Indiana State Trooper Stops Tim the Trucker
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 сер 2024
- On June 19, 2015, Master Trooper Glen Fifield with the Indiana State Police stopped Tim the Trucker on I-65 in Indiana. This video is a recording of that encounter.
------------------------------
Issue: Several states, including Indiana, create laws that discriminate against truckers - Laws that disparately treat truckers as a separate and unequal class of citizen to amateur motorists. The police then under-scrutinize the privileged class and over-scrutinize the oppressed class.
Traffic citations are used as a "taxation without representation." The police issue citations as a source of revenue; and courts show preference towards police testimony because every judge knows his budget is reliant on the fines that he imposes. Traffic court, therefore, is not justice; traffic court is a rigged system intended specifically to extract revenue.
Trucker exploitation represents "easy money." Out-of-state truckers usually cannot appear at the court hearing to challenge their citations. So, many police officers ignore blatant traffic violations of amateur motorists and focus exclusively on overly scrutinizing truckers.

I never leave my passenger door unlocked so they just can't open it
Btw, due to recent US Supreme Court rulings, it may not be a 4th amendment violation here for the officer to open the side door as the driver cannot, but entering the vehicle without consent might constitute an unlawful search.

This video brought back a fond memory. We were living in S. Diego at the time and drove up to L.A. to visit my grandmother. My wife was expecting at the time. On the way home, the engine in our car blew up. A state trooper came rushing to our aid. He took us to his home where his wife put my wife to bed and comforted her. A couple of hours later, my brother came from S. Diego to pick us up. I couldn't believe that a state trooper took us right into his home!
there isnt in fond memorys of a trooper pulling anyone over

pretty obvious you were speeding by the fact you were overtaking vehicles through most of the construction zone, but there was no waving trooper in that zone.
Well, that was never in question. In fact, he didn't say a thing about the fact that he was speeding. Just why he was pulled over, what the cop said, and what the video shows.
@redemptioner1 overtaking doesnt mean speeding. You assume those cars were at the speed limit. Cops are allowed to lie so there might be a credibility issue there. Especially when the officer claims to have flagged him down and the video showed other wise. I am leaning towards the trucker being right in this instance. And i dont care how old your comment is
What I saw is you driving the left lane passing other traffic in the construction zone. No indication of the exact speed, but the trooper probably didn't exagerate you doing 68 in a 55 zone.
Bingo!
The constant harassment by dot pos got my ass out of this profession after 15 years. 70's and 80's were great for trucking. It's an over regulated dumpster fire nowadays.

The time between the mile markers at 6:44 and 7:37 is about 53 seconds which calculates to about 68 mph. About 10 seconds later the second mile marker, we see the cop in the median who ironically states the truck was going... 68 mph. I couldn’t spot a third mile marker for a speed after going past the cop that should have been somewhere around the 8:20 mark, but all evidence seems to point to a consistent speed of 68 for over a mile before getting zapped by the cop. Hopefully he at least had a heart.

You are so right, the highways in Indiana are atrocious, BUT they’re trying to fix it at least because no matter what direction you go in that state, there are highway construction zones everywhere.
Just can't let a man make an honest living.
Yes you can. You do it by following the laws and posted limits. It's simple as that.
Please, I've been pulled over more times doing the limit or less and given a citation than I have for actual speeding. Troopers are generally the worst and will lie through their teeth. County and city cops are generally pretty cool unless you're running through a speed trap kind of town. jack hammer how though
Collin Heyde they ask then they ask to see your logbook to see if you have any inconsistencies but since he has a electronic logbook it’s a little more difficult because he can’t take it to his car and go back more then eight days and study it. So now he has to look at his electronic logbook to make sure he took his break today and if he didn’t it is a ticket . If he is over hours it is a ticket . So now that he didn’t see any inconsistencies in his logbook now he will do a level III inspection . So he will check the distance of the brake shoe from the drum. Slack adjuster. The cop is fishing for tickets. Remember it was only for speeding ...
