Tks. Well said and done. I played trumpet for over 65 years with poor lips and never got good control. Still I had a lots of fun. Switched to tenor sax when I grew older .But last week I unpacked my old Selmer K Modified and will emphasize on melodic ballads. Love it. Keep on blowing pls.

But I know serious innovation has happened in Jazz and I need to use it. Can't wait to hear Faddis andBowie,Snooky Clark Terry names I don't know. Thanks so much for this brief talk I really feel there's a whoe new world out there for me to explore!I'm a pianist and violinist but I want to write for trumpet too and all the other brass and percussion instruments!
When you watch and listen to the end of this segment you can imagine the scene change and a new programme host saying to you: "Well, you can now see what a great trumpeter Warren Vache is himself!" :) Did you think about it?
The history of trumpet in America is like the history of noise. I think of all the recordings of beautiful band arrangements of say Frank DeVol or Nelson Riddle spoilt by the embarrassing screeching trumpets in the brass sections. I think trumpeters join drummers and electric rock guitarists as those who should never had entered the music profession. They should have become, say, automotive panel beaters or racing car drivers instead. As the saying goes: Empty vesicles make the loudest noise.

There have been many great trumpet players out there, but Harry James is still The Maestro, not just one of the gang.
