+Kenny Tiilikainen why are there always little shits like you trolling and hating in the comments area? The best part is that most of you are not even in America lol.
Just dont ask him anything about the east coast because apparently he thinks we dont have any mexican joints over here while that aint the case. He has to get his ass over to NY and i'll show him chicharron and home made masa from 10 spots off the top of my head that would blow his mind away compared to the LA shit.
It's nice to hear that there are other Asians who felt depressed and outcast for not being a high dollar atom splitters. I do what I love and am now encouraged. Thank you, Eddie and Roy.
I had a recent brief e-mail exchange with a friend of former friend... he's Chinese-American, 30s, like me. I was telling him how I've been ostracized and often mistreated by my own Chinese people my whole life, even though I continue to learn parts of the culture and can communicate decently in Cantonese. Never met him in person, but he has a high position in a hedge fund (which probably means he's doing very well). He was quite nice, but one thing he said to me stung: "People judge you by your job position: keep progressing or become obsolete." That mentality is disturbing; so my personality, level of self-education, etc., none of those other qualities are enough for me to be treated with respect? All that matters is "job title" and "greatness of salary"?
I have so much love for Roy Choi and what he has down for LA! I remember I was in high school when Kogi first started. 2 hour lines to get amazing food! I still go to their trucks from time to time. Nothing beats a spicy pork burrito and coke. Killer combination!
3:30 That's basically every Asian family I know in America. Your parents won't "force" you into a certain career field, but they'll make you feel like shit if you're not an engineer, doctor, lawyer or similar. Try convincing an Asian parent to pay for four years of tuition at Berkeley as an art major... it ain't gonna happen. LOL
Tecumseh Sherman This is second generation middle class mentality. The funny thing is that the parents discover too late, when their child is 35 and an alcoholic, that sending your kid to Berkeley as an art major is old money, brown money move. High staus stuff. But by then the kid is demoralized, literally. Best to watch the kid and see what they are good at, what they pursue, and support that.
If you don't eat meat try nopales. That means cactus, pronounced "No-Paul-Ez." As long you got horchata & homemade tortillas you're eating authentic. After that it's whatever meat you like or can afford. Some people can only afford cactus & beans, tortillas & rice water.
EPIC ...........EDDIE CALLING HOMIE A JEDI...................KUDOS TO YOU FOR FILMING.........M..........great learning tool STAY SMART AND SAFE............. shout out from Santa Paula CA
On the topic of eating food prepared by locals with local ingredients whether it's meats, vegetables, etc, that one dude is undoubtedly correct: for the past couple decades we've been eating shit that's easy to grab & eat on the go, little-to-no preparation required (i.e. pop tarts, hamburger helper, etc), but thanks to guys like Huang, the internet, social media, etc future generations will have access to information and statistics that past generations didn't have. And we're only at the beginning of realizing things like growing your own food, eating local meats, etc is indisputably better than buying processed garbage with tons of preservatives, dyes, etc
My first time in LA I stayed a week. That whole week I went to all 5 different Guisados locations atleast once or twice. Yall think I’m exaggerating? Wait until yall try it. This place is crazy good.
he's doing a show based on eddie's life with a tv network and they're stealing the name "fresh off the boat". so vice has to change the name of this show.
if that's the case the "huang's world" video only serves to confuse. What I got from the "huang's world" video they were making a new series called huang's world, not renaming the old show, and making a new show with the old title (fresh off the boat)..
fresh off the boat will be a sit-com or something on tv with actors. haungs world will be the new food/culture show featuring eddie huang. they had to redo the opening to change it so they dont get sued, thats why they have to reupload all the old episodes. the new episodes are in the making i believe.
