Hey Will not sure why but there is no option to choose Path for my camera animation... I have every option like DOF, Twist, Zoom, Dolly, but do not have a Path option. Any idea why this might be? Using Keyshot 2023 pro. 2:33
YES! I understand. I just checked. Apparently, Luxion just replaced path animation with keyframe animation. It works the same way pretty much, however, I just tried it and ran into a ton of bugs/crashes. I've reported it to the team and hope they can address them soon. Sorry for the confusion. This just changed in the latest release a month or so ago.
Oh maaaaaan i am so happy i finally find a tutorial creator with the right amount of momentum and respect to the viewer! You keep a consistent, focused and informative narrative - with just the right amount of side tracks of explaining how to do specific settings or QoLs in the program or results. You realise that your audience is intelligent and need no hand holding, you push for quality results and explain reasons and consequences crystal clear. You're a rare gem my man, keep it up! This is how to spread inspiration.
I've been animating fly arounds for large commercial staircase models for the last few years in Keyshot and building the camera paths has been frustrating to say the least. I have tried using the camera path animation previously and had issues with centralising my camera target, and unnatural looking camera motion. I've always ended up using a combination of the single function camera animation tools along with some fancy custom motion easing. Very time consuming, and still a little unnatural looking. It does get me up and around 5 to 18 levels of staircase, but I dread doing them as it tedious and unrewarding visually. These two tips are an absolute revelation to me. I will be checking out your paid tutorials, I need the speed of Keyshot to make what I do commercially viable, so learning the tips and tricks to get around the software's inherent limits is very valuable. Thank you!
I can imagine that animating a camera through an architectural space would be quite the challenge in KeyShot. I'm about to begin creating my KeyShot Animation Masterclass, so hopefully that'll be available before the end of this year!

Hi Will, thanks to your tutorials I will have some animations to show for my graduation presentation. Huge thanks for making all these videos, they help a lot of us.
I spent YEARS trying to make it working properly, unfortunately this video only confirmed myself all the issues I had were just drawbacks of the software. I love the Keyshot with all my heart but any camera movement I always import from blender, its much easier, more flexible, controling the camera path in any real 3D soft compared to weak keyshot tools is like night and day...
Excellent tutorial. Since keyshot has a very powerful import, I wish we could just import 3d curves from a CAD program and use that as the camera path.

Sorry. I'm not sure what you mean by 'camera path alternative'. I used Camera Path for the animation in this tutorial. Can you maybe rephrase your question?
how to set the initial position of Camera -> Path -> Position? As it does Fit To Zoom like starting point which is unable to delete that point. For example, I want to start position with Zoom out (object should be far away) and Zoom In progressively. I am unable to do that with Camera animation using Path because it FORCES the first position which Keyshot decided, rather than user.
You should be able to edit your camera path animation in the geometry view. Right click on the first control point and choose 'edit' and use the handles to drag it to a new position. Or, create a new camera and place it in the starting position you'd like. Then create a new camera path animation using this camera.
How about make it 5 seconds animation where 4 second to finish the camera path and another second to animate the object position to the left for example..?
Hi, you can earn it for free if you join the Luxion Luminaries community and earn coins and exchange them for my courses. Or if you're on my email list, you'll hear about any sales I run occasionally.
Very cool, I would like to know if it can be used to make an animation of more than one subject at the same time, passing to one to another like if someone is walking between them and looking at one first and then to the second one.
Unfortunately I don’t think so. This would require being able to animate a target change which isn’t possible. You could fake it by animating the location of the target though. Wherever the target goes, the camera points.
Nice tutorial, thanks. But I have a problem that’s driving me nuts. I have lets say camera 1. This camera has as objetive one cube that latter it’s hide. I put all the points of the path. I say objetive and I chose the cube. When the animation starts (first frame) there is a small jump from the camera at the beginning (camera 1). After that it’s smooth, but it’s annoying and I can’t fix it. Any thoughts?
Yes. This is because you need to move the timeline to the beginning of the animation. Adjust the camera to the position you wish, then save camera. The reason for the jump is because the camera is snapping back to its last saved position.
Hi Will, am trying this now and it works great. I have a question though, when i right click on a path animation (in the timeline) i dont see 'duplicate' or 'mirror'. When i right click on a 'turntable animation' i do see those 2 options. I want to also reverse my path animation so it goes back to where it started from. Do you know the reason these 2 options are not visible with path animations? And how can i do this reverse path ?
Hey there, you don't see the option because, as far as I know it's never been a possibility. I understand this might not solve your issue, but depending on the scenario, you could render out the sequence and play it back at -100% in a video editing software.
@@WillGibbons Hi, thanks for your reply. Found an option that works, but still doesnt do what i wanted. If you set up a path with 3 'points' (1-2-3) then you can copy the first 2 and paste them after the last one, so that you get 1-2-3-2-1. This way the camera moves back over the same path. Only downside is that i want it to stop for like 3 secs at point 3. Maybe something like 1-2-3-3-3-3-3-3-2-1 would do that, havent tried it yet.
