Beautiful thank you
Excellent painting and demonstration. I have painted with Golden Open and find them to be a nice compromise between oil and regular acrylics. They do try a lot slower than regular acrylics, which allows you to do softer transitions and edges. Great idea to use them to do studies of Old Master paintings done originally in oil!
Thank you so much! That was my impression as well - slower drying makes them resemble oils.
Thank you for this!
You're so welcome!
Very interesting. I loved it. Thank you so much. This gives me an idea of how to approach this style using acrylic. It appears to be much more time consuming with more steps than watercolor but the result was stunning. I did not see any drawing to begin,so I assume you built the painting by drawing with your brushes. I will need to add the paper palette to my acrylic order. Did you use a sponge under the paper palette? What colors did you add to the original Golden set? I caught Indian Yellow and Cobalt Blue.
Jack, it is true I didn't draw anything, that's why I started kind of gradually building the painting because I had to draw with the brush. But you can make changes along the way! Acrylics are so much more relaxing to paint with than watercolors, very little planning, no worries about paint drying or running away somewhere. I love watercolor, but it sure is a nerve wracking process! LOL!
I don't think you need a sponge under the palette. If you remember to close the lid tightly and maybe give them a little spritz of water before you close it (if you are using regular acrylics and not Golden Open), that should keep them moist long enough for you to finish.
Here are the colors I added to my initial set: Cobalt Blue, Indian Yellow Hue, Benzimidazolone Yellow Medium and Titanium White.
Good luck!
