Homesick is one of the greatest albums of the 2000s. I remember when it came out it had the metalcore nerds and the pop punk kids in harmony lol

100% a 10/10 album. I was finishing my junior year when it came out. I've been a huge fan since 2007, being from the Florida panhandle my friends and I used to blast Plot To Bomb The Panhandle on long drives. I hate that I've never gotten to see them live, they were in all of our top 5 favorite bands, even if the other 4 varied a bit.

First time I heard that fusion of metalcore heaviness mixed with legit pop punk. 10/10

The trilogy run of Homesick, What Separates and Common Courtesy is basically untouchable. They’re all 11/10, no skip albums in my opinion. And to me CC is not only their best album but my #1 album of all time.

    • @RiggedandReady
      @RiggedandReady 3 місяці тому +1

I guess I have to go back and really check out CC. I loved Homesick and their prior efforts. I fell off around what seperates me from you through no fault of the music. Ive revisited it recently and I like it a lot.
I'll have to do the same for courtesy.

Common Courtesy will always be my #1. Not only is it a no-skip record but the history surrounding the release not only Saved ADTR from disbanding, but set a case precedent for how artists are compensated, saving probably thousands of artists from unpaid royalties.
Such an important record not only for the Scene, but the music industry as a whole.

Homesick and What Separates Me from You were the literal soundtrack to high school for me. Common Courtesy dropped the year after I graduated and sound tracked my first year of college. So much lovely nostalgia for these lads. Got to see them twice too and they've got a killer live show. Absolutely love them.

This band has so much sentimental value for me. Cried hearing CC for the first time after how excited I was for it. Tattoos of the band, shirts, seeing them 14 times. They’re my GOAT. Having moved away from home for the military and hearing City of Ocala and then traveling home to see ADTR and having them play COO as I looked at the Pittsburgh skyline… all time memory for me.
    1. CC
    2. Homesick
    3. For Those Who Have Heart

Common courtesy came out right after my divorce. I remember just playing it non stop and going to see them twice in the same year in Nashvillle that year. Seeing them at a small venue and then at the amphitheater opening for Blink was just such a great year. They literally helped me get through the darkest time in my life and now at 30 with a new life I can still jam out to them with the same friends I met in college when this was out. Such nostalgia! Common courtesy is my #1 for that reason. But It Means A Lot To You is the #1 song because every party I went to for years straight that would play once a night and the entire house full of people would stop what they were doing and sing the whole thing together. Good times!

I found them from my cable provider. They had that on demand channel for music videos. Saw the cover of kelly clarkson and got sucked in until bad vibrations. It also got me into a static lullaby, silverstein, and bullet for my valentine. I was into blink and simple plan, so it felt cool to find that progression. Then youtube. Oh god

I want to see am Adam D from Killswitch Engage Deep Dive/Tier list.
The dude is a legend and is largely responsible for the sounds that Metalcore ended up being known for.
    And he’s batshit crazy.

    • @TheDude044
      @TheDude044 3 місяці тому +1

Absolutely. Killswitch is great but I really think people truly do NOT realize how much of a legend Adam is as a producer in the early 2000’s scene. He produced some of the most iconic 2000’s albums, all while producing every Killswitch album as well. Can’t speak highly enough about him. He’s a genius.

This was great Finn, probably the same order I'd put them in. I know you're into Emmure, they were another "what am I hearing right now?!" bands to me, like ADTR, when I first heard how heavy GTTG was. Still love Emmure and they've had a lot of interesting history, lineup changes, charismatic front man like you talk about. I'd be very interested in a video about them and an album ranking like this. Like with common courtesy coming out later but being one of the best, I feel that way about Speaker of the Dead. Anyway, great video thanks for all the consistently enjoyable content.

Will always be my favorite group. I remember exactly where I was back in 2009 when I heard that opening to Downfall of us All. We were sitting at the lunch table in 7th grade and a buddy had just gotten it as his ringtone. I was hooked on them from then & there. Trying to pick a 1st or 2nd b/w Homesick & Common Courtesy is like trying to decide which arm you want to cut off, it can't really be done. Homesick is their best but Common Courtesy is my favorite. That opening to Right Back at it Again just gives me chills every time I hear it. Still listen to these guys a lot. Loving the remix of For Those Who Have Heart as well.

Homesick is the album that got me into heavier music. I was a real light pop punk fan, I didn't like growling vocals and I remember my friend showed me the video for downfall of us all on his iPod and my mind was blown. Like they had the clean vocals with the growls and that chugging intro with the double bass drums. I didn't like what separates us at first but I really came around on it. I'm glad you give common courtesy the praise it deserves, it is honestly a super underrated album, and the true refinement of their sound without losing what made them special like they have recently....

Homesick brought my metalhead brother and pop punk me together. Still remember spitting dirt after their 09 Warped Tour show. Absolute insanity.

I became interested in metal around 2016/17. Though not my prefered style, I recently listened to every ADTR album, and CC and Homesick are my favorite albums by them, but my favourite moment in their discography is A Plot followed by Monuments, I just love both those songs so much. Im glad ive been going back and hearing old artists, because albums like Homesick have come to shock me in how much I've liked them. I made my little brother listen to Homesick with me again the same day i heard it the first time lol

This was dead on Finn. I've been an ADTR fan since 2008 when one of my buddies played FTWHH for me in his busted ass chevy cavalier with a system in it🤣🤣

For Those Who Have Heart for me is absolutely my favorite albums from them. I remember hearing "The Plot to Bomb the Panhandle" one night after school in high-school and I was hooked...I literally couldn't stop listening to the album that night and was up until 1 or 2 am with it in report. I agree with you though, none of the albums are bad. I can listen to them all and enjoy them.

Amazing band. One of my top 5 ever. A shame what they did with their last album but there's a couple good songs there so I know they're still good.

I first heard them in like 7th, 8th grade when, so like 2004-2006. I think for those who have heart was fairly new, but i loved "and their name was treason". Obviously rough but alot of stuff was rough back then like "count your blessings"

ADTR has so many great songs it's really hard to really rank them. I love Plot to Bomb the Panhandle (currently my wake up alarm) but the whole Homesick album is just incredible.

    I'd rank it (worst-best):
    Demo,
    For Those Who Have Heart,
    You're Welcome,
    Bad Vibrations,
    Common Courtesy
    And Their Name Was Treason,
    For Those Who Have Heart,
    What Separates Me From You,
    Homesick,

A Day to Remember have done every fucking thing under the sun musically and make it work every time. I'm a fan of their heavy stuff and I will not leave this discussion without mentioning life lessons learned the hard way, my god that track goes so freaking hard

For Those Who Have Heart is by far my favorite...I believe nostalgia may be a big factor there. It takes me straight back to freshman/sophomore year. After that probably homesick

My emotional attachment to Ocala is my brother lived there for years and he met a couple members in passing in 2005 through 2007 and he had no idea who he met because we have a 14 year age gap and he's in 40s now and I'm in early 30s. I got into them later in my 20s when my brother showed me them. Nothing but respect for ADTR

Treason over Bad Vibes for me personally is wild! I come back to bad vibes as much as any ADTR record.

I think I pretty much agree with these rankings. Common Courtesy has more of my favourite songs from them on it, but Homesick is just a slightly better overall package so those 2 at the top are pretty in interchangeable for me. Though the first three songs of CC back to back are among some of my favourites in the genre.
