Bill Nighy is so good that I completely took him seriously even without the CGI added. That's impressive
Yeah, so impressive I can fill in the CGI in my mind cos he embodies Jones rather than phoning it in and letting CGI do the work. Chilling, his movement, the stalking, they not bound to me but the ship....will ye serve!
@@TheWPhilosopher Absolutely. With or without the CGI, he is Davy Jones himself in this scene. I didn't catch any problems; which is why I still don't get why this scene was cut in the final editing.
@@anstjsdlr well I think for two reasons. One quick win - pacing and timing of movie. Two - more fundamentally the majority of the scene is kinda fulfilled in a different way in the locker. Plus it may have caused issues with refilming THAT scene as Swann iirc ask Elizabeth? Are you dead?! Which in the above scene he was told she was alive so would seem a bit odd. Or maybe not. In any case the information on the heart is conveyed to audience and crew alike in a semi heart breaking scene as you can work out before Elizabeth, Swann is dead. You may not know why without this scene but you can infer anyway. That's my take.
@@TheWPhilosopher yeah that is probably it. Though I think this scene is still needed. This scene does not only explain about the heart, but also explains how governor Swan came to learn about the heart.
@@anstjsdlr possibly. I'm of the belief not everything has to be shown to an Audience and we can make our own imaginations do some work. Each their own. Neither right or wrong. I do like the acting above but I can live without it. In fact I prefer it this way so it proves the brilliant chops of acting on Nighy.
God Bill Nighy is a good actor
one of best in hollywood
Bill Nigh-y the Science Guy-y
Keith Hamilton good is an understatement
Even with all the CGI stuff on him, you could still see, hear, and feel his cruelty! Not everyone can pull that off the way he did!
I feel like he is even better without the CGI cause I can actually see his face.
i love how davy jones always comes in bumping the shit out of everyone
Lol literally every entrance he makes when there’s an EITC soldier he abuses them it’s great
@Bee Black I don’t think he was summoned in this scene
Ikr
"(Pushes past military man) I cannot be summoned like some mungral PUP" 😁
@@CrypticHowl apparently you can. *drinks tea* 🍵
bill nighy to davy jones is like jhonny depp to jack sparow
yea, the actor of the role bwahhahaha
No fucking shit
Perfect for the role
Don’t forget rush as barbossa
The other ones paid more? That or the movie wasn't "serious enough". My guesses at least.
Why wasn't Bill Nighy at least nominated for an Oscar for playing Davy Jones
XpLiZiTcOnTeNt7 Right?
Because the oscars are quite a mess to compete for. You actually have to follow a series of precise actions and recommandations for your movie (and I do believe you have to pay for your candidacy). The process is quite bullshit actually, and mainly blockbusters don't apply to those requirements
Actually you're incorrect on the process. Any film that was in theaters are eligible for Oscars. They have to be in theaters for qualification at least 7 days straight, it must be over 40 minutes in length, must apply all credits by early December, must have been in paid admissions in Los Angeles, and cannot premiere outside of theaters. Its actually pretty standard for film festivals. The difference is that it must remain in theaters for as long as possible versus in film festivals they have to just premiere in their festivals or at least be on a festival run, which disqualifies a ton of them that are either in the internet, TV, and streaming services, no matter how good the film is. There is also no cost to get in, what makes it costly is to remain in theaters which is an extremely expensive proposition that is why the films that you see nominated that typically are not nation-wide need the help from bigger studios in order to qualify.
So in essence, a movie like Black Panther can qualify for any nomination in the Oscars. However, it has to go through the voting process of 6000 members of the Academy which is very difficult because typically they are among the best of the industry and they are extremely experienced. They wouldn't put something like Black Panther in the Best Picture ballot.
Oscars aren’t to be trusted
I know right he should of won an Oscar he's so good
This scene NEEDED to have been in the movie
B L A Z E R A K: Ya, cause how els did Governor Swann find out that Elizabeth was 'dead'?
this scene would have been better than that exposition crap he gave by the Pearl..
Kai YES
YES!
@@glamorousgirls2876 I wanna know why he thinks this
Bill Nighy's dark voice is so brilliant.
As Davy Jones absolutely
As if the role was meant for HIM alone.
I love Bill Nighy's facial expression.
they are simply amazing ! he was perfect for playing jones. also his voice is very catching.. love the part " the crew are not bount to meeeeyah, they are bound to the dutchman. and the dutchman, must have a captain"... should have won awards for his performance
Ikr he's amazing✨️
Love the way Norrington tried to protect him, poor man.
haha Boostrap
ikr!
