I've been asked a TON on what I will be maining for The War Within so I wanted to go over my gameplan for what my main healer will be for Raids and Mythic+ along with my thoughts on what other healers I will probably be playing a lot of!

Can’t believe you’re maining warrior. Would have never guessed.
Still waiting for the surprise twist when Jak decides to switch to tanking.
He's going to reroll to blood dk. It's the only healer he doesn't run.
@@wwhite2958 we’ve definitely seen him open a bdk vault at some point
@@kayladecant7332 haven't seen him run blood dk before
I used to in the past. Think there’s some oldddd videos on this channel from WoD of me tanking mythic mannoroth as bdk 😂
Restro Sharman for me is the most fun and engaging to play. Whatever happens I always feel there’s a button I can press to help the team survive. Really looking forward to following your journey in TWW
Before watching this video, I am guessing definitely not druid.
😂
Yea mythical raiding resto druid with starter build 😂

@@mattisjouy392 druid is very bad rn
@@sybinn3920 oh that sucks look like ive be skipping War within then
Always played Priest, but this is the first expansion where I'll be swapping to Shaman; the level of utility they bring to the table looks so fun and it might make pugging a little less miserable lol.
Swaping from Disc for Shaman or Evo... - have same feeliing... it's very hard to carry dungeon without any extra utility...
I have the same thoughts about Priest's inability to "make up" for people's mistakes. I have always loved Priest healing, but it just makes me stressed out having to deal with the constant mistakes pug groups make in the 7-10 range. I, like you, really enjoyed Shaman in Vesper totem time. With the changes to SLT and the burst ability of Totemic it really fits my play style. But the biggest thing is the ability to carry a group through the dumb mistakes people make to keep the group rolling.
Looking forward to seeing your M+ guides!
Priest healer has no kick and only has melee range fear as a stop. So no kick and a pretty bad SINGULAR stop. While also having no bres. It basically JUST heals.
@@kylebb96they’d messed up big time for not giving oracle hero talents a kick. Something like “foresight” as an interrupt something like “you predict your enemy’s movement and interrupt it”. But they keep missing oportunities with priest healers, like how did we not get a glyph to change our spirit form to a Kyrian in shadowlands? I hate being stuck as a Valkyr or a Spirit Healer.
My first character ever created back in Cataclysm was a Blood Elf Paladin. He is also the first character I ever tried healing on. After that I mostly played dps on DK, but Dragonflight brought me back to my Holy Paladin. Stuck with it in Season 4 so I'm really happy to maining it also in The War Within!
Holypala❤
Shoutout to the priest experience, void weaver and archon are in a decent place and oracle just got a huge buff. Always enjoy your content.
Thanks so much!
Bro the distracted boyfriend meme photoshop GOT ME
haha my editor was COOKIN with it
I agree I feel hopeless sometimes on priest. Miss my shamans utility.
After suffering playing hpal I hope to have fun with it back in TWW as my main. I started out as disc in Shadowlands and your guides really helped me out, specially the ones that explained the playstlye from boss to boss and what to look out for. I guess for learning players it's really helpful to understand your mindset going into different bosses than just see an overall rotation guide. In most cases people know how to ramp but the ramp timings and playstyle outside of ramps are what most struggle with. I always liked the complexity of disc and will definitely play it as my first alt.
Glad you’re enjoying Shammy. Really enjoying it myself too.
Good to hear!
Been playing Resto sham sense BFA. It feel pretty good atm

I'm planning on maining a Paladin most likely for Prot tanking but will also happily play Holy if Prot isn't great and Holy is.
I love being "the guy" who picks up the extra jobs and responsibilities. (Que times are a plus too because all I do is pug)
What I would like to see personally from you is this. In your videos, can you make little annotations of how the tank can work with the healer to make everyone's jobs easier.
Basically I would like to see a "Tank Guide" but from an experienced healers perspective! So that I can not suck as much while tanking.
Always appreciate the commentary and content! Keep it up Jak!
Appreciate it!
I’ve been a monk main for a few years now, but pally is just an absolute blast right now. Holy Pally rework feels incredible and every button feels good to press
Sticking with Holy Priest. Learned a lot from you so I really hope you keep the guides and videos going. The info you give out is really well put out and newer players getting into any level of content can benefit from your endless well of healer knowledge.
