can't believe they can manage this polished and layered of a sound live at kexp. a lot of great bands come through kexp's live studio and bring a lot of energy and great sound, but its rare to sound this dialed in live imo
Yeule is destined to be one of the legends from this time period of both electronic pop and alt-rock... they followed the blueprint Grimes (largely) helped establish in the early 2010s, and then arguably beat her at her own game several years later with Serotonin II, all self-produced, performed, and mixed at only 20 / 21 years old with a similarly sci-fi / cyberpunk / anime / Internet-inspired aesthetic, an emotional core, and a true gift for melody. Softscars is one of the best albums of 2023 and the Yeule live experience is even better in some ways than the album.
i love yeule so much!! theyre so underrated but im glad more and more ppl have been discovering them and liking their music! thanks for granting this platform for them to perform and for ppl to be able to see how talented they are 💖
I saw yeule live back at End Of The Road festival in August - it was a long-awaited music dream come true, as I had been a fan of them for years before that point but only listened to them through the internet. All the incredibly potent EPs yeule had made starting in 2014, as well their mesmerising, transcendental and oh-so-magical debut album in 2019, Serotonin II, changed my life. So to see yeule in-person, performing live back in August was surreal and ethereal - and what a show it was. yeule gave it their all! It's a shame not many fans like myself were in the audience, as I felt like it was only me who know their songs, sung along and cheered along to them, but I hope yeule knows how much that show meant to me and I'm sure many others, and that no matter where you go or where you perform, you'll always touch the hearts of people who appreciate and adore you. Thank you for all the wonderful music you have blessed us with, yeule - I personally couldn't be more grateful.
Had the pleasure of seeing Yeule in Boston when they came around! They were excellent and haunting, it was really cool how they snapped from distant puppet-robot mode to frantic rock powerhouse mode completely seamlessly and brought the audience with them!
I love Yeule so much. Their music has given me relief, realizing that there are other people feeling the same and creating around themes that are not easy to deal with. This session was something I was not expecting but I'm grateful it exists. I hope I can see them live one day
Gosh I love Yeule’s music so much, I discovered their work around a bad period of my life and it really helped me out of it, Too Dead Inside, will always be the best song from them when I discovered them for the first time
Yes. Im totally agree. For me is so similar. I found yeule in a really really bad period but in the same way... Was the best. Because I can saw things that I have change. I'm start to have the feelings of "I want the change" and yeule helps me a lot .
I saw them play the night after this was recorded and it's sooooo cool to finally see this performance from earlier the same day! Thank you yeule, Sasami, and Fitness for being my favorite live band of 2023
I’ve always knew of yeule but I had the chance to see her at Portola when she released softscars. I fell in love with her album, persona, and she’s overall an amazing artist
rad. also, love how kexp is getting this video format dialed in! totally complements jam in the van and npr tiny desk. honestly i could watch the same artist on all 3 and feel like i saw a totally different performance \ interpretation p.s. fuck yea Ryan, keep up the good influence! p.p.s. alt rock slash hard folk wouild fit perfectly at the Winnipeg Folk Festival!
Yeule music is a favorite of mine, and I would appreciate it if you could contact Jasmine Sokko for a live session as well. Sokko is another talented artist from Singapore
it makes so much sense that "don't be so hard on your own beauty" was meant to be on softscars bc it totally goes so well with the sound. now she got me thinking if there's an easter egg in softscars?? 🤔 it all sonically sounds the same with the exception of the interlude which i doubt it is
I honestly thought Softscars was named as a way to say that Love is soft but also leaves you with scars which are painful. Truly beautiful music. I love Yeule! 🫀
Percebo que nesse álbum Yeule se soltou mais no sentido de utilizar mais sua voz sem efeitos. Fico feliz porque isso me faz pensar que elu se sente mais segure e consegue perceber melhor seu potencial
yeule is so underrated it’s actually crazy. their music has changed my life
Same. They changed everything I knew abou me

She really listens and lets the artist go whatever their head is, what a gem Waters is!

To me this is one of the most intersting artist in his generation.
I agree

idk kexp is great at having all sorts of bands sound great. much better than tiny desk concert, for example

Really arguably cause honestly I don't think that yeule have made albums as huge as Visions or Art Angels.
Time will tell but right now I think if Yeule keeps the momentum she will surpass Grimes who currently has lost direction
Sulky baby makes me cry for no reason. It's amazing how music can affects us so much. I love Yeule.
powerfull notes.
Ya lor
I agree. Lots of songs brought out deep cries outta me
I feel that with poison arrow sometimes
Yeule is so amazing. softscars doesn't feel like a complete departure but also doesn't sound like any earlier albums, a perfect evolution.
i love yeule so much!! theyre so underrated but im glad more and more ppl have been discovering them and liking their music! thanks for granting this platform for them to perform and for ppl to be able to see how talented they are 💖
This and Sasami's own Squeeze performance on KEXP are quite something. The future is bright in these two.
I discovered yeule very recently, just before softscars released, their music is so good. I want to see them live so badly.
I saw yeule live back at End Of The Road festival in August - it was a long-awaited music dream come true, as I had been a fan of them for years before that point but only listened to them through the internet. God tier artist to see live, you won't regret it
YEULE I LOVE YOU NEVER BE AFRAID OF YOURSELF!!!!
Yeule was great in Minneapolis. I also love Sasami who is playing in her band on tour and in this video.
I wasnt sure if that was Sasami or just her doppleganger lol
Dazies is beautiful
Had the pleasure of seeing Yeule in Boston when they came around! They were excellent and haunting, it was really cool how they snapped from distant puppet-robot mode to frantic rock powerhouse mode completely seamlessly and brought the audience with them!
I love Yeule, such a unique project. We need stuff like this
I love Yeule so much. Their music has given me relief, realizing that there are other people feeling the same and creating around themes that are not easy to deal with. This session was something I was not expecting but I'm grateful it exists. I hope I can see them live one day
yeule is a time machine in the best way possible
Gosh I love Yeule’s music so much, I discovered their work around a bad period of my life and it really helped me out of it, Too Dead Inside, will always be the best song from them when I discovered them for the first time
Same.. the calm I feel from listening is such subtle beauty, it’s tranquility almost reminiscent of the death it inspires in me. It’s hypnotizing ❤
Yes. Im totally agree. For me is so similar. I found yeule in a really really bad period but in the same way... Was the best. Because I can saw things that I have change. I'm start to have the feelings of "I want the change" and yeule helps me a lot .

Oh wow! she is playing the iconic "Prince" Electric Guitar!
That's Edwards E-SRK-II. It's the signature guitar of Sakito, the guitarist from the Japanese rock band Nightmare.
I saw them play the night after this was recorded and it's sooooo cool to finally see this performance from earlier the same day! Thank you yeule, Sasami, and Fitness for being my favorite live band of 2023

4ui12 sounds like it could be in glitch princes...
I would like that they had someone playing the bass.
OMG. THe drum blast is so Dynamic not as the album. She,really needs to drop a live album. sooo powerful. These mastering and mix are a good support.
I honestly thought Softscars was named as a way to say that Love is soft but also leaves you with scars which are painful. Truly beautiful music. I love Yeule! 🫀
