Two Steps From Hell piano playlist: • Two Steps From Hell
    Composed by Thomas Bergersen
Arranged and performed by Andrew Wrangell
Original: • Two Steps From Hell - ...
Flight of the Silverbird is an incredible track from the Two Steps From Hell album "Battlecry", released on April 28, 2015. That's EXACTLY TWO YEARS AGO as I upload this video, how about that!
This track has ADVENTURE written all over it! It's absolutely one of my favourites from the Battlecry album, probably in my top 3. When I listen to the original track, I can just imagine the feeling of flight, the sense of thrill! That's what epic music is for.
Full disclosure: This video was not recorded in one take! I piece the multiple parts together because I want to play every single note just right. To be able to put out a new video every week on UA-cam, I just can't practice for as long as it takes to be able to play it all at once. If I tried to get Flight of the Silverbird in just one take, I'm not sure I'd ever get it at all! So forgive my video magic! :P
I'm pretty happy with the way this one turned out! I was worried I wouldn't be able to upload it in time because I had so much difficulty playing it. That's because a section at the beginning of this arrangement was killer. I kid you not, I spent 14 hours practicing just that part at 0:42, with the intricate right hand notes. After 8 hours of practice and five and a hours of recording, I couldn't get a good take. It's practically never happened because I tend to keep at it until I get it. I don't know last time I swore that much in a day. But yes, over 170 takes just for that one part. That's what seems to be necessary to play epic music on the piano!
Some of the rest of this video may look a little harder but by God, 0:42 - 1:06 vanquished me. I haven't had that much trouble recording any part of a video since High C's ( • High C's by Two Steps ... )! And that's is the video that sidelined me for two weeks to recover from playing something so damn difficult, haha!
The image used in the thumbnail is something from Legend of the Guardians: The Owls Of Ga'Hoole. One of my treasured favourite movies of all time. It's one of these special movies that are few and far between - at least to me! The shot I used is from when Soren flies through the tornado - very cool and absolutely in the epic spirit of Flight of the Silverbird!
Two Steps From Hell is hands down my favourite trailer music. The way Thomas Bergersen crafts this music is incredible and it's an absolute pleasure to arrange it for piano, it works so well! I try my best to get that big sound too, as best I can because the originals are such epic music and I have to pick and choose which parts to keep on the piano. I only have two hands after all!
This track was voted for by my patrons on Patreon! Please expect more Two Steps From Hell and more epic music! If you'd like to have your vote counted on what I do next, you can become a patron from $1 per video! And you'll get your name in the credits too. ;)
Please enjoy Flight of the Silverbird by Two Steps From Hell!

