  • Welcome to my Food Pantry Haul & Meals video! The cost of living and the price of food has increased so much that many people use a food bank or food pantry to make ends meet. The food pantry is a great resource to obtain food and household supplies. There is no need to go hungry when there are great resources out there for everyone to use, if you qualify. I encourage you to apply to your local food pantry or food bank if you need help with groceries. Also, it's a great place to meet new people in the community. If you do not qualify for the food pantry or the food bank then please check out your local churches as that could be another option to get help.
Food Bank Hauls & Food Pantry Hauls Are Such A Blessing!
There is no shame in going to a food pantry, a food bank or a local church for help with groceries. The cost of food and the cost of living is high. If you have low-income, lower income or no income then the food pantry may be a great option for you! Inflation prices are rapidly increasing, so more people are using their community resources and programs than ever before. Using your local community resources to help offset the cost of food can help you stretch your paycheck further. Keep in mind that sometimes the food has gone bad. There are times I have received items from the food pantry that were spoiled. Sometimes the food is very out of date and not suitable. Please check the best by dates! If you receive spoiled items, then I'm sure it was an accident. Food banks and food pantries move a lot of inventory and there are times when the food has turned. They have a lot of food that comes through and they're not perfect. Volunteers help rotate and shelf products at the food pantry. Just keep your eye out for best by dates to make sure you are getting the best quality items you can find!
    THE FRUGAL LIVING LIFESTYLE!
I live a frugal lifestyle. I shop sales and squirrel away supplies for winter. I am mindful to stock up on everyday items to save money in the long run so I can pay for daily living expenses like electricity. Every purchase I make is a financial investment in my future. It could be a bottle of water or a can of beans. Part of my frugal living lifestyle is using my local food pantry and shopping at thrift stores. Each organization has their own rules and if you qualify, you become a consumer to their program so please follow their rules so you can maintain a good relationship with your food pantry or food bank. I still have bills like everyone else and I budget according to my finances. Although I am considered financially poor or low-income, I do not feel poor. I eat well. I dress well. I have my basic needs met and I work to try to improve my life. Start where you are and work with what you've got!
Thank you for watching my food pantry haul video! It really means a lot to me to see everyone watching my videos. I enjoy making these videos to help others and show what is going on in the East Coast. I hope my meals inspire you to cook at home to save money. Look out for more videos in the future! And thank you to everyone that subscribed to my channel! It means so much to me! These are uncertain times, but you can be certain to plan, prepare and get stocked on essentials.

Just like you, I label everything with a date in permanent marker - it helps when meal planning and deciding what to use and sometimes has inspired some of my best meals!

@MamaMealPrep It's so helpful to write down the dates! Makes it easier to grab the next can in order. A time-saver and a money-saver!

I'm glad you are learning about Best Buy Dates. They're not Expiration Dates. Canned foods can last many years beyond the Best Buy Date. So can most packaged foods like pasta, rice, etc. You are very smart to rotate your foods though! Loving your channel & your positive energy! 👍

@christophervogt7456 Thank you so much! Always more to learn. I like rotating the food because there is always a can here and there that gets lost in the shuffle. It's also a good way to know exactly what I have. It also helps me know if I avoid certain products or have "go to" foods that I go through more often. I'm glad to hear you're liking the channel, thank you!

I would totally use that pizza as a cheesy bread with meals.

@weepingwillowhomestead That's a good idea! It was very yummy and hard not to eat the whole thing at one sitting. Making smaller portions really helps!

When shopping for a toaster oven, look for one that will also air fry, rotisserie, convection bake, etc. It will take up less space than several countertop appliances and use less energy than a regular electric stove. I've been using mine for about 4 years now.

Also put a piece of paper towel in your lettuce bag lasts even longer!

If you have an insulated grocery bag and an ice pack, unplug your fridge overnight when it's going empty and ley it defrost--that little slot freezer up top is the leaking Issue.

Put a towel under it and tip it forward it takes about overnight. And you can also pop stuff into the plugged sink with cold water and the ice you chip off.

@oxymoronassoc Oh that is a smart idea! I’ll have to give it a try and fix the leak! I can buy an insulated bag and ice packs from Family Dollar or i might find a hard sided cooler at thrift store!

Hi! 😀👋🏻 I’ve been looking forward to your video all week! Your haul was so great, but it’s a shame a few things had gone bad. You are quite inventive with your meals-I like that. You remind me of my sister. 🙂 The chicken fritters looked fabulous! Take care and bye for now. 👋🏻

@Judy Griffing Thank you so much, it's great to hear that! Sometimes there's a few items that don't make it, but there is so much variety that it all works out in the end! I have ideas of what to make but when I get in the kitchen oftentimes I improvise!

those fritters look so good! you are a clever woman. we all need to be more creative and use what we have. i am sorry you got some things from the food bank that were already "out". also that you got the smoke in your area. i'm in california and we have had some terrible smokey days in the last year. take care.

@karen jones Oh Thank you! The fritters were a neat surprise, bulking it up with the rice and bread really helped. The air quality warning is not something I usually see here, but the smoke seems to have been mild in my area compared to other parts of the country! Shopping at the food pantry helps get me thinking on how I can put a meal together. Just never know what the pantry will have and how it will all work out, but it works out!

ELF is a really good brand. Be careful of acidic foods when it comes to experations, Look at the cans make sure they are not swollen, rusted. They will go bad before non acicidic

@Lois Prestwood That's good information on the cans, thank you! I tried the ELF cream and like it, I guess it was at the food pantry because the packaging was in rough shape, but the product was intact.

That's a ridiculous amount of carbohydrates in a single slice of plain cheese pizza! Curious, if not too nosy asking, do you have a target number for daily carbs? Mine is 150. I aim for 35 a meal and allow up to 2 snacks at 15 each. Or I cave and just eat one really bad snack lol

Pizza can be carb heavy for sure. I want to be aware of the carbs I eat but do not have a set threshold. If I choose food with heavy carbs, I tend to portion it out because it can be easy to overeat!
