The minimal gunplay makes sense if you've seen the movies, Indiana may carry a gun but he would use it as a last resort or if there was no other choice.
this looks like it mirrors the movies more than most games. it will be interesting to see if people actually like that. indy primarily solved puzzles, explored and snuck around, save for several misfortunes when his back was against the wall. i am super excited for it personally.
The set-pieces in the Indy films are all key, defining aspects of those films -- and much more primary than the sneaking elements are; heck, the puzzle-solving elements primarily existed as pace breakers between action beats. While "Indiana Jones is a proper archaeologist " is what we're told at various points in the films, the character as portrayed is a very "I can tell George Lucase was involved in writing this"-style of swashbuckling rogue.
@@arglebargle5531 Sure, but the game can't be 90% set pieces. The movies cut short all the "boring" part of Indy's adventuring and investigating for the sake of pacing, but the game can make you experience them first-hand and in a much more interesting way. You should play "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis". I belive it's on GOG. First and best I.J. story not based on movies. Very complex pioint-and-click adventure with multiple paths and ocasional natzi brawling.

Solid video. So much attention to detail. Happy to see a good old fashioned single player adventure game. Excited to pick the game up! 🤠
I just remembered there was a series that was called The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. That was actually fantastic. So, if this is still available somewhere I can highly recommend that to everyone who loves the movies 👌
I love you Matty, it makes me laugh that you dressed up as Indiana Jones for Halloween, but never saw the movies. Did you have strict parents like I did? I missed out on a LOT of movies. I didn't watch any Harry Potter until i was an adult lol
Matty, great review. just as heads up, Machine Games werent lead on Youngblood, that was Arkane. MachineGames primarily handled the tech side (as theyre doing currently with id tech 8)

Inscryption (the first part) was flawless. Id recommend it if u need some good games this holiday. Oh, and stardew valley.....i have 200+ hrs on that 😂 now back to stalker 2
Stalker 2 is badly optimized. This isn’t much of a problem for PC players as much as console players. I tried on series S and Uninstalled immediately. This game having 60 FPS on series S shows how optimized a game can be.
Hi there! My art director got it for me for Christmas. His reasoning was “it’s fashionable enough for those who don’t know and for those who can read it, they’re going to want to know what is going on there.” 🤣
Not even a big Indiana fan but really hyped to give this a go, in the mood for a first person game. Also, very good to hear the game doesn't spoil its own puzzles in 30 seconds, if it did I wouldn't buy it as I'm sensitive to that stuff after God of War & Horizon.
Looking forward to a AAA Indy sneaker! I was not expecting that at all but pleasantly surprised. I had resigned myself to the thought Eidos Montreal had dealt a mortal blow to the genre with their Thief remake 🤦 still breaks my heart lol
I grew up on the indiana jones movies. The first level was a absolute lovely piece of nostalgia to get into the game and what like your gonna be doing for the rest of the game. Female- woke, non white-woke, Indie not physically dominating his oponents and has to resolve to stelath, subterfuge and dirty moves-woke. Non woke world seems pretty limited and pathetic.
There were people from Starbreeze at Machine Games. Starbreeze made Chronicles of Riddick games and there was stealth and hand to hand boxing. So i can see why they would make a game with that kind of combat. They made the Darkness with a few small open areas that you had to fast travel sort of by taking the New York subway. So the level design and fast travel makes sense to me. I am pretty excited to play The Great Circle.

