Hi, I understand where you coming from. But the whole intent of this video is to test the reel at it's maximum capacity when it is being abused. In this case, We load higher poundage line to the reel with the reel drag max out. To be honest, we are there to wreck the tackle.
@@KRAKENGEARTV What? the whole point of having drag is to stop the line breaking from too much strain, all you've done is make sure the line breaks. If you want to test the reel to full capacity then put some braid on the reel and tie the other end something solid. Poor fish is going to have its mouth ripped apart and is left with hooks and line in its mouth.

I noticed that you were using a 60 lb leader on a 30 lb main line. Is that done for a special purpose? What I read on internet is the opposite: use a stronger main line relative to the leader. I am confused. Sorry, I am a new hand. Thank you.
They did it probably because they looked like they were running braid, which does not stretch so the heavy leader relative to mainline is needed to take the stretch from fighting the fish Also using heavier leaders compared to mainline should be standard imo but is especially important when surfcasting/going for big fish because there the heavy leader will absorb shock much easier
This is a pretty silly way to test a rod...sure it can handle a heavy fish at a pond but what about long runs in the sea? Sustained pressure is what is required to test a rod...not offer a baitfish and then a fight that lasts less than a minute

Not bad for a starter rod. But the guide tend to rust fast compare to other rod i used.

Hi, not suitable to surfcast as this rod is too short. You need rod at least 10ft and above to surfcast.