Hands down, Norrington is one of the top 3 characters in the whole franchise.
Norrington is a good man and doesn’t get enough recognition for being so because he is so straight edge and by the book. Even Beckett underestimated him by thinking he will shut up and do whatever he is told yet he sacrifices everything for the woman he loves even though she does not love him back
@@leerogish7223 yeah, James Northington and Elizabeth Swann are quite similar to Davy Jones and Calypsp, one sided love
can we all just take a minute and admire how awesome Bill Nighy was in this series?
"WILL YE SERVE?" Can't get enough of that.
Ikr✨️
I think this scene really added to Governor Swann's character. I wish they added this scene. They could've trimmed down a lot of the silly stuff and kept this.
It added a lot to Norrington's character too. He always did care for the Swanns, it's just that Elizabeth didn't love him-which she doesn't have to-and he was pretty arrogant in the first film. But he is a devoted friend to them, even if he makes questionable choices in regards to leadership.
It also added to Davey Jones'. In an earlier scene with the governor, he gave off the gives that he felt somewhat irritated with his emotions over his daughter. That and also seen here, he doesn't care about anything personal with him killing him, but he wanted him to think more logically than emotionally.
@@roseystudio10 He really wanted him to understand the gravity of what he was about to do. Almost daring him to do it. But at the same time, like Mercer said, he was slyly disuading anyone from taking that leap into servitude
@@hiswayservicesblog9288 what I appreciate about Norrington is that he supported Elizabeth being with Will. He didn’t like it obviously, but he let her be happy and respected her wishes.
The silly stuff went on for far too long. So agree with you. The silly stuff didn't add anything. And Bill Nighy is scary as is just with that accent and the tude!
The delivery on the lines from "The crew are not bound to me" up until "Will ye serve" is delivered so well it gives me goosebumps.
why is that deleted? that seems like a pretty important scene
Superbear275 its on the dvd extras
ikr
Because everything said in this scene is also said in the boats to death scene. So it would have been doubling the same information = useless
Superbear275 because davy jones is still a guy with makeups and weird suit
Yeah, a 3 hours film loaded with irrelevant bullshit. Explaining the curse of those who stabbed the heart was kind of an important plot point to be exposed in a more dramatic fashion. Equally important is to see the last of the Governor, a character who was kind of anticlimactic and dull to see only once and inexplicably DEAD. It felt kind of off to see him sailing as a lost soul, no questions ask. Watching him sail with the dead immediately after this deleted scene would have been a lot more shocking and memorable.
I can see why this scene was cut: people would be confused by the man who's talking like Davy Jones.
I mean if it was left in they would’ve animated Davy Jones
@@Epicbrodude31 it's a joke bruh
That was pretty funny mate
@@Epicbrodude31 r/whooosh
Lmaoo
This scene explains why governor Swann knew about the heart needing to be replaced when he sailed past the Black Pearl in the locker. And it also explains why and how he died. In the final cut it just seems like he randomely died and magically knew the Dutchman must always have a captain 🤷♀️. Its just one of those deleted scenes that definitely shouldn’t have been deleted
I’m not sure I agree that it should have been in the film. While it adds some context, I think the film makers trusted their audience enough to imagine scenarios where Governor Swan learned this secret. More importantly I think hearing about the curse of the heart at the point we did was more impactful.
Is there any more footage of bill acting in the mocap suit? I find it fascinating how he embodied the character.
I love how he conveys the body movements. You can genuinely tell how the tentacles would move after the cgi
I would watch the whole movie this way
"Well, every man should have a secret he carries with him to his grave."
That's as chilling as Shan Yu asking his archer how many men does it take to deliver a message.
Punctuated by the chest as the exclamation point. Plus Hollanders little look off into the distance.
To this day I can't watch that scene without going "DAMN" every time.
Lots of good actors in this movie especially bill nighy even in the motion capture suit he's damn impressive
I love the twitching that you can notice more here. It showcases how disconnected from humanity he is to the point where even his walking resembles the way fish swim in the sea. Stupidly good character
Amazing even without the CGI effects and yet I can still see Davy Jones in Bill Nighy
Even without all the effects, Bill Nighy still sells it all
I like that despite having a mental breakdown, Swann still trusts Norrington. Norrington may be a “by the book” type of soldier, but he will always be honest with the governor.
I will never understand how Bill didn't get an award for his role, he's such a phenomenal actor.
Because the Oscars are paid shills that don't give out rewards for talen or skill. Just to promote their own.
