Consider how many people haven't even done Riven's actual fight, despite it being considered much more fun than the cheese, and it's not terribly surprising that Bungie would nerf weapons that invalidate the entire encounter.
@@snowoffstream5823 Riven is one of the better examples, but in general the damage output guardians have available has helped invalidate most bosses. It's at the point where the most fun you can have with strikes is either handicapping yourself significantly, which players won't do Players will always veer towards the strongest strategy, even if it's not the most fun. If the fastest way to complete GoS was to have all six players stare at a wall for an hour, people would do just that. The goal of the developer is to make the most fun strategy also be the most viable, to keep things simple, and that's why the nerfs have been like they are in PvE. Are there other changes that are necessary? Of course there are! They haven't installed the Rasputin slides everywhere yet for example, which is a crime. But let's talk about what they have done rather than what they might. If players continue to have the extreme burst damage against single targets that they currently do, then boss design will have to be centred around that else it just won't matter (as can be seen with strike and raid bosses). As such I'd prefer lower boss DPS, since it would allow for more active encounters rather than purely puzzles or timegated ones (IE The Fanatic). For example the most fun strike boss I've fought in recent memory would be the Leviathan's breath version of Arms dealer. Those missiles made for a hectic experience reminiscent of classic arcade-style shooters, and I want to see more stuff like that. PS. Do note that mob and champion encounters are a different matter. Against mobs I personally enjoy fragile but strong enemies, so that you get the satisfaction of a sunshot chain reaction but still have to be careful. Champions meanwhile should be something which alters how you fight things, where you can either disable/life them until everything else is killed or take a risk and eliminate them quickly. That's just my 2 cents though.
@@123mickymouse123 Lots of good points, but your second is not fully valid. If they wanted to keep the fun strategies around, and make them even more viable, they wouldn't have removed the funs of Warlock and Titan skating. They were not something that nobody could learn. Anybody could pick up a sword as a Warlock, watch a video, and be skating. Yes, it allowed for some insane speedruns to be set, which I understand the frustration on that. Though, on the other hand, the people that used it to speedrun also do the strike normally, and enjoy the time spent doing it. It was merely a modicum of speeding up a grind, or setting a record that could be challenged by a player later. Also, Riven isn't really a good example. They didn't fix the ways players use to not do the encounter legit. All they did were fix the bugs that allowed players to do it solo. The 6 man cheeses still function. Riven is never going to be done legitly, mainly because everyone just wants to get 1 Thousand Voices and be done with Last Wish.

18:48 so how much dps were this in the garden of salvation? Shoot Iza (4 loaded shots) ---> Reload 4 Ammo ---> Switch to wendigo (6 explosive lights) shoots 4 ---> switch back to iza --> Reload and switch back to wendigo 4 shots and so on. What were the exact numbers of this dps? Is this more than xeno/1k and all other setups? I am okay with it if I get average people and 2 Phase, but I am think I am not any more average with 55 Clears GoS, 3-maned GoS and Enlightend title, so I am up to use a not average setup which is may harder to use but better because of more dps. In short: I want to be the DMG KING and need the best and most DPS DMG SETUP
Datto, you should really stop relying on in game rpm numbers and test them yourself. We know from the bs that is delay between charges on Linear Fusion Rifles that the game is not always accurate in the stats it displays (in fact it rarely is), to the point where LFRs are doing HALF the dps most people assume they are
HellNaw tbh I think he underestimated line in the sand here, I got a god roll last season and I top damage numbers every damage phase in the raid over people using whisper or other exotics
MsStrongshot That’s strange bc LFRs are bugged and the charge time they display doesn’t take into account the delay between shots. There’s a delay before you can even start charging that lowers the dps signifcantly. That’s why I don’t trust in game stats at all anymore
@@MsStrongshot what was your damage in a single tether dps? Without using celestial on a hunter i can hit 800k+ in a single tether dps phase. What can you lfr do?
Summary: Izanagi: its shit Wendigo and 150 GLs: Still good Whisper: really good but your aim as to be godlike Xenophage: Best if used by a titan with actium war rig 1k Voices: Good, use if you can't aim Line in the sand: its shit Snioers: only bother if you ran out of heavy Sleeper: its shit
The biggest problem with Izanagis on console has always been that it is difficult to fire the Honed Hdge shot accurately while also simultaneously holding reload to trigger the next Honed Edge without going through two reload animations. That drops its DPS significantly more than what is shown in this video. On MnK, I'm sure that is significantly easier to accomplish, but using a controller adds an extra layer of difficulty to maximize DPS with that gun. Also, my team has consistently had higher DPS with five Xenophages and one Divinity when compared to six Xenophages. It honestly really surprised me that Datto didn't talk about Divinity in this video. To me, it just seems that Xenophage is the best choice for consistency in DPS. I've had runs on the Sanctified Mind that have seen him move around a lot while on the ground, causing people to miss shots, as well as turning sideways while in the air, meaning his crit spot is not in view. Using a gun that is easier to adjust for his movement, and is not reliant on hitting his crit spot, seems like the all-around best choice.
