    Amazingly good and detailed review. I'm quite impressed by Juan's knowledge and skills at explaining all the ins and outs to his audience. I got this Verizon box and it is working well enough to decide to switch providers. But I did experience a few glitches with connecting to Eero extenders, and eventually worked all that out over a couple days.

    I have the T-Mobile version of this for the last year+ now and in my particular location, it's working out really well. T-Mobile also is running a $25 for life deal on their 5G Home Internet and I got it for my parents who live a little over a mile away and their service was very sketchy, unusable most of the time and had to return it and go back to Spectrum even though I am in a very central part of LA with plenty of T-Mobile signal saturation.

    This ended up working out better for my family. We currently pay $85 a month for Spectrum 250/12 service. I was able to get Verizon 5G for $50/month. We live downtown on the second floor of an apartment complex with clear line of sight to a Verizon cell tower. So, this was a perfect candidate to test out. If I could get consistently better performance for $35 less per month, it would be worth it. I'm just a few days in, but it's looking promising. I pay for the 85-300 tier which is purposely conservative. Most of the time, my Google router measures around 500/100. The lowest so far is still significantly faster than my Spectrum service. So far so good. This is looking like a keeper. I live in an area with great infrastructure next to a college campus, bus station and various businesses. I don't notice any significant issues during the day. I use this along with my Google Nest mesh equipment and I don't notice any drop off in speeds between my equipment and the Verizon router. This was not the case when I trialed T-Mobile's 5G service. Their little router didn't play well with my equipment. And for the record, I wasn't a Verizon customer and ran into the same "half-activation" issue. Had to call support and 1 hour later it was resolved. Second issue I had is that the setup is completely through the app. Step-by-step. Every, single, step. It requires you to pair the Receiver portion with the Verizon app on your mobile device. Problem was that the Bluetooth setup didn't play nice with my Pixel 4L. I couldn't pair with the device and had to factory reset it multiple times. Thankfully, I had a second device I could install the app on and the Bluetooth setup completed successfully. Once I passed that point, it was smooth sailing.
    So, to conclude, what will happen as more customers come on board? Who knows. Hopefully performance won't tank too bad. One thing I should point out is that now, Verizon is shipping this in two pieces. They'll send you a 5G Receiver that's essentially a modem, and they also send you a big router. It looks like the same one they send to their FIOS customers. The great thing about this is that if you move to an area with FIOS service, you should be able to bring this equipment with you and use it with that service. I'm happy with it so far.

    I have it myself and it is a backup to my Spectrum Cable internet. I am a Verizon customer so it added 25 to my bill for an unlimited backup connection that tends to get speeds of 280-320 Mbos down and 15-18 upload speeds. I got it in December. In March they activated more towers near my condo with the C-Band 5G so that I could move the gateway from my master bedroom to my gust room desk. I have 500 down and 20 up with Spectrum. Upload is what I crave too. Spectrum is doing mid and high split upgrades that will massively increase upload speeds. Is fiber not available in your area? I miss my gig fiber I had in Boston with Verizon.

    I love mine. I wish I could have fios in my area but nope. Miles better and more consistent than spectrum and WAYYYY cheaper. Since I'm already a verizon customer it was easy to get it added. While I was in the process of moving between homes I would literally just plug and unplug the box and take it with me to the different houses hahahahaa. I know the tech has been around for years and 5g is just a marketing thing but I regret wasting so much cash on spectrum over the years

    I love my Verizon 5G home internet, no data cap and price being so cheap compared to Comcast which I was paying $85-100 a month not including the unlimited data which would be another $30 a month and then equipment fees and taxes brings it to be quite pricey. Verizon includes the fees and taxes as part of the price which is awesome.

