    As a mama who has nursed so many babies, I seriously got choked up about the flight attendant bringing you that water. Those things truly mean so much.

    We were in Okinawa for 3 years and it's a huge praise you guys got an apartment right away ♡ we waited a couple weeks BUT it was just my husband and I at the time (I was pregnant). Have a wonderful time and do t be scared to explore once you are settled.

      How cool! I have a cousin whose husband is an Army chaplain. They really enjoyed their time in Okinawa as well. I’ve driven off base twice so far, so I’m trying to get more comfortable exploring when I’m able to. We’ll just have one vehicle while we live here, so right now I typically have our van available on the weekends. 🤗

    Hi Deanne, thank you for sharing your adventure. I spent 6 weeks as an foreign exchange student in Japan when I just graduated high school. Also, a little over a year ago we moved coast to coast and the stress was unreal. When you were sharing the last hours, I had flashbacks, LOL. We kept packing and there was just stuff we still needed to figure out what to do with. God is faithful! Friends are appreciated!! So blessed to hear you ended up next to the chaplain and family. Need to catch up to see how it all went since I just recently found your channel. God Bless!!🙂

    I feel like we are going to have too much too pack as well!!! We are going to do laundry till our move as well!!! I’m glad our washer and dryer are being sold with our house!!! We are getting extra suitcases for our move, we’ve already decided on that!!! We’ve not heard on what tests are required for our flight yet!!! We already know we will have different time zones but not prepared for them!!! We aren’t able to take certain woods so we’ve decided to sell our furniture with our house and buy new for our new home to prevent any issues. We’ve it decided on what break we take as we travel to Australia and get settled in there!!!

    • @CalledtoCultivate
      @CalledtoCultivate  2 роки тому +2

      We sent our tv in our last “household goods” shipment right before we left. So we won’t see it for another couple of months. What we did do is buy a small projector. It can connect to our Amazon firestick, portable DVD player, Nintendo switch, or phones. We’ve actually really enjoyed having an entire wall as a “tv screen”. 🤣🤣

    How were you able to ride in the vehicles while traveling? Did you bring car seats for the kids with you?

    • @CalledtoCultivate
      @CalledtoCultivate  2 роки тому +1

      We brought our infant car seat with us on the airplane. Then the car seats for our 4 and 6 year old came in our express shipment shortly after we arrived. During the actual travel portion we were able to ride taxis, a shuttle, and a bus without the car seats. Thankfully that was just for two days. In Japan anyone 6 and under has to be in a car seat when in a personal vehicle (not public transportation).

    • @CalledtoCultivate
      @CalledtoCultivate  2 роки тому +1

      From what I’ve been told the Japanese people are very polite and willing to help. I think it has a lot to do with their past interactions with other Americans, which is why they have us take a cultural relations class when we first arrive in Japan. As guests in this country it’s important that we aim to leave a positive impression. 🤗

      😂 I struggled plenty throughout this process, trust me. But as a military wife there are lots of situations where you have to make a choice; you either wallow in self pity and complain about how hard life is or you accept that this is your story and you make the best of it! So as a family we try to find the good even when life gets challenging. God totally got me through every step of the way. HE’S the super one!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻

    Is it difficult to find a church nearby

    • @CalledtoCultivate
      @CalledtoCultivate  2 роки тому +2

      It will be different. In America we had so many churches to choose from. Here there are two on base chapels. One on our base and one on another base close by. They both offer “Protestant” services. Other than that I believe there is one church off base that is a missionary church plant. It offers both English and Japanese services. So we’ll pick from those. 😉💁🏼‍♀️
