"The game is gorgeous, I just don't have the patience to play it."
And honestly? That's fine. I was in the same boat too but perservered in spite of that, but I also fully understand when others don't, because the game does require both patience, perserverance and the experience of many deaths to overcome it, and that 'can' be frustrating.
Heck, I was on the verge of rage-quitting several times in the early game, mostly thanks to the Tree Sentinel because my pride didn't let me run away from the challenge he issued the moment he put me six feet under when all I wnated to do was admire how cool he looked.
TL:DR Game hard. Not everyone vibes with that, and that's perfectly okay.
What make's Elden Ring and From's other games so interesting to me is the way their stories are delivered to the player. The player is given enough information to understand the basic A to B plot, but a lot of the deeper story info is hidden away for players to discover over time, like a mystery that gets slowly unravelled over literal years. I finished Elden Ring a month or 2 ago, but I feel like every day I am still exploring it's world, discussing theories with my friends, reading speculation online, etc. I know a good few people who have never even actually played the games themselves, but just enjoy following the lore and story of them.
Having someone help you along in a Soulsbourne game (Elden Ring, Dark souls, Bloodborne, etc.) is incredibly helpful. You’re right it does take time but if you have someone to help, I promise the game becomes a little easier. A little, tho don’t get excited haha

All the hours of painful patience has paid off i mean hell my biggest challenge was the tree wyrm north of him who turned my corpse into turkey jerky

I'm a firm believer that Souls games really can be for anyone and everyone. Victory comes from persistence, not from skill. If you want to win in Elden Ring, you will. My biggest piece of advice is to not be discouraged by death. Death is part of the game and a learning experience. Once you learn to not mind dying, the game really clicks for you
I think the biggest lesson to take away from dark souls games is to not be stubborn.
Elden ring takes the “you can come back to this boss when you’re more powerful” to the extreme.
I think people get caught in the linearity trap and think that dying to an early main story boss means they’re bad. When the reality is their character is just weak and underpowered compared to what the game “expects” you to be.
It doesn’t help that From Soft takes a VERY obtuse approach to telling the player this. I’ve had friends throw themselves against Margit for 2 hours, and then quit becuase they got smacked for 2 hours.
Nothing ever pushed them towards just going out and exploring, practicing combat, gaining power and upgrade materials.
Luckily I told them to try that and got a few to get back into it and start making real progress.
Suddenly they’re elden lords simply because of simple advice that the game doesn’t do a great job (or any job really) conveying.
I watch these, and just notice how many people are surprised that I-frames exist and can be used on all damage sources (you can dodge through the chariots as well, though using Bloodhounds step makes it easier).
Seriously, you can backstep dodge lava damage.
Yeah they use a lot of that stuff in fighting games especially

9:39 The Ancient Spirit fight is indeed incredibly beautiful and atmospheric, and includes one of the best music tracks in all the Souls games. So I highly recommend you look it up, even on its own.
This game and Demon Souls and the Dark Soul games have easily shaved 100+ years off my lifespan.
this game is gonna take me months but I'll be damned if I don't see the end of it.
When Elden ring came out I promised myself I would be the dark souls trilogy so I could have some skill coming into the game, 120 hrs later it really felt like I earnt it , so that’s nice I guess , also some context for margit/Margaret Thatcher: she was the prime minister of the U.K. in the 80s , and was in charge during the conflict “the troubles” where Ireland wanted Northern Ireland back from the U.K. there was a reason her nickname was “The Iron Lady” lol

Love how he makes a very cool opening that it makes me want an Elden Ring anime.
The best thing about these games is that you don't have to kill all the enemies. You only kill them for currency or the occasional item drop, so you can just run past everyone until you hit three sites of grace, then switch between leveling up runs and death runs. There are better ways to get runes later, so it's better to only hold the amount you're willing to lose unless you're leveling. Everything else you pick up will be kept even if you die.
Imo even if you dont end up playing the game yourself finding a way to at least see the scale and beauty of the game should still be awesome for you. For instance that deer boss (which is btw a part of a whole huge underground area with a beautiful fake sky that looks like its filled with stars) coupled with the music that plays was such a serene visual the whole time that I almost didnt want to kill it to see what sweet loot was inside of it.... almost...

