Just got mine, this beast looks wayyy better in person !!! Mean aggressive look, loving it! I don’t care what credits say, it drives better than a Pilot and Telluride
They just got this exact same model, color, in at my dealership. The front grille looks a thousand times better. I will be buying a Highlander in the next few weeks. I wish the limited came with the same grille. Looks so much better. Thanks for the review.

@@brodiwheeler7583 The grille on the xse is unique to that trim level only.. all other trims have the same grille L Le xle limited and platinum.
Bill Kincaid I was referring to your question about the Heated mirrors/wiper de-icers... I know about the grill differences.
Just grabbed a Black XSE with the red and black seats. Absolutely love it, obviously.

The look of a suv is subjective. The thing i don't like is horse trading interior amenities for exterior styling. If they are trying to fit a price range, I would suggest going back to the drawing board.
Bird’s eye view should have been added as an option!
Heated rear seats heated steering wheel and ventilated front seats also should been added
It’d be nice if Toyota gave it more aggressive gearing. The V6 likes to rev, but the gears are tall sapping performance.
Thanks for the great review. I own a 2019 Highlander SE in the same color. My biggest complaint is the lack of low end torque. The engine seems to hang in high gears and it really takes a pedal to the ground to get the thing moving. Can you please comment on the low end torque/acceleration in comparison to the previous gen?
We just purchased a Limited...if only it had the exterior aesthetics of the XSE 😄

Good review. Honestly, not a fan of the XSE dual grill. The bottom air intake is ridiculously large. Yes, it brings more attention to the vehicle but not in a good way. Based on your review it doesn't seem like the improvements warrant it over the other versions. I appreciate your objectivity and being one of the first to review the XSE.
Thanks Edward. Yes for the price I think there should be a little more given on the inside but this is by far the best looking Highlander in my opinion.

Looks nice. Toyota has been competing in this rough SUV market. Many to chose from. This Highlander nears $50k fully loaded, in your opinion wouldn't a 2021 Lexus RS350 be a better value? They are priced similar but one has definitely more luxury features. To spend 50k and not get all leather seats standard is a tuff pill to swallow.
Yea, but not the fully loaded RX, you can't get that for 50k, that the base
RX350 is smaller even if you go with the RX350L. Also $50k is base for RX and you don't get all the luxury features. So it really depends on what you're looking for. "Normal" cars are getting so good, it is getting hard justifying paying more for a luxury car.
Toyota is trying different things. Unfortunately Highlander has been lackluster in sales since 2014 and can't really change pricing without affecting their current lineup.
They priced higher just to say we giving you 4 thousand dollars off then BOOM they sold a car for 40 thousand dollars with cheap quality. They will learn soon like other brand . Why Hyundai, Kia, Subaru are doing better:? Cause the same problem poor tech , quality and better fresh style back in 2016 . Toyota have been always cheap shit. I have never own a Toyota, Hyundai, Kia in my life.

Great review but I wish you had taken the car on curvy roads to see how it handled and if it had reduced body roll.
Not a lot of curvy roads by where this dealership is unfortunately.

I have kids that grow an inch a day, deciding between the Sienna and KIA version. Test drove the highlander, the 3rd row was really disappointing.
3rd row is for hobbits, skip this car. I saw a video of a Kia hitting a wall that was 8 feet away from a dead stop. The kia was completely obliterated - from the hood there was steam and leaks everywhere.

It’s a Tacoma without a truck bed. I have one and it’s reliable and that’s all it’s good for. No X3 M but it’s gonna last way longer.
Will it be available with the hybrid motor?

I have the 2019 SE sport. I will make sure the next vehicle will have AWD. I also learned captain chairs are you not safe if in an accident especially for children. I prefer the roof rails crossing over the vehicle I am this vehicle I have the front grille is all black the off black onyx color looks dark grey. It just throws off the colors of black. And the button that pops though rear window open is not available anymore which makes it more convenient if a female is shopping with her kids you can just put the groceries over whatever and instead we have to wait out there the way The Times are because of all this unemployment it will give a kidnapper or robber the upper hand to Jack me in the car and take off . The vehicle I have is also the exact same color as the one and this video. I would never put someone in the 3rd row really on any suv there too far I have a speaker system basically everything except for what the pilot has automatic powered side view mirrors where the whole thing moves in not just the mirror. I will be looking into a Lexus for this year. I believe are the considered the same family with Toyota or they work with Toyota. 20" tires are fabulous. Your video presentation is very detailed information.

Dude.... Dominican taxi drivers use this car as uber and lyft an put 30k miles Year on these Toyota's.. they are the most durable, reliable, cheap to repair...it washes the floor with the Honda pilot ..u buy this Highlander, u got a car for 15 years easy...rain , snow etc...

Steering isnt to my liking....Honda does the best with steering and response. Seats on all the new toyotas are stiff and uncomfortable. Not enough cushion.

Three things to watch out before you buy highlander
1. Can’t take a full tank of gas
2. Wind noise from driver side view mirror
3. Not as composed as other suvs in the segment

I love the exterior design.. the interior was completely disappointing. Whatever material that's covering the steering wheel feels cheap, (soft-tex?) and the adjustable/telescoping steering wheel is underdeveloped and lacks full customization placement. Even worse, they took away the extra thigh support adjustable pillow (I'm 5'9 and I LOVE this feature in my 2012) and the seats overall just weren't comfortable. 3rd row is completely useless, can't open the back glass in the rear any longer.... overall I feel they took away some good basic functionality and replaced it with a lot of "tech" stuff that doesn't matter a lot to me. I like to DRIVE.... and I didn't feel that this car handled any better than my '12. Was really hoping it would be a little more fun and connected to the road, especially with the 20" tires, but alas, I'm going to have to keep looking elsewhere.
I might be saving more money than getting a Lexus RX350L.

"Birds eye view".. pffff. I learned to drive in cars with out any cameras or sensors. Back up camera is helpful, birds eye view for me is not important.
You rankd it 100??? But it has no birds eyeview, panoramic sunroof, cooled seat etc...

More use of plastic on the exterior.
Why is a big deal made about the front end and other exterior...it is all plastic. Cheap looking plastic. But when you have to replace it for any reason, the price of this plastic is beyond what anyone would believe. The seats look like they were designed and cost approved by an accountant....sad.
