    Feel free to toot your own horn, Will. This is fantastic! I love the work you did on your Novation Launchkey video. In particular, the translucent buttons always stood out to me. They look soooooo good! Thanks so much for sharing this setup!

    I've always struggled with making lit up parts look realistic through the use of emissive materials, and this helps a ton.
    Short story, I started at a new job last spring as an interior designer and I noticed the Keyshot button in Solid Edge after working for a while. Started messing around with it on my own and found your UA-cam channel and started watching to help me learn. I just have to say that hands down your channel is fantastic when you're trying to learn Keyshot from 0 and my boss is thrilled at all the interior renderings I provide him with when we're trying out new concepts. If I'm lucky I might even get a raise thanks to your channel helping me become pretty competent in such a short time. I had no trouble talking my boss into upgrading me from the Solid Edge license to 10 Pro when it was released, and I'm considering buying your masterclass outside of work just to support you and for my own personal learning.
    I guess what I'm trying to get across is, thank you so much for doing what you do. You're an incredible teacher and I'm ever grateful for all the help you provide.

    For best results, I recommend adding a plane underneath the button so it simulates a real COB/LED. That'll give the best effect. Works everytime. For example, if you were to model and render Elgato's Streamdeck. Also, in the case of silicon buttons, sub-surface scattering will give it extra oomph.

      If you try using the approach you suggested, and render an animation of that with say, 12 buttons... good luck. It's too slow. That's why I used this slightly-odd workflow.

      @@WillGibbons 😂 With render farm services out there, this is less of a thing to worry about. But I totally understand!!

      It's always funny when someone who doesn't know better, thinks that he does. Will is correct. It's going to add time to your rendering for no reason. There will be no improvement to the overall look. Even with a render farm or network at your disposal it's a complete waste of time. And not just render time but the time to animate the changes. Will's method looks as good or better than what you are proposing plus it's faster and way more flexible.

    Hi will, i have just facing a problem about the (Undo) option in keyhsot, that is not working. can you please tell me how to fix that?
    currently i am using keyshot 10. thanks in advance!

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  2 роки тому

      I don't think there's a way to 'fix' it. If you found a bug and the software doesn't work as expected, contact support@luxion.com. The undo command doesn't always work the same in ever tool. Did you try going to the menu item (top left of screen Edit>Undo)?

    Hey , i have put 3 animations in queue. One of them has rendered completely but i cant seem to find that file anywhere in my mac. Not in the Keyshot library not in my downloads or any other folder. Will Keyshot first render all the animations and then process it as mp4 or is there something wrong , please help.

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  2 роки тому +1

      I'm not sure. If you look at your render output settings, it should show the file path that it's being saved to. I'd go to look at those settings. Probably that's where the files have been saved. Did you choose to render frames as well or just the mp4 file?

    • @yashmunot4876
      @yashmunot4876 2 роки тому

      @@WillGibbons I did check the file path. it wasn't present there. I rendered the output in MP4 , which doesnt show up anywhere. .MP4 and .MOV is something keyshot is rendering but not showing the output. However I did try to render in .AVI which then showed up in the set folder. I dont know if it is bug Keyshot 9.3 pro has or what. Anyway thank you for your time! keep up the great work.

    How do I actually buy, order, or print the physical form of these buttons

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  Рік тому

      You're asking the wrong person! You can use a 3D printer and make a mold and pour silicone into that mold. But... that's about all I know.

    • @drdanoosh
      @drdanoosh Рік тому

      @@WillGibbons I can make a 3d print mold, but, if I had to guess, you do renderings for clients. Where do they get these silicone buttons.
      There's no way they hand craft every silicone button in house.

    In a similar case, If I want to apply a texture to the buttons top surface and a different material on the sides of the button? is it possible? with-in keyshot???

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  2 роки тому

      Sure. You just need to either split the surfaces apart and un-link the materials or get creative with label placement. Labels are essentially layered materials.

      @@WillGibbons Hello again, I did manage to do that. Thank you! - now, for the contrast falloff as you have used spherical mapping, what if I have rectangle(lengthy) objects and square objects (mixed) where spherical mapping is not working. Is there any way to attain that effect within single material (as I will have to do many variations) sorry for the long complicated question :P