Level 3 inspection is a paperwork check. Level 2 is a walk around. Not going under the truck and a level 1 is a full blown inspection. Get it right rookie.
You're a narrow-minded moron. Me? I'm a 20-year+ driver with a CDL. They're protecting our highways from motorists who ignore the law and trying to see that drivers drive safely. Good thing you were using a camera to catch this guy lying. 👍
He was on the other side of the concrete divider (on the northbound side) beside a red truck parked in the work area. He was in that location to run laser in both directions while also able to turn around on southbound vehicles. The divider ends/begins, depending on your direction of travel, about 25-50 feet in front of his vehicle. Pro Tip: Laser can only be run from a stationary position. Subpoena the GPS data for his vehicle for that timeline. Your dash video is also good evidence of actual speed. All you need is a stopwatch and a known distance between two points. Speed equals distance divided by time.
I got pulled over with my own personal old Uhaul moving truck filled with arcade games. They claimed they thought I was hauling meat illegally (without cooling it?!?) ... I laughed at them and they wasted my time and I was free to go. I found out later if I was moving those games as a business they would have screwed me and that's probably what they were looking for. This was not a business, just my own personal collection.
You are passing other cars through the construction zone. Slow down if you want to avoid the police, simple.
I'm regrettably with this....in construction zones the speeds are posted. If indeed you were going 68 in a posted 55, it doesn't matter if he's lying. You can only dispute your speeding in court and how he attained that. What's interesting is that cops have such big egos and often such low intelligence, that they get caught lying all the time on civilian videos. But they still have the courts on their side....so proving they're lying usually nets you zero.
Really? Construction zone starts at 6:40 ish and white car in front flies in front down the highway. There are no exits, that car never gets pulled over. He passes a few cars at 8:26 the White SUV that flew in front of him at 6:49 and a green SUV... The green SUV passes him and then he pulls over...... SO why didnt the WHite or Green SUV's get pulled over? WHite clearly was speeding from beginning of construction zone till the time the trucker gets pulled over.
St Kittz those vehicles did not get pulled over because they were not speeding when they passed the trooper.
holy crap that trooper is all over you why the heck does he need to see your last stop and all that
They want all the info they can get their hands on to look for other tickets to write
Because when they look at your logs, they will do a time vs distance calculation. Same reason for fuel receipts, helps to detect paper-log "Errors" or history of speeding.
Since Tim was advancing on other vehicles, he was not going with the flow, but I did not see the trooper standing anywhere in the 'zone'.
troopers can do what they want to trucks, it is covered by regulations, not by laws so it leaves what they do pretty much open, and they do it in the name of safety so the general public think it's good.. Keeping the scary trucks in check gives a warm fuzzy feeling to people that are scared of them on the road.
You can't expect your going to see and identify a cop alongside the road with a cheap consumer grade camera from the sleeper, but you can expect a driver to not be daydreaming and to see hazards.
KAT something You are blind. It has nothing to do with safety and everything to do with revenue. Being that most truckers are from out of state and can’t come to court to fight their case, this is easy revenue for the local government. This has nothing to do with warm fuzzy feelings as you stated.
KAT something
U are a idiot if you believe that!
55 is 55 in a construction zone one should not expect any breaks at all. It is very dangerous to speed in construction zones. Just because you did not see the Trooper does not mean he wasn't there. The reason for the stop has no bearing due to you being in a Commercial Vehicle.
I hadn't read all comments, it may've been stated already.
The difference between Radar & Laser, is that. With Radar you'll be close enough to see the officer shooting it. Whereas the Laser can spot you miles away from them, it reads the distance in a straight line. They may have someone hiding in the trees and other cars, just writing tickets a mile away.
It's illeagle
Passing traffic in a construction zone. That should've been an indicator that maybe you're going too fast...