Absolutely priest guides will continue!
I want to main preservation cause it plays to well, but i just simply can NOT get past how the dragons look - no matter how hard I try.
Add gryphon wings to dwarf? Dwarf Evoker?
You can just collect transformation toys and just use those before combat. Some of them last 20 minutes to an hour. That way you never have to see dragon form. Or buy consumables that transform you such as noggenfogger/deviate delights
buy spectral crog :)
Noggenfoggers Elixir works and you can use them between packs to keep up the skeleton appearance. It is pretty old though and many animations don't work right so the skelli just T-poses through the air when you use hover which is a big plus for me :)
Love that they gave disc/shadow the coolest animations in the game and the specs themselves are subpar
Staying strong with prevoker
I would love to see some videos on how to heal or get better at healing in general. You've got so much experience and i love your class guides, but i think it would be cool to hear your thoughts on how to improve as a healer, what makes a good healer (player) in M+ vs. Raid, and how you got to where you are now as someone who regularly pushes for title and cutting edges
Good idea, any thoughts on how to start that generalized healing advice without getting too class specific and leaving others out?
@@AutomaticJak well, I definitely think clarifying priorities would be good. There's always this conversation about healer damage, I know you've talked a lot about it. But I think we all can agree you should prioritize healing > damage. But how much? Do you make sure everyone is 100%? Is 90% good enough? 80%? Do you focus on tank vs dps? Is it encounter specific and how do you know? I think even answering those kinds of things gives a better segueway into when should I be trying to squeeze DPS as a healer?
I think another few topics that would be interesting to talk about are CD usage, from externals to big cooldowns. Do you use them proactively or reactively? Does it depend on the type of cooldown? Should you hold them for big dmg events only or should I press healing tide totem for moderate damage so I can get the mana efficiency and get create some breathing room or downtime for myself to DPS or mechanics. How about CDs that also can increase your DPS like Apotheosis or heart of the wild?
Another topic: what kind of utility should I focus on and when should I use it? I think this is especially relevant for Priest bc our utility can be somewhat niche but even when to use mass dispel or how do you know when to PI? But even as a druid, when should I be trying to use stampeding Roar? I see so many druids never using this and idk what they are saving it for but it's a 3min CD you might get to use 6+ times in a dungeon to add just that little extra time to a hard key. I know some of these things aren't much, even healer DPS isn't a big deal anymore -- I agree on that. But it does feel good as a player, but especially a healer, to feel like you did everything you could to make the experience smooth which should increase your % of completed keys too. Often as a healer it can feel like you are reliant on everyone else to tank, position, and dps correctly and you're just there to meet HPS checks. But we can do so much more!
Sorry this was long but those are some of my first ideas. Obv I think this is more relevant to an M+ discussion bc raid is largely choreographed mechanics but I don't raid as much as I M+ anymore.
Makes sense! Thanks for the big write up!
@@AutomaticJak you're welcome! Excited to see your TWW content
Priest, Shaman and Pres for my top three.
I really really like playing Shaman for the first season while I’m learning the dungies and new power systems. Cap totem, T-storm and the short kick are just soooooo nice in pug groups. I always felt bad in NO whenever something would go off and I had no way to stop it. Plus Rsham feels like it cares a lot more about my positioning since I have to cast so much. Which is good for helping me to understand where the boss wants me to stand.
Plus i got invited to so many keys just bc of lust. :) probably less so in TWW since Aug is basically required.
Bold move with the main change to afflock
Kalamazi is quite the salesman
Preservation evoker is love - most fun i had in WoW for me
Do you have problems with the range? I left wow at the beginning of dragonflight, got to 1st raid normal and hc and was always on top of my guild with heals.
I had problems with a dungeon sometimes because of range 😅 not always tho but it stressed me out
@@tiquismistica9417 well, range could be a problem, usually prevoker is best in fights where are peopel stuck together, it also depends on playstyle a lot. Main problem with range for me was Mythic Tindral dispells, but we solved that - i had 1st dispell, so was fine after that :D :)
You can also rescue the one ranged dps who stays out of range, if you do that few times, he will come closer, sometimes i just ask nicely if they can be in my range, and with premades they always know :)
@@tiquismistica9417I run my own keys (or be selective with ones I join) so that there’s 2 melee and I only have one range to keep track of 😂
@@tiquismistica9417Give Evoker another try now. I also tried it at the beginning of DF & didn't like it at all. Now I have a blast when I play it. Idk which changes made the difference exactly, but it went from clunky & awkward to fluid & responsive for me.
