These are the kind of videos the Community needs.. An experienced person speaking based of experience. Such as basic statement is truly calming "Warm Puppies means Live Puppies", words from experience right there. Meanwhile all the new breeders on youtube that want to make videos just talk about "make sure you rush your puppy to the vet, do this and this and this and that blah blah blah and just make everything so complex. Those kennels are also proof of experience.
The puppy rail in the box, the 4x4, it appears to be CCA treated lumber. If so, whether by chewing (evidenced in video) or skin contact, isn’t there risk of arsenic, etc., poisonings to bitch and/or pups? I’m familiar with a go-to-ground terrier breeder who nearly annihilated her Scottish Terrier program, because she had lined their running pen with rail road timbers. During summer (in NE Missouri), dogs would lay in shallow digs along timbers. As her stock began dying off, she was led to do autopsies, finding the wood-protecting chemicals in the RR timbers were poisoning the dogs via contact. Isn’t there similar risks using CCA dimensional lumber in kennel construction? Thanks for any info you can share on this point.
Railroad timbers are treated much harsher than general treated lumber...not even close. Just let it dry up nicely, and it isn't an issue. Been using it for 20 years.
Nice set up and good information. I'm studying animal behaviour housing and husbandry welfare as well as grooming and other modules. My only question is would having wooden lats instead of the metal not be better for paws? I'm still learning obviously so any advice or info is appreciated.
How do the pups handle the different weather conditions at various times of the year? Such as the heat in the summer and the cold in the winter? Is it necessary to have a climate controlled whelping kennel? Looking forward to hearing some advice on this topic if you have time. Thanks, nice set up
Fantastic "design". Well thought out for the dogs. Love she can get away from her pups when she wants. So important. What would be "ideal" would be to have plastic roofing "beneath" the grid flooring on a slant that would collect all soil and spray off, from cleaning, (love my Wysi wash) that comes through to a trough that would direct that into a DIY septic. No smell, less flies and always look and be clean where the dogs are... I also love plastic Poultry flooring instead of metal flooring grid, but yours probably works better. 1/8" HDPE Plastic is awesome for dividing dog kennels so they don't see each other, no smell and easy to clean too. Menards. has it.
Looks great! Mmmm🤔 I just watched another video on (how to build your own septic system) by Solid Rock kennels... It looks easy clean up and very similar to your setup!👍
What do you use for bedding in the winter? I’m in VA and think pups may get too cold. Right now, I have a 6x6 shed I heat at about 55 degrees or so. It is a pain in the butt, but it gets in the teens here.
Not my post but I live in Wisconsin, had pits for 25+ yrs.I used marsh hay it breaks down to almost dust, doesn't hold moisture like hay,guy is on point hay is bad for'em if you don't constantly change and clean. You already know how cold it gets here.We also used lime & pea gravel under the welping boxes for the urine kept the smell and clean no matter what gotta keep it clean period,he has good methods.☝️💪
No. I know some people that have done so, and they had fires...and here in MS it isn't necessary. We don't get that cold...30 F is about as cold as it gets...and with bedding, momma, and a low roof, they stay plenty warm.
What kind of bedding? I’d love to use cedar shavings or expandable pine pellets, but read the pups may choke. I’m ising fleece blankets- they are 4.5 weeks, what a mess. I need a different solution.
Have you ever had a problem with dogs getting their toe nail caught in the expanded metal? I have had a lot of dogs, twice we had dogs rip their toes almost off. Is this common or was I just one with bad luck with expanded metal? No hate just wondering.
@@johnathoncinnamon6893 I didn't say they weren't "wonderful dogs." But, they were not bred for work. That is why you want to see me "turn him into a working dog." If they were bred to work, then you wouldn't need to see me turn one into a working dog.
Maybe you are too young to know, but the term bitch means a female dog used for breeding...just like stud refers to a breeding male. Unlike some programs, we love all our studs and bitches very much, and they are part of our family. I use the term "bitch" because I am not referring to the dog in the video...but to any of our females that are used for breeding.

That’s a nice design especially for raising pups.
Very healthful video thanks for taking the time to make dis video

Pride of the Southland Kennels no issues. Just use bedding in winter or prop the lid partially open in summer.

Thank you
I literally just watched a diy video for a whelping box where the lady used a cardboard box with skewer sticks for the railings.
@American Sentinel K9, LLC what bedding would you recommend in the winter between straw and wood shavings?
Either is fine as long as you replace it should it get wet or before it gets old.
Now that's a well planned and thought out whelping setup. Awesome!
I love what you doing homie keep it up !!!
Someday, I'd love to get a few of these made somehow :)
I made my own. You can do it.
@@APBT-Bandog I'm no good at building things :( Been there, done that, can *never* get anything right with it.
That’s a nice kennel

amazing job !
Awesome pens.
Plans for this build would be great to have. I need to build one, or something similar.
What type of wire is this surrounding the cage? It appears stronger and heavier than what I can find
6 gauge welded wire. Check your local co-op.
Does it matter for work purposes/is it common for a bandog to lose an upper canine tooth? As the bite power actually comes from the back of the jaw?
How high up is your puppy board?
What is your feed and water trough made out of?
Very nice set up u know what ur doing...
How do you keep it clean, must smell pretty bad...
Lol. You wash it.
@@APBT-Bandog Does it not soak through the wood or just leak and collect at the bottom?
Bro you are on your A game very professional and organized.
What’s the flooring and where do you buy the flooring?
Awesome stuff
How much does it cost to build?
Nice set up do you use a heat lamp in the winter
No.

Do you build these your self
yes
Your Kennel is so well maintained.
What is the height of the fencing you used?
If you get the horse panels, they are 6' tall. If you get cattle panels, they are 5' tall. 6' is obviously better. I have some of each.
What a whelping kneel
Whelping is the birthing process. A whelping kennel and whelping box is a kennel and box designed for birthing.
Isnt the mesh floor bad for there feet
Just asking no hate idk
Not if you get the "flattened" type expand metal.
Finally I found n seen some one like me do things 👍 right
Great Setup, Do you have the dimensions or plans for this kennel
I would love the plans for your kennels. Can you send a link or post them please.
Dimentions: 5x12 or 8x22, your choice. 6’ tall, sitting 3 ft off ground. Whelping box 3x4 and the height of your dog.
I need this set up mannnnnn
How much dose one of these pin cost? I you were to make a new one?
I don't sell them. I make them as we need them...for us. The information is provided for you to copy.
That is the same mistake many make when they have dog house for there dogs in the winter and summer better learn what he just showed you.
man i love that set up! would you be willing to share a build plan for your whelping kennel?
I didn't have "plans." I just visioned what I wanted and made it.
@@APBT-Bandog well its a very well thought out kennel thats for sure!
Is that 3/4" flattened expand metal
yes
Are bandog mastiffs?

Do you actually birth your pups in this or do you move your newborn pups to this once they are born?
What state are you in sir?
This is how imma build my pens
Nice job