@@bluecitrusartreally? I just watched gameranx review on this and he clearly shoots with a pistol as Indy so in what parts of the game weren’t you able to shoot with a gun?
Lots of confidence watching this video. Hasn't watched the original movies until a couple days ago just to get context for the game... Says it's mostly a stealth game like Dishonored which makes it stand out from easy comparisons to Uncharted or Tomb Raider, then goes into detail about how the stealth is milk toast, open world is still fairly linear, and AI is junk... says the puzzles are really engaging and fun, but also says he's not a puzzle guy... Gee whiz, I can't wait to play this game after watching this video with zero credible recommendations going for it. To be fair the game looked pretty boring and mild anyway. Machine Games are well past their heyday and Todd Howard hasn't made a good game in almost a decade.
@irecordwithaphone1856 everything that he praised he deflates or robs of credibility somewhere else in the video. Did you not read my comment that says that exact same thing and gives examples or did you just read a fragment and get triggered?
If you need another example he says they did a really good job of making the game feel like it takes place firing the original trilogy, even though he only just watched them for the first time (maybe he's just really good at taking in movies and details after a single watch through our something). He then closes his video with saying he's gets if people might get turned off by the weak story and Indiana Jones fighting 18 people at once stealth gameplay without consequences. Where in that thesis do those to talking points match up as a fun Indiana Jones game?