I love how he curls his lips when he does the accent its just really good acting
I'd love to watch the whole movie with him in the gray suit and cap! He is soooo good to watch!!
Yeah but the amount of animating that went into him is actually mind boggling
I love Bill Nigh, and Jonathan Pryce is just as fantastic here. I just wanna give him a hug when he starts crying about Elizabeth.
Bill Nighy is everything. Holy crap. They didnt even need CGI. He is terrifying just
dressed as a prison bell-hop.
And now I want to see all of DMC and AWE with Nighy only in that suit. Even without the effects, he pulls off the intimidation factor nicely.
"Will ye serve?"
Damn, I got chills
1:10 that fast side step at the word "Dutchman" looked so creepy. Had to rewatch it several times to see what really happened.
« Every man should have a secret he carries with him to his grave » epic line, Beckett just said it so calmly, it made him so crual and intelligent by the time!
And it backfired anyways 😭😭😭
Dear God Bill Nighy is amazing. How did he even come up with all those mannerisms?
It was probably the writers lol. He is connected so heavily to the sea that he’s becoming a creature of the sea himself, so one of those ways Davy reflects that is in the way that he suddenly twitches when he moves, much like how a fish looks like it twitches while it’s going through the water
0:44 Nighy won so many points with me for all these subtle movements he put into his character. S Tier actor.
im shook at just how much of a good actor bill nighy is
All the characters in this scene end up dying.
Except Davy. He's back lad.
shame that

What would happen if he stabbed his own heart???
Oh, god, what have you done
No!
and the infinit loop begins...:D
that brain fuck
My theory is he would die but be revived almost immediately...either that or there would be no effect.
I absolutely love the condescending and classy nature of Beckett. His actor really reflects that stereotypical British antagonist mindset perfectly
I honestly loved Bill Nighy's portrayal of "Will ye serve?" In previous moments, he'd ask that to new recruits, hiding from them the dark fate that would await them aboard the Dutchman. Here, he is openly mocking the governor's pain by asking if he's willing to give up his humanity, his very soul, even, by killing the wrong man and taking his place; not only to be enslaved to Calypso's curse, but enslaved to Beckett as well.
Watching this deleted scene as an adult, you can really appreciate the emotion in it. The desperation, the sorrow, the guilt and lack of empathy from everyone else vs the Governor.
Jonathan Pryce was at the height of his acting in this, he actually puts everyone else in this scene to shame, including Nighy (who is one of the BEST parts of this franchise).
I don’t think anyone outperformed Bill tbh. Sure his acting was good here, but then we get Bill showing you exactly how Davy Jones would appear to act even without the features that set him apart from humans, especially with his twitching that we get to see. I really believe Davy Jones is what made this series so unbelievably great.

I'm stunned at how much of a phenomenal actor Bill Nighy is
00:43 even the way way the heads moves! just wow
"Jones is merely cruel." Oh, yeah? And what's your excuse?
Guilty of the sin of omission. < Yeah right Beckett
Bill Nighy’s Davy Jones carried the sequels. I can’t give enough praise to his performance.
I would say he made them infinitely better. Jones is so fucking perfect in the stories he almost makes the movie about him instead.
I just can't get enough of that voice and accent and mannerisms of Bill Nighy as Davy Jones.
Omg this is brilliant it should of been in the final product I wouldn't of mind if it ran over 3 hours a little
I will literally enjoy the whole series of movie with this non CGI-ed version of Davy Jones. Mr.Bill Nighy is an amazing actor.
Nighy's performance is amazing
This should have been in the movie. His acting is top notch. And this scene gave me chills.
It's a shame they cut that scene out of the movie. It's very important to the characters of Norrington and Governor Swann and it's a really good scene.
such a unreal performance . Cant imagine how they act like that . Bill Nighy epic !.
Jesus his facial expressions... its almost like I can see davy right there.. even without the CGI
Bill Nighy is excellent
Bill Nighy: The menace of Davy Jones is not bound to the CGI, it is bound to me.
1:08 jones/bill nye his legs teleport
Nah he just has extremely jerky motion of his body, made his leg movement extremely quick.
Bill Nighy the Science Gighy
Yeah the camera was really freaky. And his last name is spelled "Nighy".
His leggs did not teleported this was great acting from Bil himself: Davy jones had a wooden leg, while turning he had to make a slight move to get the missing legg back in place..al this plus script and facial expressions made for me that Bill was THE best actor to potray Davy Jones. And also my fav Disney villan IF you can call him that, his story is quite sad..Davy Jones came alive true him..like Jack Sparrow did true Johnny and Barbossa true Geoffrey all great actors ♡
i think they edited together two takes in that spot
He's perfomance was so great even without the CGI he's captivating to watch
"You can't make the death of a minor character depressing!"