0:07 the silverbird is flying above the desert at night, it's warm and the winds are calm. gentle flaps~
0:14 above, the clouds start to part, revealing a night sky filled with stars. more gentle flaps. There is light beyond the horizon
0:27 the silverbird glides on through the night, leaving twinkling sparks behind from its tail and wings
0:34 more sparks, they flutter down gently towards the sand dunes
0:37 suddenly, the ground drops to reveal a deep valley, strong gusts of wind, almost a tornado!! the silverbird soars through the gales like an autumn leaf, going left and right, soaring up in circles. at the highest point, it's as if the silverbird can reach the stars. down again, and up again, like a roller coaster with no brakes.
1:05 the silverbird has reached the edges of the gales! it's high up, almost a speck in the sky like the twinkling stars even beyond the silverbird. Leaving sparkles behind like a mystical unicorn through a forest, the silverbird zooms across the sky, barely flapping, and simply gliding.
1:08 more sand dunes slide underneath the silverbird as it soars on. between towering sand dunes, the breaking daylight reveals shadows of horses speeding along. As if racing, the silverbird flaps and plays in the sky, drawing intricate patterns and swirls of sparkles with its sparks.
1:14 the silverbird is above the horses as they still run on, and the silverbird is looping around in the sky, as if an invitation to play with the speeding mammals.
1:24 bidding farewell to the horses, another strong gust sends the silverbird high up into the atmosphere, the horses becoming tiny specks blending in with the sand.
1:28 high up, the silverbird sees the blindingly bright sun, while it still flies on towards the brilliant daylight. long shadows are cast on the mountainous sand dunes while the dawn air becomes warmer by the second.
1:37 simply admiring the shining sun and watching the navy sky turn cyan, the silverbird still flies on.
1:45 gliding downwards, the silverbird makes a slight descent towards the looming sand hills, zig zagging between valleys as if in a maze.
1:55 taking a turn between the sand dunes, the silverbird finds itself in the midst of a storm. Though daytime, thunderous clouds span the skies, lightning casts shadows from small trees far down below, and rain pelting down towards a canyon with raging waters streaking between. The silverbird soars straight on, as if challenging the charcoal clouds while leaving behind silver glints of sparks
2:08 the silverbird struggles against the winds whipping around, and flaps back with even more power! enough power to blow away some clouds in swirls, calming the storm just a tiny bit.
2:18 the storm surrenders, moving away clouds in the same swirling pattern created by the silverbird, and slowly becoming a slate grey, parting to reveal a shining sun casting its brilliance across the brick red canyons, showing rushing muddy waters below.
2:22 swooping towards the earth like a falcon locking onto its prey, the silverbird takes a plunge and finds itself at the edge of a forest that seemingly goes to the ends of the world. trees throw their branches out like an umbrella shading the silverbird's brilliance as the it zips through the colossal trees. hundreds of small mammals scurry across and tiny birds flutter into bushes lined with ruby red berries.
2:33 a flap of the silverbird's wings and the forest becomes like a fairy tale, with silver sparkles lining every surface, making the rain droplets shine even moreso
2:35 the silverbird flaps a few more times and ascends through the treetops at a lightning speed. As if one with the wind, the silverbird rockets through the dangling roots and pine needles and flies through in a flash of silver.
2:40 above the forest, the silverbird looks back and sees the rapidly diminishing trees, and snaps back foreward, facing the strong gales of wind, to see many deer bravely jumping across a mighty river, fighting back against the rushing water with all their strength. As if cheering them on, the silverbird flies in loops and sharp turns in the sky, leaving sparkles of silver dust above the deer, motivating them even further to cross the spacious river.
3:01 it's time to go, and the silverbird catches a small gust of wind to ride up into the atmosphere again. the twinkling stars gone, the silverbird itself becomes the sparkles in the sky for creatures large and small to look up and find.
3:07 reminiscing on its adventurous flight through the dawn of a new day, the silverbird sees silver horses galloping across, looking up at the twinkling silverbird. but these horses are like the wind, changing shape and shifting around nonstop, hyperactively, like a wandering ghost.
3:12 the silverbird is content and relieved after a day's worth of adventure. the sun begins to hide behind the grassy hills, dyeing the sky a brilliant watercolor of magentas and oranges and yellows. The puffy clouds highlight the sky's saturated colour and changes the bold colours into pastel lilacs, roses, and lemon yellows. the long journey is almost over. the twinkling bird loops across the sky, like its own flock of starlings, and twisting around in spirals; so much that you couldn't tell the sky from the darkening ground. the ghost horses continue to sprint with the silverbird like a shadow, copying its every move. the winds start to whip around again, mixing the silver horses once again.
3:20 the winds slash apart the glimmering horses and the silverbird zips across the sky one last time, looping across in its playful fashion.
3:25 the sun finally sinks below the horizon, the air becomes cooler and calmer, the night quiet and serene. in one final loop, the silverbird vanishes in a cloud of silver sparks.

      Hm.
Little to no explanation of what or who the main character is... A flutter and diversity of words to keep the audience interested... yes. The mystery. That's what hooks people. The curiosity. Keeping that curious mind across the entire book is a challenge indeed. Though sadly, it did not captivate me since i just skipped to the end. Mate, you need a better hook. But the story itself is interesting.
observing this and myself has done wonders for the progress of my novel. Thus, i thank you, megaconure.
Seriously, i was surprised that i skipped to the end because i sub-consciously thought this was just boring but after reading through the entire thing, t'was indeed quite interesting. Other than the beginning.
Note to self: Remember to start off every chapter with something horrible. Not in the "This man was king and now he's dead" sort of horrible, i mean start it off with a chain of events leading to the decent of something. Like Nord's invading Valeran lands, hunting the wyvern's for there scales. To which, one of the imperial council member's said "What if they're using it for armour and weapons? this could not bode well for not just the empire, but the entire world excluding Caldenforma. Bloody grandmaster of the Knights: Black eagle literally holds one of the blades of the 5 Guardian Wyrms and has a bitter resentment for those old god believers."
      ((Ah... i see.))
      You see nothing, DiZeN.

Yes, he might not have created the song itself, but knowing how to take the many melodies, counter-melodies, harmonies, and base and compress it all down into a score that a single pianist can play while maintaining the heart of the song from beginning to end blows my mind

      Here it is:
One has spoken; one has stood,
The world pondered his words weren't good,
      Alas, he responded in uproar,
"Despite that, I'll thrive with my endeavor!"
In the likeness of Earth's nomads,
He scours for essence and acceptance,
"United we seem, yet divided we really are,"
"With this turbulence, we'd never venture far."
      He courageously fathoms the mystery
      Amidst the hopelessness and misery,
He shall stand erectly among the pioneers,
He shall be glorified by his peers.
I'll look forward for your next uploads 😊
