The rhizomes can grow pretty quickly and fill out the pot. I’ve even seen plastic pots eventually split from overcrowding. I’m not sure of your fertilizer or fertility but they are extra hungry. If they dry out and are not fed they won’t bloom well. Take the example I showed about the small sad plants in the video. Those haven’t bloomed yet while everything else is thriving.
Yes I have the same problem, mine are not blooming. They are tall and green, no flowers. They bloomed last year. I have them in flower pots. I have different varieties and colors. Thank you Dolores.
Where do you live? Lack of water and extreme temps are usually what causes that. You may need a tray under your container and keep it super soaked even to the point of standing water. Maybe that will help? Let me know
we just leave them do their own thing and they vary from struggling 1 foot to massive 12 foot plants, let them go over winter where they get very wind whipped and scraggly then at the start of spring they are cut to the ground and within 6 weeks they are back in abundance ..i started with 5 rhizomes ..5 years later i dug them all up..omg..i stopped when i had filled 3 queen size quilt covers full! thousands ..now each summer we have walls of cooling shady cannas
MASSIVE Canas? We put them in full sun and leave them alone. Year after year they keep coming back and grow like weeds in the South! A huge draw for bees, frogs, lizards and Hummingbirds. We mixed a nature pond in with our Canas, which are full of tadpoles. Natural pest control! : )
good stuff. very helpful info , well spoken. fun facts too!
Thanks a bunch!
Any tips for growing cannas in pots? I have some that are not blooming in spite of being watered regularly and getting 6 hrs of sun daily...

These have grown even taller since your last video about them! They are amazing! I know the hummingbirds go crazy for these babies!
Oh yeah. Hummingbirds really love the flowers. I can watch them out of my window all summer long

Yea I get tons of hummingbirds as well. If our winters are too wet and cold I will lose some but they usually multiply during the summer and rebound