Trucks are supposed to use the left lane in construction zones. It's called road safety because it's safer for everyone on the road. Right when the jersey walls start he changes to the left lane. This is not to pass people and that he happened to pass people in the right lane isn't a good indicator of how fast the truck driver was going.

Normally i would not side with the road pirates in uniform but ,not only was this trucker going too fast in a construction zone ,he was also in the left hammer lane while going thru that construction zone. Work zone begins at 6:30ish and he "blew past" a total of 2 cars where one of them re-passed him and he moved over at that point but uncertain if out of the construction zone. And, he "blew past" at about a walking pace so if he's being pulled over for 68 in a 55 then they were going 65 in a 55. Something's not adding up here.
Question is, "were you speeding through zone". You passed vehicles.....If you weren't then ok.....if you were take the ticket.
I drive a concrete truck. I had cars in front of me and cars behind me all going the same speed. (35 mph)The (25mph ) construction sign was illegally leaning over and was blocked by the regular speed limit sign. I pulled over because the cop was on the side of the road and he was fishtailing coming onto the roadway speeding thru traffic . I pulled over to get out of his way. I thought he was going to a bank robbery by the way he was driving. You know concrete trucks can get away fast. He pulled in behind me. I went to court with pictures I took at night so the reflection off the regular speed sign was clearly blocking the reduce speed sign. Michigan law states that a sign that is not properly installed can not be used in a violation case. The judge said well the officer didn't show and she told me he could later enforce the ticket on me. I told her good idea if he didn't. She asked why. I said because it will waste my time, the courts time and he would lose like he did today. BTW, the judge said "OH another CDL case." I said pardon me? Anyway I didn't go to the pay line. Remember the sign placement law. These Barney Fifes need to be sent back to law school.

Master Trooper Liar was no where in the Construction Zone. The truck driver was being passed by regular motorists. The expensive Lawyer that the trucker would have had to hire and pay for out of his own pocket would have taken that Dasgcam tape, blown it all up, and proved that at ni time t=did the trucker ever hit 81 MPH and that other cars were going faster and not stopped. The Judge would have ordered a directed verdict of NOT GUILTY and not ordered the cop or the State to pay restitution for the illegal stop.

Truckers get scrutinized more for speeding in construction zones out of the fact that they have a far greater stopping distance than passenger vehicles do if there is suddenly a need to react to a hazard, equipment, or crews crossing the roadway, and there is a level of danger there if you need to make an unprepared stop suddenly for everyone involved. It's pretty plain and simple, although the trooper is a tough spot but most certainly not in the wrong about waving you down and where he was in the zone.
I'm No lawyer but I thought 68 in a 55mphzone and in a construction area was justified? Huh, Damn cops, picking on criminals. U should be ashamed!
Were you driving 68mph in a 55mph zone? If so, why all the drama about him stopping you, or you seeing him or not? You broke the law. And you were 'daydreaming' and driving 13mph above the speed limit.
Are u a dum dum? Watch the hole video
It is clearly marked "Construction and 55 MPH" and you were clearly speeding so what's the point?" Please slow you rig down, Thank You!
Yes, where is your proof he was speeding? Not cop in the construction site and he was not behind anyone the cars in front where going his speed too.
Damn, thats alot of crap in the window, here in norway THAT would have given me a ticket.
Well, I didn't see anything wrong with this stop. The trooper stated the reason for the stop. While in the construction zone the trucker was catching other cars that were going slower, so probably was speeding. Semi empty weighs 40,000 pounds and they don't stop on a dime. This is why they have CDL licenses. They have to be qualified to operate them. The trooper was doing his job just as the truck driver is. The semi was driving over the speed limit and the trooper was protecting the others on the roadway. Level 3 inspection on the truck was also done to ensure safety of others. If the troopers didn't do this, semi trucks would be on the roads with sub par vehicles in need of repairs and would be going 80 MPH and if fully loaded can weigh 80,000 pounds. They can easily take out several families. So the trucker was doing his job but was caught speeding by the trooper doing his job. By the way, I didn't see him flagging you down either, but he could have also issued ticket for obstruction of driver's view for having cup and other things attached to the windshield. Just saying. Could have been several tickets issued.
