat, never would have guessed they would be enjoyed for generations! Are the members deceased!
I hear ya... when music was music....
I remember this song my god father used to play back in 1976he's in heaven and I dedicate this to Mr Clarence Jackson ❤❤❤
It just dosent get any better than this.
Graduated HS 1970 in Maryland...so close to Philly Sound...it was so good music...kids today need to hear this wonderful music!
I agree...they would probably give the side eye though. This music is FIRE 🔥 anyway!!!!
Grew up just outside West Philly…this as an AM Staple….
At 79 yrs it still sounds good..
at 39 it always will!
The younger generations don't no what they missed out on when it comes to the real ballads of the late 60's and early 70's.
16 over here listening to it anyway🤷♀️❤️
@@flowerpot3787 Awesome! 😊
When they acquire the life experience, this song will be there for them.
And songs that made your soul sing and your heart happy.❤
I still have my original 45rpm record I bought of this great song. I was 18 years old when I bought it and I'm 71 years old now. I still love this song. Classic 😊

A good soul never gets old 💪
Thats a blessing
If memory serves, the first I heard this was in the early spring 1970 on my parents' AM clock-radio. It's hard to believe this was almost 55 years ago.
This song is Heavenly
"Many saints of newark" brought me here! This jam is endless! 🔥🥃😤😎
When things was pure
Sooo heavenly
I’m 16 and this is one of my 70 year old aunt’s favorite songs. So glad she exposed me to great music❤️

Listen, absorb and love it kid. This is where the real stuff is 😉
There will be nothing like this ever again, learn it 😅
flowerpot: I'm 70 years old like your aunt and we heard a lot of good music when we were teenagers.
You truly have an open mind (and great taste). You carry hope for the future 🙏
I love the French horns in the intro! I played French horn in high school, and I love that sound.
I played the french horn too. I love the sound. I wish i stay with it

Nearly two and a half years after watching "Jackie Brown," THIS will always be my biggest takeaway from it. A certified classic.
I’m with you 100% on that! I agree entirely!! Only slight difference being that it was 10-15 yrs ago for me, not that it really matters any... But YES- Discovering this incredibly good song is my very favorite part about the film itself. Beautiful melody, vocals, lyrics, instrumentation and arrangement, EVERY THING. ❤️ Best.
I first watched it for the first time this year and the song is a staple of the movie.
bloodstone - natural high, is also great from that OST
This song replaced any dialogue needed.
Best movie Tarantino ever made.
I cry when he lets her go.
Bad move, Max!
I m 67 and loved this song the day I heard it back in the 70s, I can never grow old whilst listening to all the great tunes from back then, songs today just don't compare.
4 wheels move the body.
2 wheels move the soul. Music moves the heart .
P crawshaw 2023
De que ano é está música?
Now we've got the group, Silk Sonic. Bruno Mars is bringing back great old school soul music.
yeah they really don't.. .wish I was around back then
Peter, I'm 67 also and all I can say is...DITTO!
I agree to the 300th power but back then we all assumed the great songs would keep coming.....they stopped around mid to late 80's
Old school at its finest. So many memories.
No such thing as old or new school. That's bs. Just great. I was a young boy and years later this is still the shit bomb.
Memories. My 6 ex-Air Force veteran uncles were alive, my mother and my father were alive, my 3 cousins and my ex-marine brother was alive. Young people, spend time with your loved ones, time passes by fast.
Thank you Tarantino for your support to the next generations👍🏽

There’s nothing wrong at all with 60’s Soul and R & B. Saw the Delfonics a few years ago, support to Mary Wells. Brilliant night out.
Hauntingly mystically gorgeous tune.
The way the melody dips, bends, caresses the ear and the perfect way they sing - pure artistry
I got told off for sending it to one of my sisters as it's too catchy / an earworm she could have lived without lol :)

The Mighty Mighty Delfonics Forever!
I'm only 43, you mean to tell me in 1970 this wasn't a #1? What was?
Yes, I agree. It should have gone to #1. Still a damn good song!
Yes. It should have been #1. But again, back then, unlike today, almost every week great songs like this one were released as singles and not all unfortunately could have reached #1.
This record did go to #1 back in 1969-70 I was 19 in 1969 remember well and brought it
