I always find it interesting to see new generations finding the joy of these old saws. Used them to make a living in the 80’s. Every 10 years or so would dig up one to port/ play with. 5000 is surely one of the classics, have fun. 154/254 Husky put an end to there logging run here.
Trying to keep this new world stuff as far away as possible until I just can't anymore. They really don't make stuff like they used to, to actually last 30-40 years. 👍🏻 254 is a bad little joker too.
Every once in awhile we hear a saw that’s just music to the ears in the cut and your 5000 has it for sure! One idea I had looking at your carbs is would it be possible to drill that other circuit into the carbs that don’t have one? I’m from the automotive world primarily and I know on those old carbs a lot of times some of the passages on the inside would already be there or could be added easily by drilling one or two holes and tapping them for the necessary fitting. Just an idea if you run low on carbs that are already like that or to show your viewers that it can be done. Again man, that saw sounds fantastic just like it is right now and it’s cutting great.
Thank you man, it dies sound great and has power for days in the cut. I could drill and tap it for sure. But I think I'm going to drill the H side needle seat just a smidge on the other carb when I try it. That way I get more fuel without the governor circuit, worth a shot to see anyhow. Other plan is to drop a Walbro HD style on here from a 046 or a 372. 👍🏻
Thank you man!! Definitely better than the first run of it. Luckily I have 3 good cylinders too so we have some options, but this one feels great. I'd like to get another 500 to 1000 rpm out of it and I'll be very satisfied.
I'll have e to check Into the 630 carb. Never plated with one if them. These WA and WT carbs are just so easy to mod not having the Welch plugs, they just have a gasket you can pop off and drill away.
The 325 is actually a Partner 5500, the 325 is a very rare little bird. 👍🏻 I have 2 of the 325s myself, 1 is absolutely prestine NOS condition and the other isn't far behind, also another NOS almost 325 heading to someone this week. I actually have a video coming on a few differences very soon. The 325 is 46mm vs the 44mm 5000+, they are very quick saws 👍🏻
That's an amazing saw, can't believe i passed same model up a while back, very interesting watching you go through the process of eliminations to get the final product your after, yeah the older saws are way cool until your after a specific part you can't find, for example a new arrival came in a older pioneer p61 good compression, cylinder and piston went to check spark and no spark so on these older models have you ever used a ignition module/chip OR do you just hold out for an original ignition coil?
I've had great luck with the chips, they definitely get the job done. Parts is an issue for sure on the older saws so I try to buy parts and part saws as I see them for the ones I like. I know the p61 uses the same coil as the poulan 655 so maybe look for that, still be a hard find tho.
I have my eye on a partner 2150 demo saw which is a 3120 119cc husqvarna engine. Its got the tank up front for the oiler so converting to a saw should be easy. Its a non runner so i made a offer on it. Lets see what he does. who doesnt need a bigger saw!
That thing is rippin 😎
That yellow jacket freaking screams!!!!!
That's a nasty little Partner there. Nice job.
Thank you very much. Definitely a punch above stock. 👍🏻
Looked like she running strong👌🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼hope ya had a good Easter
Thank you and we had a great Easter and hope you and your family did too.

I’d argue the P5000+ is alot better than the 254, It is lighter and better anti-vibration system 🙂
I love the way that sounds 😅

You just changed my mind on partner 😮 saws 😊

She's fast.

On my 5000’s I have had good luck with Stihl 260 carbs or an old tillotson carb from a 630 Jonsered. No lack if fuel with the big tilly.
I really want to get a block made and drop a WJ carb on there from a 660 😁, that and I have a brand new crank I want to get full circled 👍🏻

Compliments from me today 😊
Oooo doggy! It's a runner! Great Job!
👍👍it was spinning up pretty good!
I got a 55 rancher with poulan 325(rebadged partner 5000 plus) piston and cylinder. Its turning into a interesting project.

Dang haha. She runs like a scalded cat and cuts like she runs.