If you ever somehow get convinced to play elden ring, there are ways to make it easier, such as summoning people to kill the boss for you, it's kinda epic

One of the cheesy caster builds might be for you, honestly. Iron Pineapple has a good video on how to get that setup. You basically blast down bosses with a kamehameha wave and otherwise throw boulders at other enemies.
I've only tried Dark Souls before and if nothing else it taught me how short my patience actually is.
20:20 I'm not sure if that's patched or is it as working as intended due to I-frames. You don't "dodge" per se, but weapons just pass trough you. You can even evade delayed embers or dragon's breath that way.
Doesn't work on pools filled with Scarlet rot or poison(matter of fact, if you try to roll trough them your poison level increases). Also all sorts of damaging mists still do damage, which is the reason they are so popular in multiplayer because only way to avoid taking damage is to stay out of their way.
I just want to tell you that if you really want to get back into the game and enjoy its visual beauty and Eldritch horrors I say get back on that steed and ride on.
(Story TIme Incoming) I never played a FromSoftware game until Elden Ring and everyone, verterans of Dark Souls, Seikiro, and Bloodborne, told me to fear it, one day me and my pal were walking in his neighborhood and he brought it up and one of his neighbors (guy prob. late 20s early 30s) shaking in his boots just from us bringing the name up explaining to us how much sleep he DIDNT get fighting the same boss (Like one of those people in horror movies that know everything about the monster and dies after exposition dumping on us).
Then I finally bought the game a week later, Golden Boy on horse kicked my ass, ruin soldiers kicked my ass, first demigod about 2 hours of kicking my ass. but every time I died I learned something new about the enemy and myself to effectively fight each opponent. I know what battles to fight and there aren't too many roadblocks where im like "OK, I have to fight you to move on". I also watched short videos, on how to use items that intrested me. Another thing too is changing contorls to fit me that helped alot.
The sword fighting is like a dance, you want to learn your partners movements you let them lead and be on the defense until you know when the right time to take control is. And let me tell you when I learned that first demi gods moves that battle was a breeze and the ecstasy of victory after a hard-earned battle feels great. The last time I got on I took Mr. Golden Boys head, THAT moment was the true visual proof of my improvment. I still got a long ways to go but I feel for the most part in control, and eventualy you will too. Good luck on your journey fellow Tarnished, if you wish to continue it.

Patience is not something you're born with, it's a trait that is developed through trial, error and plenty of self-reflection

Spending 3 hours on some of the Bosses in the game is to be fair. A relatively small amount xD
Some people sit on those bosses for like 10 hours only to find out that they have a second phase

I felt the same as you when I played Demon's Souls on PS3 which was my first Souls style game. I ended up putting the game down and coming back later and something hooked me differently. I wanted to defeat the boss to see the next area because exploring the game's world was so interesting and soon I beat the whole game. I've played them all since. FromSoft just knows how to create dark fantasy settings that pull me in.
I was never able to get into dark souls or the others before elden ring. For whatever reason, though, elden ring works for me, and I love it to bits. So glad I gave it a go.

I've beaten Elden Ring, but it took me 200 hours and multiple pieces of sanity. Can't wait for part 2!
The last boss is epic but for the most part the entire journey feels nostalgic now, trying out every weapon you find and dying every step along the way. Beat the game with a dual wielding gravity great sword

Fromsoft games are not for everyone. No shame in admitting that whatsoever.
Elden Ring is the game where you play as random npc and all bosses are main characters.
Maybe try Code Vein. It's a souls like, but It's easier than most souls likes.
There are actually some tutorials to make elden ring more accesible, using magic and sumonning, for instance.
I wish those were stone hands... But no, it's all flesh.

Souls games are more or less a complex electronic drug. Sure, the story's interesting, the game's mechanics are challenging and the music is glorious, but it's a very specific aspect of the game that gets you hooked: beating a difficult boss. Now, that sounds obvious, but for Soulsborne, it's in a whole league of it's own.
Notoriously, each game will have _at least_ one mob enemy or boss that will _absolutely destroy you--_ multiple times, in fact. Then, in a moment of desperation, you try something new and barely scrape by with your first win in hours. The sudden rush of euphoric bliss that you experience after is practically indescribable, yet ever present the more trouble you have.

I would love to see Queen streaming souls games. Doesn't need to be Elden Ring, you could start from Dark Souls 1 which is much slower. That would be very entertaining i'm sure

Rewatching this is making me want to start a wretch (lowest level and least free equipment class) to playthrough the game and force myself to get better at it.
20:22 Souls games rolling has a small window of invincibility depending on your weight based on armor and weapons you have equipped. Most people have Medium Roll. I think it's like a quarter of a second or so that you're invincible during the beginning of the roll.
Heads up, Elden Ring is the easiest Fromsoftware game (for at least the first half). Its a great place to start their games

Look, you could always stream and engage super couch gaming mode, aka, you follow the viewers tips.. because to be honest, a lot of these games is knowledge. knowing how shit works can make it considerably easier.
and thats not even considering all the easy mode stats or you know, just summoning the viewers to help you.
also, everyone hd the same thought: "i cant do this" when they started. its normal. and while i wont judge people wo dont have the time or patience to learn these games, i will be completely honest here, if you dont, you are losing the experience of probably one of the best goddamn games ever.
