The amount of times I’ve referenced this video … thanks so much for making such a detailed video in a short amount of time. Truly a lot more helpful than reading the paper 😅
When you pulled out the Fass switch, I immediately thought my phone screen went off. Great video. You got my Lutron all set up the way I wanted. Thanks.
All I can say is two years…TWO YEARS!! Two years ago I bought my house and the previous owners installed this switch in the bathroom and didn’t leave any information. They must have had it set to 3 minutes before it turns off because it seemed like I was constantly sticking my hand out of the shower and waving it to get the light on. I never noticed the brand name on it and figured I was just screwed and I never bothered getting a new one. This video was so helpful!
Thanks guys! Glad I’m I wasn’t the only one waving at a light switch mid shower. 🤣🤣🤣 and that the 2 year mark is the average timeframe for being fed up!
Installed these in the bathroom of my bar that has a very low key dark atmosphere. needless to say having these ramp up to max brightness all the time was antithetical to having a dimmer in the first place. After reading the manual and watching another video, YOURS saved my ass. Thank you very much.
This was very helpful as we somehow misplaced the instructions and did not even know the model, until I looked at your thumbnail under search results. Thank you
Great video, I'd like to add to exit programming mode instead of waiting 1 minute for it to timeout. You can simply press the T button or big rectangular center button and hold it for 5 seconds it will exist. Caution holding it for 15 seconds restores all settings back to factory settings.
Great video! OWO (off while occupied)..if it's manually turned off it will remain off while people are still in room. Good application for a theater/movie room
I just moved into a new apt and I had NO idea how I was going to program this little bad boy lol thank you so much for this detailed tutorial. Wowowow. I’m so happy I can adjust it now lol 🤓😁
Mine turns on itself with no occupancy in the room, no matter how I set it up or what I do, it always turn on randomly and I think the unit is defective
Thanks so much for clarifying how to set up my sensor light switch. My electrician had no idea and tried to convince me to use a standard dimmer switch. I can't wait to have this installed and then programmed!
Is there a way to disable the motion sensor altogether so you can just turn it on and off manually? I work in a salon suite and they have one of these installed in my room. I use alternative lighting because I hate the ugly LED ceiling lights in my room, but the lights keep turning on when I don't want them to. (I don't have the instructions.) Thank you!
Thank you so much, I had been trying to program this Lurton motion switch for a week! By the way it was installed in the bedroom. The auto light was driving me crazy with l movement. 😀
Thank you Seth for the detailed description of the settings. I really prefer the 1 minute timeout settings but while in the shower the 1 minute isn’t long enough since the sensor doesn’t recognize while someone is in the shower.
Great for review. Wanted to know more about this switch before I bought it. Now I can use it to review when I need to change something. I like how you referenced the included instructions while explaining all the functions, Thanks.
Even though I follow your step by step instruction the unit seems not to hold the settings. I had this unit elsewhere in my house and decided to move it to a bathroom for motion sensing on/off because the builder put the switch in a non-standard location in the room. But even when I had installed it in my kitchen the set up programming took an eternity. I have many Caseta units which are easy to make work. This Maestro was designed by angry engineers with a vendetta against humanity. A royal pain in the keester.
Any way to have it stay on? I love the motion detection to turn it on, but when we’re watching TV we have the living room light off and leave the kitchen lights on (this switch) but hate having to wave something to have it come back on. Would like to just be able to leave it on, then turn it off when we’re done, but also have it automatically turn on when we come back into the room. Sorry for the long question.
Do you have to reprogram it if the lights go out? I'm thinking I may return it and try another brand. Does anyone have recommendation. --Thanks for an excellent video.
Yep, if the lights aren't turning on when you want them to, just hit the button within 5 seconds of walking into the room, and it should start to learn when you want the lights on based on the ambient light level in the room when you push the button.
Hi Seth. Great video - I can't seem to figure out how to turn the light down so it turns completely off to dark. Is that in the ambient light settings?
Anyone have issues using this with led pod lights? It only works on the most dim setting with motion on. If I have it at anything higher then most dim setting, the light just flash like a camera for a second but doesn't stay on. Are my led too low wattage?
I installed 4X LED panel lights in the kitchen. They are 4' x 2' that sit in a ceiling grid system. Rated at 4k lumens each and it's a small (120 Sq.Ft) room and it's light walking into the sun. They are dimmable so I bought the switch you reviewed here. Not only does it not dim the lights but when it's being turned down and reaches about half way the lights begin flickering. One light stays bright and the other 3 alternate flickering among themselves. Each light is 30w for a total of 120w. I did nothing with the derating section as this switch in in a box with mechanical switches. So bottom line, it isn't dimming the lights and when it reaches about half way down the flickering begins. Any suggestions?
I seem to remember programming it as OWO (off while occupied) I believe it’s your only option to turn it into vacancy mode. (Manual on, then timeout after 1-30 minutes) if room is not occupied.
I got this switch and it works fine except for one thing...it doesn't completely turn off. If I leave the room, it turns all the way to the lowest possible position, but not completely off for some reason. It stays on really low like a night light. I can't figure out how to get it to turn off completely.
That's strange. I'm not sure if that's a faulty switch or just a strange setting (it sounds more like the former than the latter, but I'm not 100% sure). You could try calling Lutron customer service to ask about that. They're pretty good at answering these questions pretty quick and painlessly.
After installing mine the 1st day it worked fine but the 2nd day my lights started buzzing. Ive noticed it after programming it I believe. Any clues whats the cause and how to fix the annoying cricket sound buzzing?
Do you have the wires connected to the switch correctly? Could there be any issues with the wires touching each other? I've never experienced this, but it sounds like it might be an installation issue. You could always call Lutron customer service to get their take on it. They've always been helpful for me.
Hey Edward! Yep, there's actually a special way to write it with a companion switch (if you're just using one other switch, it can be a simple mechanical switch). The companion switch wires have to be paired a certain way, which is beyond the scope of this video. When I did it, I figured it out by calling Lutron customer support and they were able to help me get it done. Their number is 1.800.523.9466. Good luck!
By the time he got finished over explaining every little function, my switch would time out and I had no way to know if the function set or not. Hopefully, my switch isn't set incorrectly and will still work.