I enjoy the shared culture in LA. Its like only yesterday me and my work group are finishing up a mountain trail for firefighters or planting Indigenous Chaparral plant life for a program. Afterwards we take my moms car to a Vietnamese co-worker/homie's family restaurant in China town to chill with him and the Salvadorian home girl to piece up (smoke together) with Rasta who didn't have ends to match up (share the bill) but Juice puts in for him (pays his tab) at the cannabis dispensary bar with our trusty medical cards. Later I go to LA trade tech and build robots while faded and the rest go to their classes as part of the same program as our jobs. Eventually most graduate or are still in school, half with honors. These aren't confused Asians you rat bastards but mutually respected Los Angelino Minority members and non but we still kick it. If you choose not to understand all the cultural context such as colloquial dialects and integration because China Town is right next to East LA, you could misinterpret them as being confused.
Man you got to come to the valley Edinburg Texas you ain't eating no Hot Pockets no Pop Tarts now we got tacos in the morning and afternoon and at night. lmao
How does he know if you can’t find authentic handmade corn tortillas in the rest of the US besides LA? I ate them many times at a restaurant in Fairfax,CA in Marin County.
dame... we traded Jaun for Huang to represent our culture??? but he did it very well... and im proud someone did... just for once i wish there was Hispanics or Mexicans on the vice channel representing us ???? vice has all walks of life representing there Cultures and beliefs and we have not one ??? thank you Huang for showing our culture to the World ♡ and vice you need to step up your game on being diverse for an East coast network...?
shylildude Last time i checked "mexicans" don't dress like choy. It's the l.a. vibe shit...mexicans in mexico try to dress like us in l.a. Chicanos bring the same vibe as koreans.
@munchies you have your descriptions wrong. This video is the Roy Choi video, the 3/3 video are the low riders. If your looking for an editor hit me up
Once again malorie, tx still will it compete with LA regarding Mexican food it just won't trust me. Being Boricua/mex I fucking love SoCal but I also crave my rican food from the east.
what is this guy talking about you dont see this in the east coast theres plenty from were i am from in boston u see this shit around corners bodegas this guy clearly hasnt been to the east coast theres plenty of spanish joints that have this open style buffet
Mike Pineda Roy's OG so he probably is a little behind but he's correct in the sense that the West had a lot more shit initially because of immigration patterns and that's not only in regards to people with Latino backgrounds. There's plenty of shit in the East Coast that came to the West Coast later, I'm sure.
the soundtrack was too much.... it was like watching Asians getting ducked up on crosses by the Christian Spanish Inquistioners. YOU KNOW the Inquisition. It's what happen to California back in the day. that and the oilers
yo thats that bull shit though. love eddie. hes cool. but Roy or whatever, i dont think he knows NY if hes saying you cant be finding chicharron and home made masa for tamales and shit. Been in NY my whole life and i can tell you without a doubt, that shits fuckin everywhere. you cant be riding up to manhattan and going to china town and expecting to find mexicans selling chicharron n shit. around the block theres a place you can get fresh chicharron at. and 2 blocks away you get those big n cripsy chip like chicharron pieces. im actually a lil surprised Eddie didn't correct him. NYC is one of the biggest cu ltural melting pots in the world, if not the biggest in the US. Specially in queens. that guy dont know wtf hes talking about. Much love to Eddie though, hes still the man. right next to action bronson.
Pretty sure he's talking about the Mexican food in LA being a lot better since most immigrants move to California and especially LA. Where there's more Mexicans there's bound be far better Mexican food.
dame... we traded Jaun for Huang to represent our culture??? but he did it very well... and im proud someone did... just for once i wish there was Hispanics or Mexicans on the vice channel representing us ???? vice has all walks of life representing there Cultures and beliefs and we have not one ??? thank you Huang for showing our culture to the World ♡ and vice you need to step up your game on being diverse for an East coast network...?
Roy Choi is one of the coolest doods in LA. Super down to earth and cool. If you ever get a chance to talk with him, take advantage of it.
Hilarious and original.