Me: That's where you're wrong kiddo.
Still a fantastic scene, love the way he barges into the room!
"Jones...is merely cruel".
That's where you're wrong Cutler, Davy Jones is a good character compared to you!!!!!!
Lord Beckett was an awesome character. Every character in this scene was awesome.
@@ryanheffernan9659 judging by the movie, the governor was quite bland compared to the other three, he didn’t have that much screen time and the only highlight that I can remember that he tried to rescue Elizabeth from the cells. That being said, it took me a good while to remember Mercer’s name
You really get to realize in a different way how awesome of an actor Bill Nighy is when seeing him without the CGI. I tip my hat to the man for his amazing work :D
Bill Nighy is Jones even without the CGI.
James pulls the gun, and jones just stares at him as if to say " is he serious rn?"
0:41 that's how you forgot making he's own Davy Jones!
Why was this cut, it’s perfect, and even without the cgi he is amazing as jones
This scene looks so important it shouldn't be deleted. As a kid, watching the movie in theater I was confused to why and how Governor Swann died. Sure in the final cut he did mention why, but it's still fairly vague (from a kid's standpoint, that is).
Also I liked how Norrington silently huffed at Beckett at the ending. It'd seem he already despised Beckett early on which explains in the end he easily chose the pirates' side, n helped them escape the Dutchman, which also led to his death. :(
Also Bill Nighy is nothing but talented
"When I carved that treacherous vessel from my body,. I casted upon it a terrible gesha"
Spelled 'geis'. Pronounced 'gesh'. The added '-a' sound was Nighy adding a bit of color to the dialogue (brilliantly, btw...).
Bill Nighy is the BEST
I've never seen this before. This is actually a really great scene, and why did Governor Swann think that Elizabeth was dead? All I know is that this scene should have been in the movie.
Context is in an extended version of the scene where Beckett brings the heart on board the Dutchman. Jones tells Swann that Elizabeth died when the Kraken pulled the Black Pearl back to the Locker, and suggests that Beckett knew that it happened, but withheld that information.
God.Such a brilliant demonstration of acting. This is amazing. I really enjoyed the first 4 POTC movies.
Bill Nighy, you absolute ledge.
Always Loved Bill Nighy. The Way He Uses His Facial Expressions Fully. Also In The Movie Underworld And His Voice Is Just Perfect For The Villain.
Bill Nighy is one of my favorite actors for this very reason! Whatever the role, he throws himself at it head on!
Bill really just teleported right at 1:10
Jesus christ Bill Nighy’s acting is sublime
Wow, the Gobernor as captain of the Flying Dutchman? Hell yeah! :D
The way Davy Jones moved at 1:12 was so weird, guy is a talent
I love how everyone thinks Jones is gonna give a fuck if you try to shoot him 😂
Incredible movies! Bill!
The alien-like expressions of Nighy's voice, face and body are fantastic. You forget how absurd the motion-capture getup looks the instant he opens his mouth, seriously...
So....am I the only one pissed off that they won't be making a prequel showing a young jack Sparrow working for the EITC on the wicked winch and showing how it was burned and sunk to punish jack. then jack making the deal with Jones and finally showing it being raised from the bottom of the ocean to become the black pearl?!?!
Then instead of "pirates of the Caribbean blah blah blah just call it. "The Black Pearl"
Bill Nighy is absolutely amazing!!!!!
You can tell how it would look as Davey Jones, because Bill Nighy is just that good of an actor.
And that is a good line; "Well, every man should have a secret he carries with him to his grave."
0:44 and 1:10
INCREDIBLE MOVEMENTS!!!!
Bill Nighy is an awesome actor.
its sooooo goood man
That was amazing
This is so cool! Thank you for sharing : )
This scene is where all came together. That must be why Governor Swann asked Elizabeth whether she is dead or not back in the Locker. And that last line by Beckett is totally dark and creepy.
Bill Nighy is an amazing actor
I love the way he moves, so creepy
This was never shown as a deleted scene on one of the DVDs
Duh
Another recommend. This was a great scene, and amazing how the actors keep to character when Nighy's in his m.c. suit. I think it was good they didn't add this because the scene of the Governor on the boat wouldn't have been as shocking.
what if 10 soldiers shoot it at once :D ?
Bill Nighy man. What an incredible actor!
Glad I got to see it☺️
1:10 Mr bill broke reality for a second