      I will poopoo on verizon 5g & their fios as well. You are a person which I enjoy in my rear view. For your knowledge, there are physical limitations transmitting data through radio-waves regardless of wireless band. 6 GHz will be much more efficient & faster, but again there will be limitations. Cell phone tower is connected to hundreds to thousands cell phones & speeds will vary based on users & devices streaming simultaneously. yes, 5G has a higher capacity compared to Long Term Evolution (LTE) network, but data transmitted from cell phone towers eventually end up in ISP servers & routed to destination servers which are located throughout the world. For example, if you are using an app which has your private health information (phi) or banking information, by law, the data is stored somewhere in the united states and your speeds will be much faster accessing that data, but if you are streaming to a website & their servers are located in eastern Europe than it will be relatively slow compared to servers near you. Having fiber optic or 5G is just a medium to flow data, but there are many variables which can impact the speeds.

    We have the 5G home internet box as well. We initially got it for our winter home in Mission,Tx and it worked well. We were told we could bring it back to iowa and use it there. One problem where we live in Iowa does not have 5G yet so we tried it anyway and are able to get 3g speed which is pretty slow but we made it work. When we signed up it only boosted our account total by 5.00 dollars…..somehow we got a loyalty discount of 20.00 dollars

    Very interesting how rough your setup experience was. I have visible for my phone plan which even though it is owned by Verizon I had to set up a new account (visible offers $5 off for Verizon 5g home internet). Setup was smooth and I had internet in minutes. Overall I'm going to keep the 5g home internet with the biggest perk being no data caps. I'll be connecting nest cameras around my house and I want to get the best quality camera feed. It's not the fastest speeds compared to comcast but the service has been stable for me at 250down/20up and that is good enough for my usage. Haven't tried gaming yet. Just casual streaming services.

    We’ve used the V5g Home Internet for 2 mos. We’ve used Verizon Mobile for >10 yrs. A perk: V5g H Internet free for first year, then guaranteed $25 Ttl/mo for the following three years! I placed the V5g gateway in windows facing 6 directions. It worked fine in each location. My house is in NE Austin within spitting distance of Dell, Samsung, Tesla gigafactory, etc. -May have something to do with our service. We run three iMacs, two MacBook pros, a MB Air, 5 iPads, two printers and three iPhones from that li’l white box! Upload and download speeds are at least as good as Spectrum was. We’re very satisfied!

I got stuck not being able to set it up because my account was a shell account and apparently the store I picked the device up from did not transfer my device from ready to pick up to picked up. Then today I was able to set it up after being on with customer support for 45 minutes about. The help lady was upset because she couldn't get it to activate either. Had one of these for several months. Sometimes gets decent speed but download often throttles down to 3 Mbps. Very dependent on network traffic at specific times and home internet gets the lowest priority. Was not reliable as the only internet service for our home. They say no data caps but very slow speeds seemed permanent half way thru billing cycle every month at around 300 GB of usage. I kept my cable service during my test period and had to often switch our home back to it. As a point of reference, we have a number of smart things including cameras that use bandwidth as well as streaming television. Streaming was choppy even when the signal strength showed 250 Mbps. I gave up when I contacted support with very slow speed issues, one day, and they told me I was using to much bandwidth and this solution was probably not right for me. My bottom line, it works fairly good but then it doesn't. I returned mine as well.

      To much bandwidth? I have about 10 computers hooked to this and my smart tv ,there has been a few times I had speed issues but not enough to worry about or even complain about. even with all that it would go down to 124 MPBS download speed from 300 MPBS download. Upload is what really sucks for some reason somedays I will only get 6 MPBS upload speed, however I dont upload things like video or big files on this. I was running second life for a while on my 5g home it actually worked really good.

    we live a couple/few miles outside of town in my state, basically rural area but its still considered the same town. anyway, i called multiple IP companies and basically all thats really in my particular area is satellite internet. which we got when we first moved in here, it was fine in the beginning but after a while we got rid of it because it had a mind of its own (big surprise) and would intermittently drop offline, sometimes for days. so i googled till i was blue in the face and 1 day came up across tmobile home internet. which was just ok in the beginning to now its really not all that great. now i`m considering looking into verizon to see if it will be any better.