Also having full flying feels so much better in the open world.
I'll personally be maining Ret pally with holy offspec.
I played hpal back in wraith thro mists and then I started playing sham and disc to current. I am back playing hpal it feels really good again. I have always healed but this time around I am rolling hpal, surv. hunter, warr. They all feel really fun and I am enjoying the gameplay.
Disc life is only way ever
For a short moment my stomach tightened because i thought you were goning to stop playing the priest 😄
I’m gonna main priest as usual most likely (last three exp) shaman may be a yolo main last minute though. My OG char since vanilla.
I was maining Holy Priest and Resto Shaman in S3 and S4 of dragonflight.
Resto shaman won me over by the end of S4 so I’m going to continue with that in The War Within, especially now that shaman looks even more fun.
As a flex healer for my guild, I always come home to MW. It's playstyle just vibes with me the best. I've been trying to learn Pres but it feels like it's missing something still.
For me it will be Shaman and HPal
Shaman as my always favorite, having some tough tomes and therefore switching to MW or RDruid in the last exps.
HPal I fell in love with in DF S2 (I'm playing WoW since Shadowlands so no big history I can look up to)
I'm looking forward to switching it up with one melee and one range heal to see how it goes and just having fun running towards title with my group
Paladin to me feels way more fun than shaman this time around and I’m normally a sham lover
AutomaticJak is the friendliest wow streamer on Twitch/YT
I last played a healer in WOTLK. It was a resto shaman back then and now, I usually only play ranged dps. I am playing a aff lock in TWW and all the changes seem pretty cool to me.
"Probably having breakdowns" Honestly, same :D
Jack is so sweet and nice, he cant be from Tichondrius
LMAO. Originally from Kilrogg, then spent a ton of time on Illidan
Being fron Stormrage I've had some wild experiences with Tichon groups, lol.
I've heard many say control and interrupts doesn't matter, the healer that does the most healing becomes the M+ meta, what's your opinion on this?
Absolutely false, at least currently. Which healer(s) become meta is determined by what other specs are powerful and how the healer can support that comp.
In season 3 Disc Priests were competing with Resto Druids until Shadow got buffed; Disc was far from the highest throughput healer, but was brought anyway for their utility (Stam buff, primarily) and VDH covering their biggest weakness (lack of interrupt/stops).
The key to Resto Druid being dominant right now is Mark of the Wild being the best M+ buff and the other Druid specs not being good enough to bring it. Their high throughput is just icing
Just want to quickly add that this is talking about the cutting edge of M+ and the meta that creeps down into casual keys.
None of these things matter much in a +10, let alone anything lower.
Everyone would be happier and time more keys if they didn't blindly follow what top players are doing to problem solve in infinitely scaling content.
@@Mooseplatoon I understand your point and this was what I thought before until I tried to heal a +19 HoI with disc and found out it's impossible.
Then I asked in some forums and most people say Rdruid heal 30% more than the 2nd healer, so if it's impossible for the rank 1 disc to heal Khajin, nothing else matters at all, coz your group dies if u can't meet the heal check and your utility is worthless in a heal check.
Monk as always for me but I think I'll pick up that shammy secondary too
haha exactly the same :)
Shaman main alt lets goooooooo!
Not sure if it’s already on your radar but have you considered making a “What healer should you main for the TWW?” video? I know you talk about what you’ll be playing but I know a lot of the “What should you play this xpac” videos tend to do well on UA-cam. You’re on the Mount Rushmore of healer players in the game so I’m sure people would trust your playstyle breakdowns to help the indecisive people, (me), choose something
Coming soon :)
@@AutomaticJak based, i miss preaches "what to main" series like he did running upto legion that series was so good as a newer player at the time :(
I come back here every expansion release for healer info lol
Glad to hear it!
I'm switching to Frost DK main. I've been playing Frost and Blood since Wrath came out. Frost is getting actual options now which is crazy. I don't even care if it's not top damage, it's a real spec now. It hasn't felt real for a long time.
