Nature boy was it ever reveal who the leader of cpo is bc doffy manipulate them, lucci lead some, gurenica lead some and cpo shouod have a top leader so who is its leader .
Just want to say it's a good thing for a story to have a stable formula. Whats impressive about One Piece is that Oda not only created it's own unique formula for the story but the also knows when to break it. Thats not in disagreement with anything you said I just wanted to point that out.
Theres already a couple videos on this by Morj that I think were masterful so I'm curious what else you've got to add here. Could there possibly be MORE reasons to love Marineford?
I finally managed to get to this. I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier. Marineford is an absolutely incredible piece of work, and you're points are all great. I think another thing, that you couldn't really focus on in this video due to the focus on the arc itself rather than the characters, was the masterful use of the dynamics at play between characters, both Luffy toward others and others toward themselves. By the time we got to the Marineford War itself, Luffy had some sort of relationship with everyone that came to Marineford with him, as well as Aokiji, Kizaru, Garp, and practically every Warlord of the Sea. The only major characters that Luffy didn't know were Doflamingo, Akainu and Sengoku on the opposing side, the latter two representing the merciless justice of the Marines, and Doflamingo just being an absolute delightful mystery. But on his own side, Luffy knew nobody besides Ace himself in the ENTIRE WHITEBEARD PIRATES, meaning that the primary force fighting the Marines were completely blank slates other than the relationship they needed to have to each other through Ace. This made the interactions everyone else had with the Whitebeard Pirates, treating them like legitimate legends of their time, feel real, and further established how far Luffy was from the world at large despite how close he was to so many major parts of the world. It also made the scene where Luffy uses Conqueror's Haki infinitely better because Boa Hancock was literally the only person on that entire island who knew that Luffy had that in him, and it completely changed the pace of the War, making him a primary target for the Marines and a primary objective of protection for the Whitebeard Pirates, which only happened because of Luffy's unnatural charisma and relationship with Ace getting them to like him to begin with. The way Oda handled the effects of the war was really good, too. War is not a contained field, like many people treat it, when major figures are involved. Everything matters, even things that are not directly relevant. This was not a duel between a rookie and a Warlord on their home turf, this was an event where eight Warlords showed up on both side and were nowhere near the most notable figures on either side. This was not a nation-changing event like the overthrowing of Enel, or a worrying, novel incident like the declaration of war at the soon-destroyed Enies Lobby. This was an event that made people believe that working was pointless because the sheer existence of this event seemed to threaten them physically from across the globe. Whitebeard was the fictional equivalent of a man ready to die who had his finger on a nuclear button, as far as the public was concerned. And this was true to an extent; we see in the arc that and old man on a distant island could feel the earthquakes coming off of Marineford, and later, Blackbeard had the entire Sabaody Archipelago on alert because he was starting to rampage within minutes of getting the Gura Gura no Mi.. | Many fans complain that the Marines didn't have to bring all of the Warlords and Admirals together, but just look at the War itself; nobody in their right mind expected a Supernova who had just been saved from an Admiral by a Warlord to break into Impel Down, start the only mass breakout in history, show up with the entire breakout cast including two Warlords and a Revolutionary, make favor with the entire Whitebeard Pirates and at least one of the Warlords ON THEIR SIDE, use Conqueror's Haki on the 100,000 strong army at random, get past the Hero of the Marines with one punch, then save Ace WHO IS STANDING NEXT TO THE FLEET ADMIRAL using a random ass wax key, then escape from the pursuit of Three Admirals because another Supernova showed up randomly and a second Emperor, who had just stopped a THIRD EMPEROR quarter way across the globe from interfering in the War, came to stop the War and save a random Marine from being killed by his own side's Admiral. In the meantime, the Warlord who had captured Ace to begin with went to Impel Down after hypnotizing some of the Marines who control the Gates of Justice, got every major Level 6 prisoner he could find and put them on his crew so he could come back to Marineford, kill the World's Strongest Man and, most importantly of all, EAT HIS DEVIL FRUIT ON TOP OF HIS OWN, something the Gorosei didn't even have a comprehension of. I think we have been so used to Blackbeard, and are so separated from that initial event, we don't understand this. Blackbeard eating the Gura Gura no Mi was essentially the Hiroshima & Nagasaki incident of the War. Nobody alive seemed to have an angle by which they could understand what had just happened except for maybe Marco and the Blackbeard Pirates themselves. It was the most unexpected event in a series of unexpected events throughout the War, with so many other things that could have happened on a moment's notice if people had made different decisions, such as the Revolutionary Army or Big Mom Pirates, possibly the most neutral of the major players. The army at Marineford wasn't necessary to deal with the Whitebeard Pirates, it was necessary to deal with a situation like Kaido pulling up with Shanks on his tail while half of Impel Down falls out of the sky. To end on that note, if we look at the powerscaling broadly, the way Oda handled the old men's legendary strength was absolutely wonderful. Whitebeard, Garp, Sengoku and even Rayleigh on Sabaody are all narrative weapons that Oda used to establish how strong Roger (the Pirate King, i.e. Luffy's main goal) was without having to be explicit about it, and thus how far everyone else (especially Luffy) was from that gold standard. It gives weight and validity to Luffy nearly giving up on his journey. Also, the circumstances of the War, forcing both sides to hold back, keeps us even to this day, over a decade later, wondering what the Admirals and Whitebeard would have looked like if they didn't have to worry about destroying the island they were fighting on. This was a wonderful watch. I'm sorry for the long comment but I felt like I needed to contribute something more than usual for being this late lol
I appreciate the comment big time that was actually a good read. I'm glad you watched it and enjoyed it, Marineford had so much going on in terms of characters,, themes, story, etc.. that you can talk about it for days and days. Everytime I read/watch it I see a new perspective on something that I never saw before. It's easily the biggest arc/moment or whatever in all of the series to analyze and it's extremely fun to do so. Thanks for the detailed comment, I read it all and funny enough some of what you talked about toward the end strongly ties into my next video topic. Keep an eye out for it, if all goes well it should be up in a few hours.