Hey Dum Dum Datto... I don't know why you used the second tether to test your numbers, but the time you can damage him is NOT THE SAME BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND TETHER. For FIRST TETHER he is on the ground for only 6 SECONDS before going up. For SECOND TETHER WHICH IS WHAT YOU USED FOR SOME REASON he is on the ground for OVER TEN SECONDS before going up. Might wanna do a little more research before putting up a video like this for 400k+ people to see.
One thing I feel like gets slightly glazed over in a a lot of these discussions is differentiating between Special DPS and Heavy DPS. (Not this vid specifically, just in general.) You sort of touched on it a little bit mentioning stuff like Sole Survivor is good to pull out for after you run out of Heavy, but when I see people complaining about the Izanagi's nerf and how it competed with Whisper before, I feel like it's just kind of forgotten that we're talking about a Special vs Heavy. Also I think Swords deserve an honorary mention for DPS as well, I know they aren't going to work against a boss like Sanctified Mind that floats 20ft up in the air during damage, but I think they should be brought up as a viable option against more "grounded" bosses as something to keep in mind. (Gahlran's Deception comes to mind, and most Strike bosses for high level Nightfalls.)
Clown Cartridge/Firing Line for Distant Tumulus is a great option for special weapons but it definitely is hard to aim with especially on Sanctified Mind. You can max out your standard mag size with Tactical Mag or any other mag perk so you have a free spot for Boss Spec. Worth considering when done with power weapons, but so are all snipers basically.
I use Line in the Sand with Clown Cartridge and then i switch to firing line before DPS and do about 80k per shot. I can usually get off 9 shots before the dps phase is over. Also use Trophy Hunter with triple tap + vorpal and appended mag and it does work too.
Thought I'd put all the numbers in one place
Izanagis: 21,358 DPS
Whisper: 29, 469 DPS
Wendigo (2 mags): 26,880 DPS
150 GL (2 mags): 25,722 DPS
Xenophage (2 mags): 22,106 DPS
Xenophage (Actium War Rig): 28,908 DPS
1000 Voices (7 shots + reload): 26,230 DPS
Line in the Sand (2 mags): 24,445 DPS
Trophy Hunter (1 mag): 20,150 DPS
Sole Survivor (1 mag): 21,382 DPS
Sleeper Simulant (2 mag): 27,334 DPS
Sleeper Simulant (11 shots): 23,108 DPS

@@snowoffstream5823 Riven is one of the better examples, but in general the damage output guardians have available has helped invalidate most bosses. It's at the point where the most fun you can have with strikes is either handicapping yourself significantly, which players won't do
Players will always veer towards the strongest strategy, even if it's not the most fun.
Mr.Fruit and I both agree just before talking about a gun, please show the gun page. Just so people can see the exotic perk for each weapon aswell as the catalyst.
Thank you and love your videos!
The Tavern is closed.😁
Use fusion rifle when he's one the ground and swap to whisper
As always perfect info and perfect video. Much appreciated. Really good video.
I wanted this video a hour then BAM Datto made my day. Thank you so much man!!!
9:29 Warlocks can actually use transversive steps to reload faster by just running in a circle, or in and out of a bubble mabye.
Colby Shepard exactly! First gear piece I thought of when he said that.
Still takes too long tho.
Getting back into this game since my friends from D1 are hoping on and not knowing what weapons are exactly the best damage has been annoying. SO god bless Datto for this info, really helps.
Congrats Datto, you got the game you want.
Dude that internal timer for reload cancel answers so many questions.
I just thought my Machine Guns were acting stupid because right after my reload, they wouldn't shoot immediately.
Now I know the truth. Thanks for the insight my man.
Yeah it threw me off for a while till I figured out what was going on, especially since it seemed to only ever happen with slow reloading guns.
Didn't sanctified mind get its crit mod changed in season of dawn, so Divinity is actually beneficial now?
Divinity is defo useful now so I'd assume so. I ran it during a run last night
Yes he did.
2x Crit is no longer on Sanctified Mind which is why he thought his old Damage testing was wrong.
Does Divinity still stack with tether or did they fix it ?
It always was useful but so much misinformation made people not use something very benefical. You do not shoot the divinity cage but now it doesnt really matter
@@frogsta360 it doesn't stack. It was a bug that caused it to stack, and bungie patched it
Most advanced chest bump of all time @ 1:45
Wooo no merciless? Bummer. Make merciless great again......errr or just great
I've been rocking with xenophage for months...such a fun gun to use
Finally, one-phasing a raid boss is now a feat instead of the norm.
