Well all I know is I ran my first marathon 15 years ago on a hilly course in Belfast in a cheap beat up old pair of Asics and many marathons and many super shoes later I’ve never got anywhere near my time on that day. The truth is if you haven’t put in the work beforehand then you will fail in the marathon and the alphaflys won’t help you. So are they worth it? For me no, nothing can justify paying £275 for a pair of running shoes. For those that can lots of luck. Great work 👍
@Alex Race. I’ve got Speeds, Pros, Vaporfly, and Alphafly. The Speeds and Pros are nowhere near the shoe of the Alphafly…not even close. Don’t get me wrong, for the money, they are fantastic, and are great for training. But for race day, I’m wearing my Nike’s. By the way, you can buy them heavily discounted if you look around. Bought my Vaporflys and Alphaflys for $250 combined! Picked up new pairs of Speed 2 and Pro 2 from Saucony on their last monster sale for $220 combined.
Could you do a video on looking after shoes and when to chuck them away? Some people leave it to long and get injured, others may be wasting money by getting rid to quickly.

Really struggle with arch pain of these shoes. Need to decide to either send them back to Nike or take the drastic action of replacing the inner … got them for a great price!
Great and practical advice man! But looking at v2 on that proto colorway and resisting to buy it... feels like I'm Dr. Bruce Banner trying his best not to let the Hulk come out. We all know how that one goes. Hahahaha!
Fordy if I go for the alphafly 1 at discount should I go half size up ? ( my right foot is a full size 10 and left slightly smaller) I have to go up half size in some shoes ie my speed 1’s are half size up and fit perfect. Thanks Ian
Like the advice to be patient- I have v1 and they only come out a few times a year for big marathon races. If I bought them now they’d stay in a box till December.
I think you have to learn how to run in them to get the best out of them, 50 miles of various paced runs to understand the shoe and where you land with it and whats comfortable and more importantly whats sustainably fast for you is important. You might be taking life out of the very expensive shoe...but whats the point if you can't run in them?
The Alphafly NEXT& 2. An odd shoe in that threre's this huge almost cult following of this shoe.. And, while likely capable as fans say....there is some negativity around it. Minor things like how "blumbous HUGE" the midsole looks. It's not really....it's no thicker or larger than any other "super shoe"....its just the odd shaping of the midsole (e.g. like 2 CLUMPS of rubber). it's not as if the midsole protrudes out from the foot on all sides....making it look like clown shoes. Price. It's odd what Nike has done with the Alpha. I think back in early 2021 the price while still expensive was more linline with other flagship super shoes at $365 CDN. Then in late 2021--early 2022 to June 2022 Nike UPPPED the price to a ridiculous $450.00 CDN. And there was an uproar. Fans of the shoe and of Nike shoes in general were upset. Nike just dropped the price back down I think in late June 2022 or early Jjuly to $365.99. Smart. Making it not that much more expensive than Asics Metaspeed Sky= ...while still $65.00 Cdn more than the Adidas Adios Pro 3's (the most "affordable" super shoe.....except maybe not cheaper than the Asics Metaracer (very overlooked shoe in the age of "max cushion"....I think "glats" are where it's at truthtfully). But if you're a marathoner.....I dont htink any one could go wrong with the Alpha if you "NEED....max cushion"....If I were a marathoner I think I'd look at the Asics Metaracer first....then maybe the Adidas Adios Pro 3...Shoes are a perishable product after all...put in 500 miles and toss em....