Literally been doing this for almost 2 years in my own shower before finally deciding to find the manual online and then this video 😂
Same man, it’s been two years before I looked up how to fix it. Lights would always turn off when I was showering every 3 minutes 😂
Thanks guys! Glad I’m I wasn’t the only one waving at a light switch mid shower. 🤣🤣🤣 and that the 2 year mark is the average timeframe for being fed up!

Top of the line video, thanks, I usually throw instructions away.
Beautifully explained

Thanks Seth! Its been so long since I programmed it. This thing is great for pendant lights. I might have to do my whole room too.

Good job explaining the nightmare switch! hopefully your description is better then the giant sheet of paper instruction that comes with the switch.

Thanks for watching! I hear you. For the shower, you'll probably have to set it to the 15-minute setting.
Does anyone have an issue where the lights turn on but the 25 seconds timer turns off the lights while there is still movement in the room?
Thanks alot Much needed help with programming this 5 🌟

I’m looking for a simple way to save the lowest dimmer setting so it always comes on with that lower setting as it’s default. Please help me 🤔

That’s exactly what the OWO feature does - the feature he did not explain.
@@craigmulanax2266 can you please explain this further?
Just have a post it note near by and cover the sensor and it will work whether you want it off or on. That's what bingo amdnit works like a charm
Yea. Buy a regular dimmer switch

How I can bypass the sensor, like keep the lights on permanent for few hours.
Great video!
Thanks!
Fantastic! Thank you
Is there a way to raise the level of Ambien light detect ? Or will adjusting the motion sensitivity to high resolve the issue?

Does this work with Apple HomeKit
Hi Seth. Great video - I can't seem to figure out how to turn the light down so it turns completely off to dark. Is that in the ambient light settings?
Are these compatible with LED fluorescents being they are dimmable? Before mine go off they flash for about five or 10 seconds