Looks like you missed him while driving in a construction zone.
68 in a 55 Construction zone? And your proving what?
That the officer did his job or that you didnt?
My thoughts exactly. I'm still trying to figure out what the point if this fuck'n video was. All this "let's rewind why the cop blah blah blah" bullshit made no sense whatsoever.
The cop was lying...are you blind? Did you see the cop anywhere near that construction zone?
@@jillmorrow7422 nope I didn't see the cop anywhere.
He did pass a cop around the 7:49 mark. Other side of the red pickup. The guy is actually outside of the car too
Please tell me what camera system you are using. It is REALLY good! Appears mounted in the sleeper?
The most important question... Were you doing 68mph in a 55mph zone ? If the answer is yes, then quit the whining and moaning about being oppressed. If you're not sure about your speed, then take a look at the cars you passed in the construction zone which then started to pass you again after the construction zone.
As a guy that used to set up and flag construction zones I feel no pity for people that speed thru them and get caught. There is a reason they say slow down and save a life to many idiots on the road with a entitlement mentality
I have a friend that was a flagger during the summer when he was in college. He was hit by a woman that was fixing her makeup, obviously not paying attention. He ended up with a skull fracture, broken pelvis, ribs and internal damage. He spent 5 months in the hospital and had to learn to walk again. I do not envy those guys. It is very dangerous work.
bill lambert you are right I have seen police cars speeding thru them to
@@johnvasquez6771 Iv'e never seen one speed threw a construction site when there was a traffic control there. If you ever see one again you definitely need to get it on video if you can and report it always. Here, most of the municipal and state traffic control people are wearing body cams. I pity the idiot that speeds through one. Automatic 36 month suspension of licence and thousands of $$$$ in fines.
Looks like a fishing expedition?
What's next; check him for hemorrhoids???
Looks like a lawsuit!
I didn't see him.
Was he in his vehicle when he caught up with you or was he running, walking?
Why don't you have the info readily available that the trooper's asking for in a dash clip?
While Stationed at McGuire AFB,NJ we were watching the local police pulling cars over all day right outside the gate. This was Wrights town ,NJ. I got off duty and proceeded to go home for evening and I had to go that way. Why would go speeding right after watching them pull car over. You guessed it I got pulled over , he told me I was speeding . I told him I had been watching him all day , so why would I speed ? He said I have you on my gun speeding .He said come with me and I'll show you the gun. he said I was doing 40 in a 30 mph zone. Sir , there's no way I was watching my speed because I'd been watching you. I got the ticket , They were pulling people over with out of state tags. I was in uniform so he knew where I was coming from or going. It happens all over the country. They wouldn't want to be treated that way .
One day they will be.
He was standing out behind his car and most likely waving you down. If you pause it by the red truck, next to concrete barrier in median, you will see his trooper car and him on opposite side of that red truck. Yes, kinda hidden from you coming down the road, but we all know, they DO patrol these construction sites... so slow down.
at the 750 mark but theres no way anyone can see him waving ...
1. You were speeding. notice how you were on the left lane passing those 3 vehicles that slowed down ( 8:28 ).
2. The cop was on the opposite side of the wall at 7:48. A white cruiser with what looks like an arm in the air. How did you not see that ( easy,...you werent paying attention )
3. Interesting how youre trying to make the police look bad but you did violate a traffic law.
Your own vid shows u speeding!
They are trained to be liars.
Robert Mccaffrey that is 100% inaccurate
So you say.
Collin Heyde no it's 100% accurate. That's why they hate people recording them.
trained by the military to lie and kill babies.
