I don’t find any problems with WG to be honest, yes there are some problems with the game itself and its mechanics but you need to give them time to fix it. I’m not saying one is better than the other, but personally I like WoT more than WT. It just fits my play style. No matter what happens it’s my favorite game and I will continue to play it. Maybe war thunder suits you more, and feel free to play it but there’s no need to slander WoT and promote War thunder, both are great games and playing either one isn’t wrong.
They’ve had eight years since I started playing to fix some of the problems the majority of the community complain about, yet somehow they never do. Sometimes they even create random irritations, the commander system being a prime example. For example I pick an American commander, why is the first tank that shows up in the assignment queue a German or mercenary tank? Why are the tanks mixed up in some random hodgepodge of nations instead of grouped together by same nation? It’s asinine, and that’s just one thing.
Interesting commentary, and you certainly raise some good questions. I've always views WoT as an arcadey game with a nod to realism, even in the WWII mode. Even RNG was a quick'n'dirty way to model the uncertainty of real-world application. I always thought of Warthunder's mechanic of shells always going exactly where you aim less than realistic.
I started playing WOT console on the beta when you needed a disc. I have to say that recently Cold War has completely revitalised my interest in this game. Got to love firing missiles across the map!
Great questions for both parties. I believe you have valid points and they should be answered via action in game and developers feedback! 👏🏻 I would like to see wargaming develop a realistic mode that is available in game alongside the option to play arcade mode.
How about a simple game mode called hardcore where you dont have to deal with their BS RNG and when you hit an unsuspecting tank they are taken out with one shot.

For me I also feel like the main reason wot console in general is not where it used to be is that it’s atmosphere isn’t the same as before 6.0 which I didn’t understand until I played pc. The game just doesn’t seem to have a ‘soul’ like it used to. Looking back at videos of pre 6.0 the breadth of content and map atmosphere really made it feel alive. Every map feels synthetic and the tanks don’t really have the same feeling. Console is in the awkward place where it’s between being wot pc for console and it’s own thing, overshadowed by both wot pc and WT. For me it needs to get back it’s wide range of different content such as the return of war stories, additions like LTM’s (the last waffentrager, Mirny 13) to really see the game come alive. Until that point I’m not sure we will see much growth.
I completely agree with you, 6.0/Moder Armor was a stupid idea of an arrogant and bad management (always remember WoT is not from WGCB, they only manage on console a game created and thought by others) that did not know its own game. Those in charge now are in a difficult situation; they can't seem to turn back because too much time and money has been burned, but they also don't know how to carry forward an idea that is fundamentally “alien” in World of Tanks, as Riki rightly says (note: on PC WG made sure to stay very far away from TV, missiles, machine guns and so on, at the moment); to be more clear, just two little examples: is it normal that there are the same tanks (you don't just add/remove a letter to the name to make them different) in two separate part of the same game, WWII and Moder Armour, with very different features and game mechanics?; why in MA, with True Vision, is there still auto-AIM exactly with WWII mechanics? 🤔

I think Cold War was designed to stop existing WG customers jumping ship to warthunder. They needed to expand the game, or make MM changes like +/-1MM. They chose expansion to try to broaden the appeal and the player base to those disillusioned with WW2 MM. Well, what makes me to uninstall the game few months ago was the fact that game was stupidly unblanced. It's not fun neither to play with unblanced tanks, nor play against them. Also the commandar skills is too poor. They have to return the old commandar slots.
Ever played the game PANZER ELITE , the first version? The developers really had tank game mechanics figured out. One started out with fully trained crews. If one lost a crewman to a injury or death you picked another crewmember from the motor pool and maybe a tank. One operated a squadron of tank bots that you gave instructions to. If your tank got hit or disabled you personally took over another of your squad tank like real life commanders often did. As you got more experienced you could get better tanks if you survived. Same as real life. You had the options to pick the best crewmen from the pool. Eventually you had to pick what was left with less skills. The maps were large and not corridor maps and one had to complete actual realistic missions to move up in rank and better tanks unlike WT or WOTs. One had a actual interior in ones tank and could choose what position to crew. They even had primitive enemy soldiers. Much more fun and realistic. The graphics were bad though. The missions were based on Small scale historical battles with historical objectives. Not the bs objectives WoT and WT have at all. WOT Normandy campaign was a nice start. Now it's gone. Replaced with silly nonsense. If you possibly can get a hold of this first version. I can't explain it all. Thanks pal. Your doing a nice service for the tank gaming community.
Cool - I just redownloaded the game after effectively a couple years away playing Tarkov and some RPGs. Not played yet but think it's gonna be handy to get your perspective now that you've been outside the bubble. Edit: BSG often struggled with being consistent in their arguments in the past, twisting and writhing to excuse/justify mechanics. They made one point for one thing and then ignored it when introducing the next thing, it was unnecessarily frustrating, imo.
