I got the same problem. I was looking to buy a new wiper motor and I have found your video. I did exactly the same maintenance as you did and it works great. Thanks a lot.
Great video! I must say, though, the trim removal being perhaps the most difficult part of this job, this 60+ DIYer has learned to check the operation before reassembling all the interior bits and pieces. It's saves a lot of "do overs".
Thanks very much for the video. My 2015 Crosstrek XV just ran into this problem. Being out of work I was hoping to avoid going to a shop and paying for the repairs. Your video helped solve the problem. Much appreciated, and please keep posting these vids! Cheers!
My 2004 subaru legacy spec.B kinda has a similar issue; when you put the wiper on interval, it like gets stuck mid swing and then I have to turn it off and back into interval to get it seated back into place instead of in the middle of the window. I’ll give this a try!! Nice video!!
The rear wiper on my 1999 Forester suddenly stopped working. I was able to fix it thanks to your video. It looks like the design hasn't changed at all from 1999 to 2012! Thank you!
My rear window wiper got iced against the glass and started doing the same thing. Followed this, everything is clean (lived in NC when I bought it) and the door was serviced back in April. The nut that ties everything together was loose I guess, because after I put everything back together, it worked like charm. This saved me $100! Thanks for the guide!
We live in California and while up in the Sierras for a ski trip the rear wiper on our 2019 Forester stopped working. It was twitching a little so I figured the motor was still working but wasn’t sure what the problem was. After watching your video I decided to start disassembling the wiper. What I found was that the nut holding the wiper blade was really loose, probably unscrewed itself when it froze up and I kept trying to turn it on. Anyway, I tightened the nut and it works perfectly now. And it only took five minutes. Thanks so much. Craig from San Jose
Thank you! With your video, I was able to fix our problem, which turned out to be just a loose nut securing the wiper arm on our ‘07 Forester. I would never have been able to even get the plastic cover removed, much less determine it was something I could fix myself, without your instructions. No telling what the dealer would have charged.
Awesome video. This happened to my Honda HRV and this video walked me through the whole process. The wiper assembly is very similar. Everything now works like a charm. Really appreciated!
@@TwoFourSevenDIY For my 14' SJ model 100 % same issue coused by corrosion and dirt build up on the wiper shaft. Wiper motor and gearbox seems to be exact. Just cleaned everything, greased and wiper is working again. Thanks again for the fix!
@@TwoFourSevenDIY One more thing, maybe it will help some one, as you mentioned wiper base is plastic and is really brittle, and removal from the shaft can be tricky... after few almost catastrophic attempts, i took a washer with inner diameter a little bigger than the shaft, cut it open (like "U"), slide it underneath the wiper base, and then used puller tool safetly hooked on the washer.
@TwoFourSevenDIY I manage to get the rear wiper back to working again, the netal shaft was completely clean but somehow the entire shaft was BENT. like, bending so hard I had to torch the thing and hammer it for an hour to get it out!!! I have NO clue how it could possibly bend, but after a quick realignment and shaving some parts it's all good to go. what a nightmare....

Glad to hear this video is helpful even for non-subaru vehicles!

Awesome, I'm glad the video was such a help!
Got to love the salty Ny winter roads! It sure does a number on our vehicles 🤨.

Great tip!
good video TFS, im hoping i can apply this fix to my impreza assuming that subaru makes their designs all similar to yours, thanks!
Generally speaking, yea, Subaru keeps things simmilar across models. I bet yours should be simmilar in how it's accessed

Yea as Donut Media says "cars are pain" lol. Sometimes it's just like that.
Glad to hear you got it sorted out!
My wiper randomly stops on intermittent, and doesn't park. Runs fine on continuous. That may a different problem?
Hard to say really. You would think it would stick in all scenarios if it were getting gummed up witch corrosion.
Thakyou
You are welcome!
???????
