I have checked out several Sleep Token songs and I have yet to hear anything in their music that's metal. They sound more R&B/Boy band then metal. I watched one reviewer who listened to the full album and he said he added up all the moments that might be metal, and he said he was being very liberal with what he allowed to be considered metal, and it total 16 minutes on an album that's 63 minutes long. For a band to be metal then metal should be the dominant genre in the music. 16 minutes of generously being called metal on a 63 minute long album doesn't make you a metal band anymore than Celtic Frost adding some symphonic elements to Into The Pandemonium makes Celtic Frost classical musicians. A lot of people argue Ghost isn't a metal band, but Ghost is a lot more metal then Sleep Token.
How is Ghost more of a metal band than Sleep Token? Almost all of their music is just dark pop rock. They have little to no metal riffs, no intricate metal drumming, etc.... Sleep Token obviously takes elements from pop and r&b, but they also are clearly heavily influenced by heavy rock/metal. Their drumming and guitar playing is much closer to metal than anything you find in Sleep Token. They have groove. They have riffs. They have guitar solos.
Ghost's entire first album is 100% a doom metal album. I would even argue Ghost's 3rd album is a metal album. Ghost has more metal riffs then Sleep Token. I have yet to hear a single thing I would consider metal from Sleep Token. But then again I also can't make it through a single song because I hate R&B @@justsomerandomguyman

Chevelle has always gone unnoticed despite being absolutely FIRE all the way through. Thier albums as a whole don't get thier due credit but thier massive bangers also be getting disrespected.
Songs like Face To The Floor, JoyRide, Hats Off To The Bull absolutely KILL 10/10 times
@@Ki11Th3mA11Kid dude the clincher and vitamin r are ridiculous among many more. I've seen them I dont know how many times since I was probably 12 and they always delivered. They should have gotten a better record label a long time ago.
@@brandonshaul9944 NOTHING but FACTS bro. Out of all my friends who are all rockers I've always been the only one who seriously jammed Chevelle consistently. They always got played on the radio growing up but as times have changed the radio isn't really big anymore and isn't how bands get recognized anymore. A good label would have realized that and changed up and since they waited so long to go independent thier last album or so suffered greatly despite being as solid as any. Just didn't have any promotional push at all. But I bet independently they will be better off
I suppose I've officially entered part 2 of my life.
When lil uzi asked his friends if he should drop the song they were too high and thought he meant drop it and get rid of it and never let anyone else hear it ever.
Wtf, no Spiritbox mention?
Happy 2023 the year of our lord Finn Mckenty! 🤘🤘
Sleep Token being near 3 million listeners is wild
Man Finn really has zeroed in on that TikTok line in "The American Dream Is Killing Me". Like it's not like they made a whole song about the issues of social media (which is a genuine worry) in a cringe way, they just said like 3 words and kept going with the rest of the song.
I couldn't give two sh*ts about Blink and I'm ecstatic to see them back together!
I hope papa Finn makes a favourite songs of the year video again
I feel like the "tiktok pop punk" revival has helped warm up casual music listeners to listening to music with loud distorted guitars and drums...it wasn't the right trend at the right time because it didn't last more than three or so years...that's just how things are nowadays though with popular music and music in popular culture...trends cycle faster in today's social and cultural climate with social media becoming this hype cycle rumor-mill bandwagon...i think there will be something that comes out soon with some type of rock element in it's music that becomes a new trend and it will be bigger than "tiktok pop punk"
Billie Eilish reposted an “It Dies Today” song on her ig this past summer lol
*First min of every Finn video* “Hey guys isn’t it crazy how old we all are and we’re all gonna die soon. Anyways here’s my thoughts on the new BMTH song”
Accurate
Thank you for another great year!! 👀
I never had a problem with Creed or Nickelback 😂
I'm not worried about dying. When it happens, I'll be the only person who won't know it happened.
I was expecting you talking about A7X new album LIBAD. It has been incredibly divisive among fans, so it would have been interesting listening to your opinion about it. I personally love it
Dilemma is easily Green Day's best song in years.
Best album of 2023 Crosses "Goodnight, God Bless, I Love U, Delete" !!!
Sleep Token is r&b for goth girls/girls who listen to metal!!😂😂
I have listened to a bunch of their songs trying to figure out the hype and I haven't heard anything metal from them. They look metal but sound R&B/boy band. Ghost is more metal then Sleep Token. I defended Ghost as a metal band for their first three albums, but I can't defend Sleep Token as a metal band, because they are not.
You know you watch too much of Finn when you know the things he will repeat a band says/sings
You could just pay a few bucks for Getty images you know.
Gen X is a pay piggy, too. I have tickets to Hootie and the Blowfish..unironically😂
i like songs around 5 to 7 min. to much longer it can get boring and to much shorter its like a jingle. i like a intro and outro . but just my preference
Imagine putting out a video titled the year metal got popular again and putting people in the thumbnail that are not metal or hard rock at all!
Once I was still old enough to legally drink in those " was a decade ago" I officially felt like I was going to die each night I went to bed; because I honestly might as well be Death because of how old I am.
(I turned 38 in June, btw. Lol.)
