I saw that movie in theaters back in 1992. I was in college, and my sister was a senior in high school. We both loved it, and laughed throughout it. The special effects looked so good at that time, but watching it almost 30 years later, it looks a bit cheesy! But, I still love it!
@@hippysunshine6997 Such a good movie. I remember around that time, everyone I knew was hung up on Ace Ventura (or some Jim Carrey movie) and I was all about... I won't give away the title. That potion scene had me in a trance, I think that's the one part that's really held up... their hair and make up team was on a another level, they made them look timeless, and not dated... but, yes, I remember the graphics being their biggest selling point in the previews. Now it's selling point is the actors... and the story line. Edit: I checked out the movies from 1992, I wanted to know what Jim Carry movie it was, but I was wrong. The Jim Carrey movie had to do with list of favorite movies for a school project. (I guess you know what my pick was)
It’s literally a clipped portion of some history channel doco from twenty years ago that uses a direct quote from her clarifying her oft used comment in films lol. So yes, she did say she wants to be let alone not left alone.
There is a reference of Greta Garbo in the movie Death Becomes Her (1992), said by the actress Isabella Rosellini in one scene, ("I want to be alone")...
not sure . was she referring to the context of the words. It’s like adding brackets to a quote that gives the tone instead of the raw quote that can be interpreted a million ways.
@@8r3n69 Right. Out of context, a line from a movie (or two) can be attached to the actor who delivered it as if they said it in an interview or even in passing to someone who knows or knew them. Gotta love the Internet. 🙄
@@e.erin.doesn’t matter if you’re seeing it on the internet or hearing it from another person, the internet isn’t the factor here. People have been misattributing or misconstruing quotes from people for thousands of years.
Being let alone means not being bothered. Garbo was a huge star and was constantly followed by the press, even after she retired. She just wanted to be able to live her life with some privacy and not be harassed all the time.
All I know, is she's right about being left alone vs let alone. Personally, I often want to be let alone, while still not wanting to be left alone. In other words, I want some contact with people. But I also sometimes just want the world to leave me alone.
she is still live until today... after take that magic potion.... only a view people know this... :-)
And now a warning...

Death Becomes Her brought me here

Gretta Garbo: "I want to be alone"
Anonymous source: "She never said that"

Incorrect, Isabella was much more gothic than that and said “I VANT to be alone”😉😂
I never said I want to be left alone; I only said I want to be LET alone. There is all the difference."
But here she says "alone," not always "let alone."

I just had her pop into my head out of nowhere and now i know why
All I can think of when I hear this is Bugs Bunny
Love Greta Garbo!
She wanted to be a loan! But who got to borrow her?!
Kind of like someone else with "i'll be back"...
So what, exacty IS the difference?
Being let alone means not being bothered. Garbo was a huge star and was constantly followed by the press, even after she retired. She just wanted to be able to live her life with some privacy and not be harassed all the time.

I understand Garbo wanting to be let alone.

Let alone.