    I haven't really done much research into the best location for mine other than walking around the house and doing 5Guw speed tests on my phone. Everywhere is about the same.
    As for the SMS issue, that's kinda funny. The T-mobile box has a screen on it showing signal strength and incoming SMS, but that's majorly lacking on the Verizon cube. Hopefully the next Gen box from VZW will have better info on the box.

      It might be a good combo.
      Your modem gets the internet from outside your home. The Router routes the internet to all the devices INSIDE your home.
      This box is a modem and router in one, but you can use your eero instead of the built in wifi.
      If spectrum isn't giving you good speeds, even with an eero, it might be worth taking the VZW modem for a spin.

    I have this service now, for about four months in total. Nothing but issues. Live in the Augusta GA area and a cell tower is about a half mile away from me. You can see it from my son's bedroom window. Went with the plus plan to get the 300 to 1 gig speeds. Well thta's not happening, we were told after we set it all up that the best we could get, if we are lucky, is 300 down, average around 150 down on a good day. Closer to 80 to 100 is average. Very laggy with gaming as well. And then the little white box broke after two and a half months, takes about three days to get a new one in the mail. ( can't go to a Verizon store to swap out ) This one is no better. Both have had to have multiple resets weekly because its locking up or losing connection. I'm guessing it's Verizon in this area more than anything else, Maybe not quite ready for this type of system for use here. Think they have some equipment upgrades that are needed to make this a better system here and was rushed out anyway. About to switch to another provider again.

    I've had the Verizon 5G gateway for little over 2 months now. I kept my cable internet for a while to make sure it was working good and slowly started adding devices to the Verizon wifi. I have 14 devices counting Alexa, security cams, etc. After a couple weeks I canceled cable and instantly saved $100 a month for internet/wifi. It's been working good. I stopped using my router and extension completely and just use the Verizon cube. It works great from the middle of my condo and get excellent signal in every room. The only issue is my son is a gamer and I hear him effin' and jeffin' every so often. We've just started getting internet drops the past week. I hope that's not going to be a regular issue.

    While this might work out for some folks, my biggest gripe is that this does NOT increase the signal strength. Sprint years ago had something similar in the form of "signal boosters". What made Sprint's different is that, while still required a similar set up to this, it would actually boost the signal as opposed to just distributing the signal that's already there. In areas where signal is weak, this does nothing to help. While I want this to become the norm and put pressure on traditional ISPs, half of these solutions ARE from traditional ISPs, which doesn't help for competition to enter the space.

    • @10super
      @10super Рік тому +1

      That's not a signal booster.. it's a router just like what cable companies give out except connects to a tower.. not a fiber or tv cable. If the signal you get is weak then maybe that's a good option for you right now.. as they keep building the network it may getting better in your area.

    • @Gabilleta
      @Gabilleta Рік тому

      @Super10 What Sprint had were ACTUAL signal boosters. I should know, I still have the boxes from them. They were actually quite large in size in comparison to what T-Mobile offers nowadays. These had a touchscreen that you could interact with them to set them up. During the setup process, the box itself would tell you that it was boosting the signal. Also, they came with pretty long warnings about exposure and distance keeping. I have what T-Mobile considers a "signal booster" and all it does is use your current home internet as back haul to distribute 4G LTE from a nearby tower, but it does NOT boost the signal itself. It also does not have the same warnings as the one from Sprint.

    • @10super
      @10super Рік тому +1

      @@Gabilleta I'm talking about the verizon cube in the video isn't a booster and yes sprint had something similar but it wasn't a router like what's in the video.

    To close the plan for the Verizon Internet, I had to go through three customer service representatives. The first two said they kept getting an error. The third one was fast talking and seemed to want to get rid of me. But, he did say that he would have the return kit sent to me so that I can return the box and wires for the Verizon Internet.I have been a Verizon customer for years. This was very rude.