DoD was better than Crystal Skull, though. It certainly isn't the worst one.
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is actually good.
@@DriveupLife22 it was entertaining as hell when I was like 12. Even I thought the ending was ridiculous tho lmao
@@bart3736 Exactly
Nah crystal skull was a decent one and so was the last one.
It may come as a shock to many that Indiana Jones works for a museum and is not Rambo.
You should play "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis". I belive it's on GOG. First and best I.J. story not based on movies. Very complex pioint-and-click adventure with multiple paths and ocasional natzi brawling.
It's also a bonus game in Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings, Wii version only.
the quality of the story in this game is the only thing i cared about so im glad
Right there with you man…Indiana Jones was on TV last week and I found myself unable to change the channel because I’ve never seen any of the movies
Watch all sigh even crystal skull and dial of destiny but if you do not want the last two part 3 is perfect at least to me.
DON'T watch the last 2. Stick with the original trilogy. Pretend the other 2 don't exist. You'll be better for it.
@@1_underthesunlike Terminator 1&2.
Anything after them we do not speak of…
@@Frequency47 Major League....there are no sequels.
As a massive Dishonored fan, this title is for me. Thanks for the review.
Nice to see Matty genuinely surprised and happy.
Indy is Back Baby!
20:40 was that TONY TODD aka Candy Man??! Yep just looked it up. RIP!!!!
3 hrs of cut scenes plus 20 hrs of gaming! Love it. I'm in the desert in Indis on my mission. I just did that light puzzle.
I love the Dishonored series! Some of the most fun stealth games I have ever played.
24:48 Could you elaborate on this? You said the story “sucked” but I didn’t get that impression based on how you had been explaining things just seconds before making that claim. Is it just not engaging at all or something?
HEY NOW MATT LETS NOT GET AHEAD OF OURSELVES HERE 😑😑😑❗❗ 1:11
Solid video. Man Indiana Jones and The Great Circle has turned out to be the best surprise of 2024, Machine Games absolutely nailed the look, feel and vibe of the movies, the fact that the game runs at 60 fps, ray racing, 1080p, the graphics look amazing.
I remember that show fondly. I wish it had stayed on TV longer.
Yep i remember it 👍 not seen it in over a decade
Excited for this and rivals
Gonna be a great weekend for gamers :)
I love you Matty, it makes me laugh that you dressed up as Indiana Jones for Halloween, but never saw the movies. Did you have strict parents like I did? I missed out on a LOT of movies. I didn't watch any Harry Potter until i was an adult lol
Harry Potter is lame as sh*t
@@timriff3923 I didn't ask you.
The old adventure games were great.
The Last Crusade even came with it's own Grail Diary
Machinegames needs to make a new Punisher game their perfect for that character man
Indiana looks really good. For Stealth Puzzle Cinematic Adventure game, it looks awesome!
Matty, great review. just as heads up, Machine Games werent lead on Youngblood, that was Arkane. MachineGames primarily handled the tech side (as theyre doing currently with id tech 8)
Thanks for the code for the Himalayas that I couldn’t figure out the other night before I decided it was bed time 😂
Indiana jones and Path of Exile 2. It's a good month to be a gamer, thank goodness.
Those games and Marvel rivals. I’m not going to get anything productive done for at least a month.
@Jpow5734 I forgot all about that one ! We're all eating good this month.
Wow just found your channel. You are great with giving the right detailed context to the game and understanding the mindset gamers can have when choosing a game. Loved this review. Both technically and storywise you covered all the important aspects I wanted to understand before starting to olau
I really hope I enjoy this game. I’m a huge Uncharted fan and I miss the series so much cause I love the adventure and being a history guy, I love the stories. I’m not expecting Uncharted but I hope it’s a fun adventure that invokes the same feeling of wonderment
Great intro, Matty! It’s been a pleasure watching all of your fantastic content this year. Thanks for the A+ effort!
i got a free copy of this game with my new pc, looking forward to playing it!
Upgraded my 6 year old video card on cyber monday, this game came with it. Pretty cool because this seems right up my alley, and I almost never install the games/software that come with my hardware purchases (I like rpgs and adventures, and those almost always come with shooters).
@wavion2 Touch some grass today.
If i walk into a dark room and candyman is in there I'm out.
Thanks for the great review. I hope to play this on PS5 when it comes out on February. Hopefully all the bugs will be sorted then.
Its on gamepass.....so ill def check it out. GamePass has been dropping bangers lately. STALKER 2 is amazing. Genshin impact i had never played, enjoyed it for 20+ hrs. Inscryption (the first part) was flawless. Id recommend it if u need some good games this holiday. Oh, and stardew valley.....i have 200+ hrs on that 😂 now back to stalker 2
$20 is a scam
Stalker 2 is a banger? Nah. Lol enjoy the 20 dollar rentals, i will pick the disk up in a year for 5 dollars on my ps5 pro
@@wizzenberry You sound like a butthurt pony
@wizzenberry LOL, touch some grass kid. Also, PS5 pro is the worst system ever.
Stalker 2 is badly optimized. This isn’t much of a problem for PC players as much as console players. I tried on series S and Uninstalled immediately. This game having 60 FPS on series S shows how optimized a game can be.
There are a lot of cutscene, but getting to practically see and hear Harrison Ford perform in this role is an absolute treat.
Hi from Japan. I couldn't stop focusing on your T-shirt. What's up with the yakiniku (焼肉) Tee? I actually kind of liked it frankly.
I don't trust your reviews anymore.
who
Probably because of the whole starfield debacle
Looking forward to a AAA Indy sneaker! I was not expecting that at all but pleasantly surprised. I had resigned myself to the thought Eidos Montreal had dealt a mortal blow to the genre with their Thief remake 🤦 still breaks my heart lol
PoE II today guys!
Back log is getting nuts.
I grew up on the indiana jones movies. The first level was a absolute lovely piece of nostalgia to get into the game and what like your gonna be doing for the rest of the game. From the start you have emphasis of the puzzles and like strategic manuevering and not as a fps which is perfect for a indiana jones game
I don't really have a lot to say. Im mad about Skyrim AE and Starfield. Skyrim because its my favorite game. Its always something new everything I start up the game. Just a lot of stuff that you don't see happening in any other game makers game I have ever seen. I un installed Starfield again because I am sick of trying to get it to work around updates that break it for me. Anyway Happy Holidays Gamers. Rock on. 😎
i have a bug that just happened to me where the audio of the fire from the china level still plays throughout the rest of the levels that I travel too I had to turn off ambient audio
People are saying it's going to be woke but I don't really see how yet nothing in the trailers makes me think that and just cause there is a female in the game doest mean it's woke
"Woke" nowadays means "woman of color" basically. So if your game has one black or brown woman in it, it's "woke" according to these internet virgins.
Only incels say such things.
People think the female is gonna be a girl boss they like to shove in games these days, she doesnt seem bad to me though
@MrSkullMerchant ya I seen that I don't think she will be the main character I mean if they make her save indy at the end of the game and turn him into a slop and make her the superhero then I can see that but for now there is nothing that says that I also think there is pissed off fan boys shit talking cause they can't play it yet 😆
This game is way bigger than I expected you can easily sink 30 hours into this😂 that's not a big game my man 30 hours is just getting started for a big game
Happy Christmas mate hope u have a good one
Was refreshing at 7 just to watch this video
“I adored it” LFG
Just subscribe and hit the bell.
I was not expecting them to pull it off!! So glad I was wrong. It's refreshing to have a big game being released without going the safe route and going full on action game.
Indiana Jones always was about the puzzles. Can't wait to play this out
Barely a minute out and these comment are the absolute worst type of nega-bots ive seen
So far im hyped for this game and matty's opinion
Wait which comments? Which bots are you talking abt?