Another great video from my boy. Marineford is such a phenomenal arc, and in my opinion the best. You know how much a preach about the admirals, and this arc is the reason. Showing off the absolute power of the marines stopping the rescue off Ace, and having the pirates on the run, only to be saved by the main man Shanks. Before this arc the marines were kinda not that frightening as an antagonists to Luffy (besides bustercall), but after seeing Akainu killing Ace, Whitebeard, and almost Jinbe and luffy the marines became a real threat that should be taken seriously going forward.
OH MY GOD YOU'RE READING BERSERK TOO??? ONE PIECE AND BERSERK ARE BOTH LEGENDARYYY they're both INCREDIBLE. but could NOT be more different, but i love that contrast because for me personally, it really represents the duality within myself to gravitate towards both the jolly-- incredibly fun, lighthearded things in life, AND the incredibly heavy, dark, dense and powerfully rich aspects of storytelling
Your'e the only person who has shown interest in it so I put in the back for now. egg head is so freaking good. It's probs the equivalent to sabaody; sabaody built up to marine ford. i think egg head will build up for elbaf and the final war arc.

And also the weird trick how Blackbeard lets him disappear was pretty nice. Also the appearance of Shanks was cool. But the way Ace died was very annoying to me. It was just so random and unneccessary. He already has been saved, then he just casually dies.
I think that moment with Ace is deeper than that. It was definitely stupid decision on Ace's part but it resembles Ace perfectly. Im working on making a Ace Marineford analysis soon that will dive really deep into why he made that decision
@@natureboyOPYeah, you also got it across well in the video. I don't even know why I didn't like it. I watched it 5 to 10 years ago. I like the idea of important characters just dying casually. Or unimportant charactres dying epicly. It just felt cheap somehow. Maybe I just didn't like how it was adapted in the anime.
Its hard to say which is better, the anime really did well with the big moments but the manga handled the smaller details better, I think they're both worth experiencing eventually. The post war arc is amazing too so enjoy
@@natureboyOP i have only read the manga , i had mixed opinions on the arc itself , some thing kinda put me down a little like whitebeard getting stabbed by one of his own although in context it seems like a great moment because it was akainu who created the confusion i think he was a good antagonist , mr. 3 appearing convinietly at the execution platform this is the only one i need a desperate answer , crocodile saved luffy and jimbei from akainu and ace getting easily provoked its more of a character flaw i understand that but kinda wastes whitebeard sacrifice , thank you for replying i think if i give more thought on it , i would like it more , its more of a personal issue that it didnt have a big battle which can be a good thing since its formula breaking and i still could feel the hype behind it , i personally expected a lot of good fights
Seriously its like a rite of passage to make a “Marineford” video. And i dont mean it in a cliche way, i love seeing these perspectives. My favorite arc is Skypea or Thriller Bark, but i am well aware i am the minority in that. Marineford is amazing. I just hope the final arc is essentially Marineford x2 but also the whole crew is here too
@@myboiKid i fucking love Gecko Moriah. He’s ugly, annoying and screechy, but he is a great parallel for Luffy at the time. I also think TB has peak comedy
it is fitting tho that his whole childhood he went around asking people what they thought of roger (his birth father) and fighting them when they inevitably badmouthed him, and then he died in the same way, fighting someone for badmouthing whitebeard (his adoptive father). He was never able to shake that bad habit...
