before electrical crap, and computer controlled crap....you broke down, you opened a tool box and fixed it....in the late 1990s I drove a 1968 Mack semi dump with 3 million on it, and that was just used seasonally....there are more guys than you know that have gotten over 4 million out of trucks....EPA and emissions laws have killed that.
22 yrs so far pulling a skateboard and stepdeck and at 42 yrs old, Mr. Spooner is a rockstar in my eyes. I see men like him still throwing iron and rolling out rags and they always impress me. Be safe Mr. Spooner, you are an icon to those of us who know you.
I've watched this interview maybe 5 times over the past year and of all the interviews you have done, this is hands down the best. It was obviously impromptu but both you and the legend, Mr. Spooner are terrific. I've also enjoyed the hour long (+) follow up interview you did with Mr. Spooner. I tip my hat to both of you.
Holy hell yeah!!...an original 61 pete...with an original driver to boot!!...made in America...I read Bob spooners 1961 in a comment off another trucker channel...typed it in...and there it was...good interview..thanks for taking the time.
Wow! Just think how easy it would have been to trade it in on something newer. If more people were like him, this country would be better off. God bless him!
A true American hero and inspiration!!! I'm 65 and hope to be trucking just like him God willing at his age!!! Keep on Trucking & God bless the USA!!!!
One of your best interviews to date ! I LOVE hearing the stories about these old trucks and LOVE that they are still on the road !! The EPA is working to stop history being on the road !!
A lot of people not just truck drivers could learn from Mr Bob, like he said "Doing what it takes to get the Job done". Love to work with this man and hear the stories and learn from him.
Wow. I look up to drivers like that. Millions and millions of miles under his belt and still doing the flat bed business. Thank you sir for the video. Can't wait for the next one. Have a great evening.
This video conveys the "true" old school guys out there still running their rigs and loving the work they do to keep this great country Great. You are commended for sharing this with your viewers, Thank You Chris !

They don’t make trucks or truck drivers like Bob Spooner & his 1961 Peterbuilt any more! You’re talking real pure gold here! Keep on trucking Sir, and may God Bless you & all your family always!
I miss my old narrow nose Pete, drove a 65 for Ray Meza in Los Banos Ca and a 68 for his brothers Fred & Ted. Most fun I ever had in my 38yr career! I would give anything to finish out my career in an ol Pete.
I got to see this truck live down in Sacramento at the 49er truck stop off the I-80 I didn't get to speak with the gentleman but I sure would have loved to take a good look at his truck take a few pictures of it Keep On Truckin trucker respect to you
I spoke to Mr Spooner when I first started driving 19yrs ago. I was passing him on I-30 east of Dallas. I was in a new 379 Pete and he was in one of his needle nose Pete’s. I slowed down to run with him for the next couple of hours. At that time he was pulling trade shows like he said in his interview. He was a very nice and interesting gentleman. Over the years I’ve told several people about running up the road with that canary yellow Pete.
Very inspirational!! Nothing but the utmost respect for Mr. Spooner, great Pete too!! Wish we had a million more like him out here but with all the new regs I don't blame the veteran drivers for retiring. If I see ya on the road Mr. Spooner I will buy ya the biggest and best steak dinner we can find!! Way to go buddy!!
Thank you for that video. It seems this gentleman has had a good life and will continue to keep going. Age is just a number, don't let someone say you have to stop doing what you like doing in life.
My hats off to Bob!!! I drove for my dad for 10 years, and I have to say I would do it again if I had to, I would just do it in a different rig. That old GMC astro cabover rode like a sherman tank dragging 3 more behind it. Great job Mr Spooner, wishing you many more years on the road!!.
I'd have to say that as much as I enjoy the movie convoy this man right here is the original Robber Duck. Outlawed Legend. Keep them wheels rollin on 18 wheeler roll on. God Bless Mr. Spooner.

Every one should remember that "if it wasnt for the old school ways, we wouldnt be here today" Keep trucking Brother!!!!
Had breakfast with Mr.Spooner about a week ago at Lisa's in Moriarty NM. A very nice guy and very interesting to talk to! So October 2017 he is still trucking. He was on his way to California.
Wow! To find Bob Spooner on UA-cam. I painted that truck with Dupont Imron many years ago at Blue's Body Shop in Batesville, AR. He had several million miles on it then. I am saving this video.
Yes sir, I've seen this truck a time or two and it's just too cool. That gentleman is what's good about the industry and what a privilege it would have been to work with and learn from him. Thanks for the video and thank you Mr. Spooner, my hat's off sir!

you're not kidding Cjennings1120 it is hard work. I tried it when I first started out in 1971 and it was brutal in the Las Vegas sun with those old canvas tarps. I got into tankers because of all that hard work.
Really good to see Bob. First time I met him was about 40 years when he was getting some maintenance done on his rig. It was at Mel Tinker's shop in Rosemead, California.
Unreal old truck. You gotta respect this guy. It’s tough to find old drivers like this, and still in good health. So many like my dad died young from smoking too much & eating that greasy truck stop food. God bless you, Bob!
