Outside of just “bender” Oswald could be referencing Sokka and the Mechanists tinkering with inventions like the airships and submarines (probably a little bit of a stretch but still)
I have a hard time imagining that they wouldn't go for both the last airbender and legend of Korra at once, but maybe I'm just tainted by the sheer amounts of legends in WHO and LTR
I was wondering what might have enough broad appeal to follow up Final Fantasy and Spider-Man as a holiday season release UB set. Avatar The Last Airbender is the most plausible out of what I heard.
I know we're going back to Lorwyn sometime next year, but has anything else been announced? I'm thinking that an Avatar set is going to have a fair amount of Spirit creature type stuff going on, so we should be on the lookout for any Spirit-tribal stuff that may be coming out this year and/or next year. Also! There's a new animated movie scheduled for January 2026. Aang: The Last Airbender will cover the Gaang as adults, maybe bridging the gap between the age of Aang and the age of Korra. And this MTG set will be coming at the end of 2025, most likely. Quite a good opportunity for cross-advertising!
Huh. The daily deals folks are definitely saying that's what the set will be. The question is whether that's the truth or we're being trolled. Hang on... isn't there a new Avatar series coming out at the end of this year? It could be that they haven't announced it yet because the set will include stuff from the concurrent series, and that stuff hasn't been shown yet... This is a solid theory. I hope you're right.
Mindbending (or energy bending) was right there in AtLA. Remember the Turtle and the final battle with Ozai? So this is probably the biggest tell of them all in the cosmetics lineup.

There's a lot of spirits, animals mixes (which would make fun type lines) and mythical beasts. Also, you can add bender as a type, so it would add nuance to the humans of the set. The biggest failure from assassins creed was the small booster, I agree they should have made a commander decks.
@STEMpunk28 They made the small booster because they didn't have enough variety. That's what I'm afraid of. While Avatar has more variety than AC, does it have enough for a draftable standard set? Would the Avatar set have enough animals to make at least two draft archetypes? Would they use animals that were only on the shows, or create new ones? Would people be upset if they created animals that weren't on the shows? The world of Avatar the Last Airbender is bigger than what has been shown to the audience. I don't know if what we have been shown is enough for a set. If they go beyond what has been shown, there's enough. Will the audience approve? For example, do you think the set will have any sharks? To my recollection, no shark animals were shown or mentioned in the shows. How would players react to a Tigershark card that is actual card types cat and shark?