It’s getting a little better after introducing min distance for ATGM , but the Fxxing Wisael is still there, the ridiculous invisibility should be fixed now!
Interesting discussion piece. I've played both but for me it's apples to oranges. WOT is fast, abstract, arcadey, unrealistic. WT is slower paced, less abstract, more "realistic" and more sim-like. I play WOT simply because I don't have the time to get to grips with WTs more extensive controls and game mechanics, especially on console. CW mode in WOT was just a reason to give players something different; I prefer it because of true vision and no arty for a few reasons, plus tanks I like that I grew up reading about. WOT CW is never going to, or was meant to be, a challenge to WT; the game engine is all wrong, you would have to change/add just too much to even get close, and I don't see that as being WeeGee's focus. The games co-exist because what they offer is so different. If you want more realism, and more mechanics to master, play WT. If you want a fun faster arcade experience, play WOT MA. Neither game is completely realistic, WOT being far more less so, therefore I think the use of the word "realism" in respect to either should be taken as "realism in as far as the game experience defines". Great editorial though, thought provoking, thanks for your input.
If Wargaming added something like the Battle hits mod that they have on PC!? Then want to know why a shot bounced? + Battle hits = problem solved....so we can actually see for ourselves easily 👍
Realism? A HEP round hitting hull or turret will take out the crew. APFSDS? Same result. HEAT? Yup. Old school M60 Cavalry here. The new stuff seems even more deadly.
Dude you're way overthinking this. Like every game out on the market, there are differences between games and you look for those differences to suit your needs. War gaming is doing just fine. You don't need to create clickbait controversy, and if you don't like war gaming, that leave it.

Riki is spot on with his analysis. And if he was talking about owing a kitchen appliance then your answer of “ just leave it” is correct. I don’t like the toaster I bought, I’ll return it and spend my money elsewhere. The cost of the toaster is all I have invested. But he’s talking about a SERVICE that we pay for and have invested hundreds of hours and perhaps hundreds dollars into. So like any other consumer service relationship, the customer has a responsibility to criticize the service provider when the service provider is 1) not holding up their end of the deal, and/or 2) changing the terms of the deal without disclosing that change. A huge part of the problem Riki is the culture at WG. Remember, it’s not USA based. It’s eastern bloc based. That cultures answer to any customer criticism is to gaslight you or tell you to F off. They literally can’t fathom giving the customers what the customers want, WG will give you what WG wants.
The only thing I can say about war thunder is that I find it an awful grind fest that is much worse than the grind in WOT also I prefer the way the game works ie when I am dead that's it back to the garage I go where as war thunder gives you a respawn in another tank which has to also be ground out As a occasional player I find it to much as you said in your video .
True Vision in WW2 would completely kill the game as we know it. There is a reason the community rejected it when it was first tested in 2020. And yet the Devs still forced it on the community when Cold War was added.
There is a significant number of cold war players that would happily play a true vision version of WW2. FYI Not everybody hated true vision when it was tested
Veiled complaint about True Vision is all this is. It’s not that hard. People don’t like disappearing tanks. Hence True Vision. You are just trying to conflate issues here. Just stick to WW2-same game there. People do complain for realism all the time btw. Hmmm…let’s see complaints about arming distance.
WW2 .. INVISIBLE TANKS ARE ANNOYING VISIBLE AT 650 M INVISIBLE AT 655 M 🤯🤯🤯 NO THANK YOU CW .. IMPOSSIBLE TO HIT LONG RANGE MOVING TARGETS BECAUSE RANDOMISED AIMING 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
People don't like disappearing tanks? Look at the queue numbers at both modes, ww2 is far more popular, pc doesn't have true vision and is still a popular game.
Wargaming should divide the game in 2 modes. A true vision mode with the cold war mechanics and the old mode we know from WWII. Both modes should start with WWII tanks and end with CW tanks. But this time no mixing up of WWII tanks and CW tanks. Just divide it in Era's like in the CW mode. To me the era system makes more sense than the tier system. No WWII T-34 tanks which have to fight against cold war T-54 tanks and bullshit like that as we know from the actual "WWII" mode which isn't really WWII, even the name of this mode is just wrong, because there are cold war tanks too, and they not even have a Panther with the right canon, just a fantasy canon in this so called WWII mode. 😂
The game is better when the spirit of realism is maintained with consistent game mechanics. The armor and spaced armor game mechanics are inconsistent or out of balance. The Weasel and FV 101/7 are great examples of thin spaced armor in the form of a toolbox stopping main gun rounds.
War Thunder isn't my cup of tea. Too much going on, getting 1 shot by everything is not pleasant. It feels like when wot was in it's early stage of folks quitting before they even started. JS.
