    I ran into the same issue coating my wife's CX-9. It was about 80 degrees in my garage but I had to air flow so the humidity made it a challenge. Ended having a few high spots, on the hood I ended up polish off with 3D one again the coating and reapplying it but wiping off much quicker and that worked. Other others I remembered I had carpro essence + so used that and then some areas had to reapply. Other then those issues the coating was amazing! Also switching to a different microfiber towel for wipe off. Still by go too coating.

    I'm doing a winter prep on My 2005 Acura TSX(Carbon Gray Pearl) today... Washed, iron removal, clayed, thoroughly dried(trip down the parkway) ready for Koch Chemie M302. Orange CCS 6.5" pad/FLEX3401 on 4.5. I'm usually a perfectionist... watching Your vids, I'm not going to go for perfection. It's a daily... I'll still try to prevent scratches and swirls. You are right about the coating being finicky - sensitive to humidity and temperature. I applied it on Saturday. I noticed yesterday a few hot spots. I think I can just reapply to those spots and they will dissappear. I'm really happy with the results though 😊.

    Phil I've been using ASP coating as well and have noticed the same. The coating is temp and humidity sensitive and will be quite tacky on the initial wipe off. Other than that I love the way the coating leaves the paint looking! Enjoying the gtecniq line as well.

    Phil, I applied it and basically had to work a lot with the heat and humidity since daily here is above 75% humidity and temperature over 85 degrees Fahrenheit. During summer is above 95 degrees Fahrenheit. When I applied it had to deal with it almost like Avalon's King IX which changed from the oily look on a white pearl vehicle to a haze in less than a minute(about 10 seconds and had 2 fans, with Avalon's takes here about 30 to 40 seconds) but everything was on point, later applied the sheeting topper too.👌👌👍 I was about to call Brian so he could give me better pointers but I figured everything out since had to observe a lot the behavior of the coating since I know how others work differently in our environment. The other thing is a little it goes a long way on application and was amazed because I remember Brian said it on his video and after seeing it I can exhort others here on this. It has an incredible shine at the end and lots of product still remaining for about 3 to 4 small cars.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah good points. I always try to encourage people to keep an eye on the coating and see how it reacts and adjust your wipe off procedure accordingly. 😎👍

  • @eppyz
    @eppyz 2 роки тому +2

    Phil is it really necessary to run a Polish over a car if you can't visually see any imperfections? You can't just after washing the vehicle use an IPA as a prep and then apply the product? Or in this case because it's a customer car and they're paying pretty good money you're doing it for the fact that they're paying you to do it if that makes sense? Another great video by the way 👍

    • @LilRick96
      @LilRick96 2 роки тому +2

      Yes. You really want to at least get minor defects out, add as much gloss and help exfoliate the paint before applying the coating and to help ensure it'll look and perform is best. Paying that amount of money for a service, you wanna make sure the customer is getting it's money's worth.

    • @eppyz
      @eppyz 2 роки тому +2

      @@LilRick96 I understand that being someone that is paying you to do the work, yeah you better do it. But as a do it yourselfer, if your paint has no visual defects and is glossy already, why do this step? Wastes time and product. Again, if your getting paid to do it? Then you better, or if your honest, and the paint doesn't need it? Then don't charge the customer for a step you didn't do. To my knowledge no products say you "have to" use a polish first. They simply state, "correct the paint if needed before applying" the polishing part is just to illuminate imperfections. Should be a judgement call on the person doing the work. Here? Phil did see some slight imperfections is probably why he did it, but then again, some customers may not want their clear compromised for such minor stuff. Your factory clear is far better than any nano coating. So save the clear and only polish or compound if NEEDED. People now a days really go overboard trying to chase that perfect finish, but don't realize its at the sacrifice of the factory clear coat. Phil knows this, and is why he just went over this car with a black pad. No cut at all. Smart.

    • @LilRick96
      @LilRick96 2 роки тому +2

      @@eppyz yeah that's what I mean. You can polish and " jewel" the paint without compromising the clear coat at all. Just enhancing the gloss, slickness and like I said exfoliating the paint. It's all preference. It's how YOU yourself value your car. No car is perfect, there will always be some defects. If you think it looks perfect enough to just IPA wipe it and coat it, it's totally fine. But if you wanna achieve a bit more gloss and clarity, it is possible to go that route and take the extra time to get it. Watch Brian from Apex. I believe it was a black G8 he did a few months ago about having a car cover on top, he compounded, polished and then "jeweled" the paint to bring even more gloss, you would've thought it wasn't possible to get a more deeper richer look but it did in a 50/50 shot. It is a judgment call, if you see some spots that need a bit of correction just take care of it, you'll only degrade the clear coat of you hammer it with a super aggressive compound with multiple passes. A polish to achieve gloss and clean up minor swirls won't do anything to harm it . It's all about common sense and knowing when to hold back and pick your battles. Saves time and energy.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  2 роки тому +3

      Hi. Well for us it's part of the service and we have found that even if the vehicle is switl free and glossy already, a light polish will also mechanically clean the paint and help remove anything that may be on the paint. But it's not absolutely necessary, but it's a part of a quality service and peace of mind knowing the paint is cleaned, prepped, and ready to coat.

    • @MirandaDetailing
      @MirandaDetailing  2 роки тому +2

      Hi yeah, that's very true. It all comes down to what the customer wants or needs. Some jobs we win because we also need to give it a light polish to enhance and remove the slightest of defects. Other jobs take more to get the paint to the level that the customer is expecting. However, with our business, we charge the same whether we needed to polish more or not. We have priced our services to equalize things. But if we forgo or a more intense polishing and that saves time we put the into something else like maybe adding in a complimentary interior basic cleaning. They still get the value out of it, and it seems like an extra bonus to them. 😎👍
