Hey Mr. Brown, I have a few questions in regards to your new bass choice. Does the T-bird you have neck dive a lot? Also, how do you set the pickup volumes? I always thought you had a wonderful meaty tone without the flaccid bottom end you’d get with a typical neck pickup live
@@Farewelltokingz no neck dive!! For pickups, I’m using EMG’s with an added trim pot, that’s on my Signatures, which boosts the pickups to unity gain & I’ve always favored the Neck pup over the bridge pup..

I'm surprised that Rex didn't go with a set of EMG active pickups in the Thunderbird pickup shape. The bass Channel did a good few videos on them if anyone wants to see what they have to offer!
In my humble opinion the Spector Thunderbird-inspired bass is the best bass he had his name on, closely followed by the Fernandes Telecaster bass. The tone did always come from the player though, and Rex always had thunder coming from his strings.
I agree with the Offset Spector but the regular Spectors and stingrays are also dope. The Actual thunderbird though it is a cool bass, he never once used a thunderbird with Pantera, he only used one with down and his other bands and I can guarantee he’s gonna use it on the coming tour

My first bass was a Korean, Kramer made Spector NS II. Wish I still had it (and I'm always looking to get it back). NOTHING growls like a Spector... Now I've tried T-Birds, and like Explorer style bodies, I just really have trouble getting comfortable playing them sitting down (it's that extended back/upper body wing). Now the extra 500 bucks is TOTALLY worth it just in the Hipshot hardware alone (I've fitted two of my basses with extender keys, and there will be more). As for the Pantera "Reunion?" I've heard Rex refer to it more as a Tribute Reunion then a strait up reunion tour... But Zakk was my first thought when I heard about this a few days ago... Along with Charlie from Anthrax on drums (Darrel and Vinnie where both HUGE Anthrax fans). Personally I'd like to see some guest spots on the tour too... Scot Ian, Ola England, Pepper Keenan, Chris Brodrick, dUg Pinnick and Ty Tabor. Could be VERY cool.
Those Korean NS2's are supposed to be amazing! I believe Flea had one early on. Good call! I really wish I could get my hands on a proper US Spector and see for my for self. I agree with you about the Pantera reunion, maybe if they called it a tribute it would "sound" better. And having different musicians would make it a bit more appeasing to the masses. I'd love to see Ola England! That would be brilliant.