If Wargaming want to stick with the "realistic" concept and not arcade.... then are they claiming WoT is a combat simulator?? Because it is not. What is life expectancy of a tanker in real combat? Less than 3 minutes.
It wierd I was thinking about how easily wot could go the way of war thunder just the other day. A no spot true vision mode where you have to actually use your eyes to find the enemy. Then you bring in drones and IR scopes. Maybe a separate game mode. Rather than changing the whole game. I played war thunder before I ever did wot. I don't think I can go back now. Too much going on. Painful grinding. Wot appeals to the more casual gamer.
IMO WOTs was forced into non realism because they could never figure their own game out without resorting to totally unrealistic solutions. They resort to more and more patches on a broken leaky game. It doesn't have to be this way either. There are some old games that now take a old computer to play actually figured this all out.
Dude its a dying game - they are just focusing on their newest IP We will be hearing about it soon I'm sure At this point we are just a sandbox for development
Cold war in my opinion is more like a fantasy game it requires no skill there is very little realism in that mold and it takes away from world war II because it requires no skill and have no learning curve in this game play it's a nice option to earn silver

It’s getting a little better after introducing min distance for ATGM , but the Fxxing Wisael is still there, the ridiculous invisibility should be fixed now!
wiesel isn’t op anymore camo is about all it has
Interesting discussion piece.
Jo u playing with xbox yea?
Do u have T1 or T2 tanks? In world of tanks ^^
Good reflection on the game Riki, lets hope WG is doing something. Maybe WG has a ticket for it. Or not.
Realism? A HEP round hitting hull or turret will take out the crew. APFSDS? Same result. HEAT? Yup. Old school M60 Cavalry here. The new stuff seems even more deadly.
The RNG has been such a joke the last couple weeks that none of my friends or myself have been playing WOT.
WoT has been confused about itself, since I started playing....
Dude you're way overthinking this. Like every game out on the market, there are differences between games and you look for those differences to suit your needs. War gaming is doing just fine. You don't need to create clickbait controversy, and if you don't like war gaming, that leave it.
I think Ricki raises beautiful points, he's asking questions that all players should be. He's doing more by using his channel to create a platform where he can address WG openly and he's starting a conversation that players and WG need to be talking about... ie what is this games future? and what is its direction? To my perspective Soo far WG's game development plan is Drip feed more premiums and milk the players for every dollar!
No he is not, to many people have spent to much money on this game for the developers to just spit on the customers.
I'm sure war gaming is focused on Project CW instead.
I play both. I dont care, I love tanks.
simply put dont display penetration value if it has no effect hence RNG
get rid of bots too before that becomes the biggest player base AI doesn't buy premium tanks
Oi oi, now you're playing the fv4005 to take the piss mate😂
Great video.... well thought out❤
The only thing I can say about war thunder is that I find it an awful grind fest that is much worse than the grind in WOT also I prefer the way the game works ie when I am dead that's it back to the garage I go where as war thunder gives you a respawn in another tank which has to also be ground out
As a occasional player I find it to much as you said in your video .
I think they need true vision in WW2 as an alternative version. That may make a difference because warthunder is WW2
Isn't
That’s why I can’t play ww2. The Only problem would be with artillery
@jacobsekela8691 nobody forces you to play cold war. It's a choice
WW2 .. INVISIBLE TANKS ARE ANNOYING
VISIBLE AT 650 M
INVISIBLE AT 655 M
🤯🤯🤯
NO THANK YOU
CW .. IMPOSSIBLE TO HIT LONG RANGE MOVING TARGETS BECAUSE RANDOMISED AIMING
🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
People don't like disappearing tanks? Look at the queue numbers at both modes, ww2 is far more popular, pc doesn't have true vision and is still a popular game.
@@nonamephil9877 NO IT MASHES MY SWEET POTATOES
@@nonamephil9877 If you look at the reviews on the consoles themselves, that was the biggest complaint left.
Warthunder sucks big time , sorry
It wierd I was thinking about how easily wot could go the way of war thunder just the other day. A no spot true vision mode where you have to actually use your eyes to find the enemy. Then you bring in drones and IR scopes. Maybe a separate game mode. Rather than changing the whole game. I played war thunder before I ever did wot. I don't think I can go back now. Too much going on. Painful grinding. Wot appeals to the more casual gamer.
He should be CEO of War Gaming
IMO WOTs was forced into non realism because they could never figure their own game out without resorting to totally unrealistic solutions. They resort to more and more patches on a broken leaky game. It doesn't have to be this way either. There are some old games that now take a old computer to play actually figured this all out.
Dude its a dying game - they are just focusing on their newest IP
We will be hearing about it soon I'm sure
At this point we are just a sandbox for development
Cold war in my opinion is more like a fantasy game it requires no skill there is very little realism in that mold and it takes away from world war II because it requires no skill and have no learning curve in this game play it's a nice option to earn silver