I mained Disc in Legion and rDruid through every other xpac I do, for M+. This'll be the first I just hard swap away from that into Shaman. I literally can't wait to slam Sham
when will you release your new priest guides. Looking at maining holy this expansion
Near xpac launch, end of august. My prepatch guides on wowhead are good for prepatch atm
Holy paladin or Resto shaman for healer and definitely my warlock for damage. Can't decide between the two healers,i always main one healer one dps.
Really struggling with anything other than shaman rn just due to how people are playing... chain pulling and boss rushing every. single. run. My shaman can just drop a couple totems and spam chain lightning while my priest and druid are barely keeping up after CDs are wasted
I have played all healers through every expansion since Legion, not every patch though. But I've been someone that has went between all specs, pala, priest and shaman has been the closest to me. Very recently monk got a bit in too, but I think pala or shaman will be my main.
Actually maining Resto Shaman, I recently returned to the game after a nasty accident and time in Hospital, I found this sweet guild on Argent Dawn EU and we've beaten Awakened Heroic Vault and Aberrus and we're currently 8/9 in Amirdrassil HC, we're gonna whip Fyrakks butt tomorrow, curious to see how the Pre-Patch has changed things, and looking forward to TWW :D
I was maining Evoker, switched to Monk mid S3, started PvPing as Disc as an alt. I recently logged into my Evoker and I'm still kinda meh about them for raids with the short range. I think I will main Monk again as I really enjoy how they play in M+, but I'm not really a fan of their raid healing. I have been considering Paladin or Shaman for my first alt, and also as a PvP main because while I somewhat enjoy casted MW in PvP, you can't do any damage and while FW is looking good, it seems harder to live when you're in the fray in 2s or 3s. Since I am probably going MW main I guess I'll have to tolerate the raid healing.
My same 2, as usual, HPriest and RSham with a lil RDruid on the side :) Looking forward to the content!
Brewmaster/mistweaver or rshaman. Depends on what happens to blizzards balance philosophy over the coming month. I fear what they might surprise us with.
hey man, I've just come back to WOW this summer after years away. Looking at jumping into competitive M+ in TWW. Have played Priest at high ratings in arenas previously, but no M+ experience. What would you recommend I do from now until xpac? Does it make sense to push some keys in the prepatch or would I be better off blasting beta to learn those dungeons , etc. ?
If you have beta access then definitely play beta. Got some builds I've been playing with linked here pastebin.com/u/Automaticjak/1/JN5WuiDs. Learning the dungeons and where the damage is coming from will be the best way to prep to meet your goals. GL gamer!
Resto druid, holy paladin, and aug evoker is my list
JAK really dislikes DRUID 😂😂
I thought I had a level of hatred for druids.
I plan on going with H-pal and P Evoker
Been waiting for this. Thanks!
I get ya on "what's my main" I know I will also be playing Priest as its been my main since BC, but since mists, I have played Monk and Paladin in main raids for a number of expansions so do I really have a main at this point. I know I main a "healer" lol.
I think most priests can agree though, it really feels bad to not have a utility like the other healers. Maining a monk in Dragonflgiht the last 2 seasons (and now with all the new cool utility they do get in TWW) and then coming back as priest feels bad in that regard, so I am torn.
Looking forward to seeing the videos coming up for the new expansion, especially on Hpally.
Funny enough we are almost the same pics, my main is gonna be priest after alot of wow soul searching, but resto sham is gonna be my second followed by HPal
I never got Disc healing. I always tried and just couldnt figure it out. Then, yesterday, something just clicked and my fingers knew what to press. So, I'm going in with Disc/Shadow
I am going to main priest and shaman aswell. looking forward to it :)
Casual Andy RDruid + HPala
No disrespect - get on with it and give us the answer :)
If I'm going to play at all im going with pal, unless it will be really bad. I wanted to go with priest, but because im pugging only i remember how hard it was in season2 to find a group, and it took all the fun out of rhe game and i don't want to repeat that for sure
I need that disc guide. This will be my first expansion healing
at least you can freely choose to not take Summer now.
Go to 4:50 to get the answer
I've mained fisc priest for 20 years, but going prevoker next season, it's so much fun
staying paladin all the way
I'm very curious about these hero tallents for all healers and how different they're from each other from gameplay.
Schaman, MW, Priest is my list ;)
get in! another Jack vid - pump iron son!