Started to go for 1000 Voices in Foresaken, got it in Season of Opulence. Been my favorite weapon ever since i got it. Feels so good to see that it is a real competetor
but what about _Hush with Taken spec?_
I'd deffo use an icarus grip for the higher dps on that Boss. Rampage spec also works well
Even though its outdated information now
Sorta
Its still interesting and fun watching these vids again
He forgot darci 😔
Datto. This is why we watch you. You dont need to stress for massive contend and burnout. Just be our theory guy. We love you for this
"Are the Old Gods still around...." I see you WoW Reference ;)
I could listen to datto talk about weapon damage numbers & weapon retirement for hours!
Are trace rifles decent??? I wanna use my coldheart😂
Soy Ortega I hope you’re joking
Unless you have divinity, no
Datto! Best Destiny content out there. Keep up the good work, thank you!
Never thought I see the day where xenophage and 1k were viable
jack young 1k has been good bruh
Bosnian Turkey Except when I blow myself up with it
1k fym? It used to be the best and everyone want it...
Ian Walker but it wasn’t the best dps weapon
Thanks for making content like this. Great stuff
I am okay with it if I get
average people and 2 Phase, but I am think I am not any more
average with 55 Clears GoS, 3-maned GoS and Enlightend title, so I am up to use a not
average setup which is may harder to use but better because of more dps.
In short: I want to be the DMG KING and need the best and most DPS DMG SETUP
Great video, as always datto.
What’s his energy sniper that he’s using in the start of the vid it looks like a psions sniper rifle lol
Because it is, it's trophy hunter which uses basically the same model
Firing Line in The Sand has been my go-to DPS weapon now. I just run a primary or secondary exotic in raids for follow up deeps now.
Warlocks, you're out of luck: The Destiny 2 story
Warlocks bitch constantly: The Destiny 2 story
@Emperor's Champion idk man the exotic they gave you this season is pretty awesome....while the hunter exotic is complete garbage
@@Joker-bc9po our exotic is disabled now
THANK YOU FOR THIS!!!!! the teams I have been on have not been able to put out the DPS needed to beat the boss. So it doesn't get finished SMH
RadTheLad no, I was on tether
MsStrongshot That’s strange bc LFRs are bugged and the charge time they display doesn’t take into account the delay between shots. There’s a delay before you can even start charging that lowers the dps signifcantly. That’s why I don’t trust in game stats at all anymore
@@MsStrongshot what was your damage in a single tether dps? Without using celestial on a hunter i can hit 800k+ in a single tether dps phase. What can you lfr do?
Nice content, keep it up bro 🙏
Summary:
Izanagi: its shit
Wendigo and 150 GLs: Still good
Whisper: really good but your aim as to be godlike
Xenophage: Best if used by a titan with actium war rig
1k Voices: Good, use if you can't aim
Line in the sand: its shit
Snioers: only bother if you ran out of heavy
Sleeper: its shit
Change armamentariam to actium war rig boss
@@NorthernHarker nice catch!
line in the sand can deal up to 500k easy per damage phase
@@MrNuclearz Gotchu
But sleeper was one of the highest dps weapons mentioned.
This was satisfying to see and be informed on. Great video appreciate the effort in putting this together
"Ophidian Aspect" - Datto, you have failed me once again.
It does not auto reload
Khalil Butler nothing does
@@secretchannel6232 actium war rig
Dude I thought my controller was broken. Thanks for letting me know you cant cancel Izanagis reload!
I already know Xeno will win there’re no way
The biggest problem with Izanagis on console has always been that it is difficult to fire the Honed Hdge shot accurately while also simultaneously holding reload to trigger the next Honed Edge without going through two reload animations.
Using a gun that is easier to adjust for his movement, and is not reliant on hitting his crit spot, seems like the all-around best choice.
i told them "Xenophage will be meta" they said "Uh-huh, ok"
now, they burn in the fires of hell as i rise, as the alpha male gamer i am.
Needed this thanks daddo
Hey Dum Dum Datto... I don't know why you used the second tether to test your numbers, but the time you can damage him is NOT THE SAME BETWEEN THE FIRST AND SECOND TETHER. For FIRST TETHER he is on the ground for only 6 SECONDS before going up. For SECOND TETHER WHICH IS WHAT YOU USED FOR SOME REASON he is on the ground for OVER TEN SECONDS before going up. Might wanna do a little more research before putting up a video like this for 400k+ people to see.
I don’t even play destiny anymore I just like these videos
One thing I feel like gets slightly glazed over in a a lot of these discussions is differentiating between Special DPS and Heavy DPS. (Not this vid specifically, just in general.)
You sort of touched on it a little bit mentioning stuff like Sole Survivor is good to pull out for after you run out of Heavy, but when I see people complaining about the Izanagi's nerf and how it competed with Whisper before, I feel like it's just kind of forgotten that we're talking about a Special vs Heavy.
+1 on the swords; seasonal mods for swords go hard.
We have been graced by his numbers. The lord addith and the lord subtractith.
Nice numbers and thanks for the work.
I use Line in the Sand with Clown Cartridge and then i switch to firing line before DPS and do about 80k per shot. I can usually get off 9 shots before the dps phase is over. Also use Trophy Hunter with triple tap + vorpal and appended mag and it does work too.