I want to thank PC and Xbox gamers for playing this game first,it will help us out alot, without you we would probably get a glitchy mess on release, thank you taking one for us ps5 players.
No yellow paint in an Indiana Jones game is a huge plus!
Im happy you liked this game! I got the feeling xbox kinda was missing this year on some of their big titles but glad to see such a classic movie series got an amazing game adaptation
Very good to know that we finally have another good Indiana Jones adventure. It's been too long!
I'll wait to play this on my PS5.
It's not worth waiting 4 months to pay $70, just get it on Game Pass and save $50
So far, The way that you smiled while saying “let’s talk about Indiana jones and the great circle” let’s me know that this is going to be one of those more positive Matty reviews. I wonder if my prediction will be accurate 🧐
Used to have so much faith in my man matty…Now i have to wait for multiple reviewers (Who don’t rely on early access and relationships at these companies) for another perspective. All love but still the games the game
Played for an hour now. Damn, it's so boring. Don't know how that metacritic score came about.
Puzzles are hard, huh?
@@Rashimotosan Dude I finished Talos Principle 2. The puzzles in Indy are laughable.
Do the enemies respawn ? Do the dead bodies disappear when you’re in a zone ?
If you seen any Indiana Jones movies you know that was plenty of blood in those movies If you watch Indiana and the Temple of doom that was literally how Indiana Jones game supposed to be.
In Indiana Jones, in the Temple of doom, they were ripping our hearts… this game looks like bullshit
Indiana Jones can’t even shoot guns in this game… hard pass for me . And I have game pass
@ and what pisses me off he said he watched the original trilogy which means he had to watch Indiana Jones in the temple of doom WHICH THEY HAD A WHOLE MINE CART CHASING SCENE WITH GUNS🤯🤦🏾♂️ and he approving garbage I don’t believe he really watched the movies if you watch Indiana Jones and the Temple of doom that was literally action from beginning to end…I’m 39 btw I seen every last one and the original 3 were the MOST ACTION PACKED…WTF IS THIS?
@@bluecitrusartreally? I just watched gameranx review on this and he clearly shoots with a pistol as Indy so in what parts of the game weren’t you able to shoot with a gun?
@@bluecitrusart You absolutely can shoot guns in the game, the hell are you on about? Quit spreading misinformation.
Does it have new game plus or the ability to replay levels with all unlocks?

@@wizzenberryWhat's wrong with you??... you're everywhere pony
What a pleasant surprise I’ll definitely check this out thanks Matty
So you legitimately ignored the bits of the video where he did praise things?
"Todd hasn't made a good game in almost a decade"
Well that clock just reset with this game. Him and Machine Games cooked
Now that you have finally watched the first 3 Indiana Jones movies (I'm still questioning your childhood), what do you think of them?
Review starts at 2:40
Legend!!!
Not even worth mentioning at 2 minutes
Their Riddick games were also mostly stealthiness around. Sounds like a return to form?
(cursed auto correct)
With respect, Matty, you lose a lot of credibility when you haven't even seen the movies. That's like playing KOTOR without watching Star Wars.
😂😂😂
@qjames0077 But he did watch the movies? He said this at the beginning of the video?
He literally said he watched the movies
He watch them a week ago wtf.
Cons with this game
7:42 bad fast travel, 8:23 8:08
10:16 10:48
11:13 id rather have him mutter that.
12:06 irritating annoying puzzles , doable. 🤯💥💨🧠

I’m starting to think Matty may be a woke zealot in disguise. Or he’s too much of a coward to talk about it. “Please don’t ban me. I’ll be nice and stay lukewarm.”

My biggest complaint about this game is the lack of a manual save option.