John M is correct. There are thousands of videos with the same content. People are always saying a "few bad apples." Bullshit, with the number of videos out there, it's the whole damn barrel. Video has just given us the evidence that most people knew all along. For decades and decades, this tyranny has been allowed to proliferate. Now that the public knows, what's gonna be done? Or we going to allow this entity to harass, intimidate, and terrorize our citizens? If Law Enforcement vanished overnight, we'd see very little change in Public Behavior. They don't prevent crime, they only report it. Isn't that the same as news reporters?
Okay truck driver now the question is how fast were you really going were you doing over the speed limit which is clearly marked 55 or were you going faster than 55 because you were passing up slower traffic. Don't get on the state trooper for lying when you were breaking the laws as well. Two wrongs don't make a right
William Omar exactly
You HAVE TO BE A PIG
@@packingten William Omar is not a pig. William Omar is a big stinking ugly truck driver.
What kind of setup do you have? Just starting a channel and want an option of that view
Speeding in a construction zone? You should have been jailed.
STFU PUSSY!!!!!
Why are you speeding in a construction 🚧 zone? You even passed a couple of cars.
You have a constitutional right to remain silent. Every conversation you have with the police is a interrogation looking for guilt. Don't speak to them, take your video evidence to court, and let them prove your guilt (that's the prosecutors burden). Be respectful, but firm and exercise your 4th and 5th Amendment rights. Uphold your constitutional rights and make them earn their money. It's your license and CMV at risk. Don't help them destroy your reputation.
Indiana don't play on speeding, especially construction zones. They even write for 5 over and following too closely.
Notice that the officer did not ask the driver to give him his driver's license. He only asked if he had one. To which the correct reply is, " I'm invoking my constitutional right to have an attorney present questioning my police."
You were in the fast lane in a truck & you were passing several cars of course you got pulled over lol
Several in this case means 2 on video and one of the two passes him back so it's really only one.
When in a construction zone, most of the time, truck are shifted to the LEFT lane.
2 lane highway trucks can get in the left lane
Left lane is for passing only.
Mil Sneler MANY. States require trucks and buses stay in the left lane going THROUGH construction zones
You did go through the Construction zone faster than the traffic flow, it was a righteous stop
Am I missing something here? How does an officer have the right to ask you where you delivered stuff in the truck and where your last stop was?
They can ask anything, you can choose to answer.
I was pulled over a few years ago, she was courtious, and respectful. She asked if I knew my speed, if I had a clean diving record. I was honest with her. I have a clean record, and I told her how fast I was going. She ran my plates, said she appreciated my honesty. Gave me a warning. I truly believe there are good police officers everywhere. There are a few bad officers that give the others a bad name. HOWEVER, I also believe if you treat with respect, you'll get respect in return. Don't forget, these people have a dangerous job. A job I surely wouldn't and couldn't do. Think before you act, take responsibility for your actions, and most of all treat people the way you'd like to be treated.
Speeding in a construction zone, in Indiana, seriously dude? That's just asking for a ticket. Doesn't matter how many times you rewind it, or what spin you put on it. Speeding, in a construction zone, in Indiana = ticket.
His dash cam proved the officer a liar... Try again.
He ran up on the 3 car pack still in construction zone. Dude deserved that ticket.
The question Still Remains was the truck driver doing over 55 clearly the officer was not in the video however two wrongs don't make a right the truck driver was passing up slower traffic which possibly means he was doing over 55
Frederick Kithcart the officer is in the video at 7:49 . Trucker was speeding, he said he was keeping with the flow of traffic !? There was no traffic..lol. Slow the frick down going thru active construction.. easy.!
@@Ramo718 According to the trucker's own camera timestamp and mile markers passed in the video, I was able to clock him going 69.23 miles an hour over a one mile distance. I hope he didn't try to use this video as evidence in court. It seems to bolster the cop's speed measurement as being fairly accurate.
This is what happens in rural area's! It's called "predacious policing"! After awhile, the people that live and travel through these area's, eventually move away or find different routes of travel. The result of this, is a reduction in the tax base and general commerce in the region!
