I did end up buying this reel with a 12-foot ugly stick big water for sharks anywhere from 4-7 feet in length im thinking of backing it with 50-pound mono and having the mainline 50 pound braid and I also got some 80-pound mono and wire for the leader and rig do you think that will be fine for shark surf fishing

I understand why this can be done with a conventional reel but, won't spooling line like this for spinning reels essentially pointless? I think the oscillation of the spool will revert the line you laid on to the natural frequency.
This is very true that is why on the top portion of the spinning reels we always gap it out like the way a spinning reel will line up the line.... cause the first time they cast thats exactly what will happen and It will over fill... but when that top section is broken off and they get into the lower portions it will fill up again cause that lower line will gap out and they will have a few times to play with break offs... before they must come back and get retop shot... the only other time that this will play out differently is when the are getting spooled by a monster fish....

Yes that is why we mainly sell the 60# give the customers better bang for their buck.. but at the same time have seen where the light test line have also had higher diameters as well..
I don't remember off hand this reel was done a bit ago and I am finally catching back up on all the Spooling I have done still need to post like 15 more..
So the spool says it could get 345 and you got 300 on there. I’m not really surprised. It seems like a lot of reels are getting the amount of line they claim to get.
I won’t spool my line there for sure lol.. all my spool get more than what it say.. caught a big fish and those line will dig into each other the way he spool them line.. no good
We normally get way more than the reels claim they get.. however also depends on what type of braid they are using and manufacturer.. We have set the standard for companies putting a lot of line capacity on their reels many don't believe it so they downspool and try to respond and can't get all the like back on.. has happened atleast a dozen or more times..

I did end up buying this reel with a 12-foot ugly stick big water for sharks anywhere from 4-7 feet in length im thinking of backing it with 50-pound mono and having the mainline 50 pound braid and I also got some 80-pound mono and wire for the leader and rig do you think that will be fine for shark surf fishing
Thats fine used to use that set up for casting for sharks up to 7'... only cause the bigger ones didn't bite and or stay on the hook...
This sounds like a good setup to me but I wouldn’t even bother with the 50 lb mono backing. That’s going to take up a lot of space on your reel.
Yes I would go with full braid no mono unless your using solid braid them that mono will be your top shot...

I understand why this can be done with a conventional reel but, won't spooling line like this for spinning reels essentially pointless? I think the oscillation of the spool will revert the line you laid on to the natural frequency.
This is very true that is why on the top portion of the spinning reels we always gap it out like the way a spinning reel will line up the line.... cause the first time they cast thats exactly what will happen and It will over fill... but when that top section is broken off and they get into the lower portions it will fill up again cause that lower line will gap out and they will have a few times to play with break offs... before they must come back and get retop shot... the only other time that this will play out differently is when the are getting spooled by a monster fish....

So the spool says it could get 345 and you got 300 on there. I’m not really surprised. It seems like a lot of reels are getting the amount of line they claim to get.
Also depends on which line they use to do their spooling
I won’t spool my line there for sure lol.. all my spool get more than what it say.. caught a big fish and those line will dig into each other the way he spool them line.. no good
We normally get way more than the reels claim they get.. however also depends on what type of braid they are using and manufacturer.. We have set the standard for companies putting a lot of line capacity on their reels many don't believe it so they downspool and try to respond and can't get all the like back on.. has happened atleast a dozen or more times..