Im maining monk and thinking of alting Resto Shaman they look really fun and i played Shaman season 1 of DF
how do you play disc priest now? my main burst i used for raids is gone(rapture burst that ALWAYS put me on the top of the chart for awhile) and the atonements it provided could get me through any raid if used right. Now it's down to only a few targets and i don't know what to with myself lol.....the one reason disc was king was the crazy burst in the most needed times and now i feel useless.
Im healing on mw and rshaman and dpsing on warrior.
Where do i find the legit sides of what is best healer for M+? I always marines druid and my alts always been shaman, priest and paladin. Some sites says pala and druid is the best choice for m+ but most UA-camrs dont agree.
Farseer got just waaay better. Id like to see AK47 Riptides in your stream Jak
It’s comin! Probably today
@@AutomaticJak action is coming
Thank you for the insightful perspective on the state of the hearts as we head into TWW. My guy 4.5 minutes is a bit too long for an intro and pug
I’m so sad pres hasn’t gotten their range fixed yet, they are by far my favourite healer to play but are perpetually scuffed and way harder to play than they need to be. I guess you can spacial yourself now which is nice but still, it’s dumb that a super fun kit gets completely kneecapped by an arbitrary number
The range makes it impractical in PuGs.
@@Aggrofool unless you make your own group and invite full melee or play with your friends
with so many melee healer, the range thing has literally never bothered me. Coming from a Monk, I'm already used to being very close to the group. And you need to be close for abilities like Tail Sweep anyway.
@@TheNynaxI don't think that's the issue. The issue on pres is when you put and there's only like one melee and two rang who stay spread out. Id love a full melee team lol
In order for it to be 'fixed' it would have to first be broken which Blizzard apparently doesn't think it is. Now personally, I've only had the range impede me once or twice so I'm not one of the people yelling about it but I do understand it's an issue for a lot of people and wouldn't mind if it got changed.
i wonder if it's holy priest or disc priest. can't wait to find out. 🥶
I'm currently leveling a holy paladin, I'm only level 41 but it feels so hard to heal , especially aoe to keep people alive, does it gets better once you get all spells or am I just bad at it , or perhaps both :)
i am currently still stuck between 4 mains warlock, hunter, dk(my main sence cata), or mage(og toon main before dk)
I know why you're doing it, and I know you wish you didn't have to do it, but man it sucks that you have to go through such lengths to say " yo im a priest main please stop harassing me about what class/spec I play" just because people are toxic online.
That being said, it was well said and fluidly put into the video without being an annoying intro :)
Appreciate you bro
So does this mean we could see a shaman guide for TWW from you then? 😊
We could 👀
Jak, same for me, healed since MoP (main priest) and thats ending with DF... im just tired of this quacamole fight with hp bars... Ofc i will level up and play with my disc/holy priest, but i reroll to dps, probably mage or shadow. If anything changes in healing i'll probably come back, i just want to relax now and play a dumb dps. :D
Everybody sleeping on preservation because aug exists
I wanna play disc but i am afraid it does 0heal in m+
It does good healing but having to hold and be super thoughtful about how you use your squid is super rough. If you make a mistake you’re kinda caught out w low heals
My main issue at the moment with mistweaver is that I hate the offspecs with a passion even though I've played tons of them for ages and understand them well. Second issue is the raid healing has been primarily caster based for a while, and that is NOT what I want out of a melee healer. Its awesome in a dungeon environment and I wish that playstyle was equal to the hot spamming soom healer in raids (or they'd just remove the caster style.. a melee healer should be meleeing to heal imo).
Really not a fan of caster healers unless they're like disc. Disc was just too much of a turret last time I played and they gutted all the utility to where it feels super lacking. No combat res either. Killing mass dispel off for the healer specs as well as shadow was bad.
Much like you my first real healer in wow was a paladin in wrath apart from moonlighting on a friend's shaman back in the early retail era. Probably back to a paladin again now. It's been a lot better with the pruning but I still think a couple buttons could go. Can't win em all though. They did a lot of QoL on it with the talents and how they function now vs it all being extra keys before.
You really stretched this video out
His main will be whatever is meta

@@AutomaticJak oh yeah it is. You're right its annoying to play with and honestly something I forget to use outside of summer itself. Find myself remember the other 3 in between pulls losing efficiency. I'd like to see an interesting aura or something for healers.
