yeah, because this isn't a student film; the uploaded titled it that so people like us would click on it. It's a film made by the state of Florida before Jim was in college--it is a film intended to drum up support for the public university system in Florida.
I don't know if he "hated" them but he was very disappointed and heartbroken when they didn't seem to accept his music. I think his sister stayed in touch with him, and possibly his mother.
Jim looks about 15 yrs old. But already intensity and intellegence . The voice though is already present. Amazing to be able to see these attributes present in just a teenager...

I used to drive past the school all the time (since I live in nearby Arlington) not realizing his history there. Jim had started attending mid-sophomore year until graduation (which he, in true Jim fashion, did not attend!) In August 1961, his family moved to Florida.

Jim was at the crossroads, which way to go, its almost as if society helped guide him into the cal scene & eventually the Doors..Jim lived about a few hrs from where i live..Melbourne is about 100 miles directly east of Sarasota, Florida..

Does it not seem a bit strange that out of all of the people he ends up doing this film? His dad is the Admiral of the Gulf of Tonkin incident......Ends up in the Laurel Canyon area which is a small area in Los Angeles where numerous bands and solo artists came out of and a large percentage of those players were all from families in the defence sector of the Government....

Put "Dave McGowan" and/or "Weird Scenes from Laurel Canyon" (his book) into the search bar here on YT, and you'll find many good interviews that are a great jumping off point for this heinous story (LipTV2 had a very clear one). Jim also died on the exact day that his father's ship was decommissioned. This being the very ship his father commanded during the Gulf of Tonkin false flag event (which our government has had to admit was a false flag); which was the catalyst/lynchpin that propelled Americans to go to war, and allow their children to be murdered in Vietnam. I say this as someone who believes in war, and does not consider it murder if those involved are fighting for the stated reasons, and not being misled. Further, not only were an endless number of these "rock stars" the children of high level defense/CIA families, but many of them are also royalty. I would suspect British royalty given the other research I've done, but I've not yet had time to do research this question myself--and McGowan was not specific.

"Will his parents care?" I guess they did not! His dad never really got to hear much of his music. He told Jim to move on as he had absolutly no talent in music. I guess that lack of support was strong enough that he told the media his folks were dead. It's sad he and his dad never cleared that up.

Well WW 2 was a legit war. The US needed to intervien. However Vienam was about rubber trees I heard. Or communism. We stayed too long and probably should never have gotten involved. I am a peace loving flower child myself, born a little too late... I think that fact about the 2 wars confuse people still. We must support all vets though. Even if we don't agree with the war.
