Thanks for sharing this. I have an 87 mustang that I am putting on and it is my first time. My wire on is the same as your 66 and I was unsure about it and your video helped me. Like you stressed out and nervous doing it. Thanks again.
Just starting this week on fitting my top This video has been very useful its my first time too,
Thanks for watching! Good luck!
Nice job! I have a 68 Convertible and all the parts ready to replace the top. Wish me luck! Greetings from Belgium!
Thank you! Good luck, thanks for watching!
Mate good job. I’ve just done the same and it’s many hours of fiddly adjustments. It’ll settle a bit once it’s able to get some sun and use.
Thanks! I am happy with it so far and it is getting easier to close.
Again Congratulations
Fernando
Hey, Just curious does this convertible top folds and unfolds mechanism?
This series is great though. Thankyou so much learned a lot.
Thanks for watching! It isn't a power top... yet! I have all the parts to convert it from a manual top to a power top and that will in a new video soon.
I’ve followed this whole series, but have missed the place where you got the “bible”. Could you please reply with a link to that.
Even with the few wrinkles you speak about, you should be proud that it turned out so well. My friend that does upholstery says “looks great”. Keep up the fine videos. We are going to try on my 66 after it warms back up in the spring.
Thanks for the feedback! I am really happy with the way it turned out. Shoot me an email, and we can connect on the bible.
How much do the pro's charge to install ? Really interested in that number.
Numbers that saw in my research were $1200 - $2500 plus parts depending the current state of the top in place. That was other peoples quotes though. Love to hear others experience as well.
@@WhitetailGarage You saved a boat load of cash and you did it yourself. I have a 68 coup (10 years now), I have a theory that the love I have for my car is all the work I have put in over the years. I did everything myself with only a few exceptions.
Great job and good luck.
Completely agree! Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@WhitetailGarage I tried to do my own top, found everything to be pretty easy including the rear window section, EXCEPT the main part.
I spent maybe 40 hours working on the sail-panels (c-pillars) and could not get the wrinkles out to save my life. After having reattached the top to the tack strips several times I gave up. I was afraid too many staple holes in the vinyl would ruin it.
Found an installer in a very small town (not a single traffic light kind of small) who specialized in boat upholstery that was able to finish it for me pretty cheap. The low cost was mainly since I had done so much of it, but he charged me $400 for the labor. Only parts he included were glue, staples, and sweat.
(I came here because I am having trouble putting on the trim (hockey sticks) that has the boot-snaps in it. Looks like I should have put that in BEFORE the top)
Now that it's been a little while Have those wrinkles worked themselves out?
The quarters have a slight wave not a wrinkle at all. Everything else is smooth. It looks as good as most others I've seen, I am really happy with the way it turned out.
