The dominant Mute Swan on the Long Water claims the whole lake as his territory, driving off other swans. He takes a very strong line with dogs, especially when one comes near his mate and his cygnets.

I personally hate both the dogs and dog owners who let their dogs unleashed!! This is absolutely a threat to the wild life! This was even full of young swans! 🤬🤬

Dogs who are allowed off leash have typically been trained to be off leash. And even if they haven’t, it’s not a threat to the wildlife. It’s more of a threat to humans or potentially other dogs.
Cats that are left outside however? That’s an extreme danger to your local ecology.

​@@dogmaticjoe1917that is unfortunately true. I remember my family taking care of a lot of stray cats in the late 90s, but when two cats ( i think) started hunting but eating their kills (crows usually) they were eventually trapped and euthanized. Don't remember what happened with the rest.
