    Suggestion: If you put a piece of foam under the paper when you are stamping your image, it will come out a lot cleaner and more detailed.

      Also a piece of foam board(it is almost like poster board,paper with a lil later of foam material betweendoubble sided poster board .They created the poster board to be stiffer ,not to bend or rip when hung up..It has a hotoress finish to draw on..*Hotoress is smooth in artwork for writing ,lettering, markers,fine straight lines.. etc.*Coldpress is a bumpy texture created to hold paints,charcoals ,blending media..Alot of displays make lg size cutouts of people etc..) cardboard,as it is less likely to slide around..

      You can also use a brayer to spread the ink out evenly on glass or other flat surface and then use it to coat the surface of the stamp. You can do nice color bleeds and mottled effects with the brayer and multiple colors.

Now here I am being shown your page.......it has been a beautiful and welcomed distraction for me. I’ve known nothing of the Thames, so learning new history has been highly educational for me. Go ahead n laugh because I said “new history”. I also commend you for all the work that you do and share with us! I’m impressed that you take the time and record your findings with the museum, especially those Roman boots! My mother and myself are fossil hunters of the Gulf shores. Her and I are both artistic and adore your work. ALL of your art is provoking, moving, historic and TIMELESS! Please keep doing what you do! Does anyone even try to imitate that quality of design on the ordinary and mundane objects used around the house? Maybe in Britain, but not in the USA anymore.

    Travel sized ink wells. That’s my guess. You wouldn’t be able to carry a large bottle of ink but you still want to correspond. 😄 I’ve seen some bottle videos in the US where they use a sharpened stick to dig stuff out of packed earth without damaging it. You can also overlap some stamps on the block to give it a cool look. Distressed. You can stamp pages of the rubber stoppers and add that to your Etsy store as Ephemera and people like me who use stuff like that in their papercrafts will buy them. Stamp them with “permanent” ink(Ranger is a great brand) #PADLOCK

      Well to be fair the opium content was just way too high for children, a small dosage would be fine, as stuff in opium like codeine and morphine is still used around the world for pain or in cough syrup, because opiates are harmless to the body, it's withdrawal and overdose that causes the problems, opiates pass through the body not doing any damage, it's the drug war that has brainwashed into thinking any drug that gets you high is doing damage, when for example marijuana is probably one of the most useful drugs known to man, yet sadly in commonwealth countries they haven't legalised it, has they done so, there wouldn't be so many people dying and have mental health problems because of those "spice" synthetic cannabinoids, drugs are tools, when used correctly they can be a blessing, but when misused they can be a curse, my guess is that because of its high dosage, I'm sure some adults figured out how strong it was and were taking it themselves

    Using such force with giant shovels and forks don’t you run the risk of breaking more awesome finds than if you would use a more gentle approach?

    • @Sifinds
      @Sifinds  4 роки тому +4

      It can happen, but most bottles are stronger than you think and quite thick glass. Most broken bottles have been broken at the time of being thrown away - or under the pressure of the earth. It's a happy medium of force and moving enough soil to find something

      Back then there were a lot of using dangerous substances in medicine. Here in the US pioneer women became addicted to opium and cocaine that was used in concoctions for various womens problems. As a result many ended up instentutionalized.

      @@woodrose50 that reminds me, in Oregon during this time period there was a classical Chinese Doctor named Doc Hay who worked in John Day, Oregon. He was fully trained in traditional Chinese medicine. He became the expert doctor everyone went to because he was really good at treating infections and could do surgeries safely (due to doing common sense things like boiling his surgical instruments to sterilize them and using herbs effectively). This was before antibiotics. The facility he operated out of, Kam Wah Chung, is still in existence as a State Heritage Site. For many people at the time it was a choice between Doc Hay and the quack "doctors" that filled the West, wise people chose Doc Hay!