Real talk.
@@KEN117MC there's barely any mexican joints on the east coast, not like there are in the west. It's sooo much better over there.

@Adrian Ctu I don't remember what I wrote, and I think I don't want to read it back. I was extra angsty that year. Yikes.
@Adrian Ctu lol now I definitely don't remember what I wrote. ;-)
this episode was too short...much respect to the legend Roy Choi!
I have so much love for Roy Choi and what he has down for LA! I remember I was in high school when Kogi first started. 2 hour lines to get amazing food! I still go to their trucks from time to time. Nothing beats a spicy pork burrito and coke. Killer combination!
The best show on Vice.
roy choi, respect

Yaaaaaas chicharrones! Love your Eddie Huang!
My first time in LA I stayed a week. That whole week I went to all 5 different Guisados locations atleast once or twice. Yall think I’m exaggerating? Wait until yall try it. This place is crazy good.
im pretty sure they just re-released the old Fresh of the boat under a new name.. I've seen all of these before.
he's doing a show based on eddie's life with a tv network and they're stealing the name "fresh off the boat". so vice has to change the name of this show.

Right :) Makes sense now
Their ready for Season 3 that's why they uploaded these
Those tortillas are like the ones you get from taco trucks here in Oakland. East 14th, Fruitvale. So tasty!

I'm not gonna lie, I'm headed straight to this place for lunch this Friday when I got a whole free day in LA.
I know Roy Choi was with someone who was a guest on Joe Rogan Experience Podcast... Help Bert Kreischer and I remember!!
Just saw Roy Choi on Parts Unknown... sick shit
I think that was my corn man in the first few mins of this episode
What is that song for his intro?! Song has a sick BEAT
My home town !
East LA the spot doe.
great job Eddie
Hamburger helper is fucking awesome, like he said though, not every night.
1:52 "Roy is definitely Jedi Master", immediately followed by Roy doing the most awkward un-jedi flag duck. Real talk fam.
Eddie you don't have to constantly belittle Orlando to make a point lol. We have culture too!
A lot of mexicans in orlando, florida? you mean cubans, right?
Nice.
I enjoy the shared culture in LA. Its like only yesterday me and my work group are finishing up a mountain trail for firefighters or planting Indigenous Chaparral plant life for a program. Zane .FIelds the H is silent so dont go and ask for Hoer-chata lol Or-chata
How does he know if you can’t find authentic handmade corn tortillas in the rest of the US besides LA?
I ate them many times at a restaurant in Fairfax,CA in Marin County.
Lol idk what part of New York be going but you see lots of chicharrón at the Dominican food trucks and restaurants
The funny thing is the same time he comes into this video is the same time he is in Nate Dog's video...
I went to guisados when I was in LA for 2 weeks, shit was fucking BOMB. must stop
dame... we traded Jaun for Huang to represent our culture???
but he did it very well...
and im proud someone did...
just for once i wish there
was Hispanics or Mexicans
on the vice channel representing us ????
vice has all walks of life representing there Cultures

have not one ???
thank you Huang for showing our culture to the World ♡
and vice you need to step up your game on being diverse for an East coast network...?
Respects to roy
asian acting black meets asian acting mexican lol
No acting involved. Just do you, and the gold shines through.
Are they supposed to bow and wear kimonos?
You're an ignorant sore loser!
Why's this comment making people salty lmao
shylildude
Last time i checked "mexicans" don't dress like choy. It's the l.a. vibe shit...mexicans in mexico try to dress like us in l.a. Chicanos bring the same vibe as koreans.
I like Roy Choi
Lmao you went by my house.
its not about coolness, its about what people can afford.
im pretty sure every hispanic culture has chicharon. shits big for cubans, especially on noche buena
@mindfulness223 its pork skin, nobody invented pork skin
Roy Choy is in Nate Dog's video: My House at 1:22 --1:24
whats the song in the intro ?? :D
Getting Mine - Delancey
go to long beach!!
whats the milky drinks they are having at the mexican place? Looks good!
It's called Horchata. It has a milky cinnamon flavor. It really helps cool off your tongue when you're eating spicy shit.
Emil Petersen Horchata is the milky, red is Jamaica and orange Mango and Pineapple, all freshly made and quintessential to the real experience
As long the horchata not too watery i hate that bullshit
My friend made Horchata by grinding raw white rice in water. The water turns white, you add cinnamon and some sugar. Voila, you have Horchata.
@munchies you have your descriptions wrong. This video is the Roy Choi video, the 3/3 video are the low riders. If your looking for an editor hit me up
My dude just ate the masa
I'm so fuckin hungry right now.
🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
Come to Baltimore I'll show you the best tacos...
What place?
Houston, tx has the dopest mexican food Eddie.
I want to know what the name of the song at 1:55 is

east coast mexicans ftw tho
I have to ask why he has an asian showing him around a mexican area?
Roy is LA to the core
Trust me devin DC will never compared to Mexican food bro, is not even close.
Chicharon is everywhere in ny by dominican n Puerto Ricans wtf is he talking about
Yeah, in Jersey, Philly and in Delaware too. Any place with real bodegas has that. That's no West coast exclusive stuff.
VICE OP!!!!!
name of the first restaurant? his spanish is very bleh lol
I hate how Roy says "west coast shit right here" because California's Mexican communities aren't as authentic as Texas's. No discussion.
That's silly to say.
Bro honestly those tacos looked good but not that good, this guy needs to get a Mexican to show him mexican food
Guisados is one particular type of taco and if you've been there they are bomb.... And trust easy la? True Mexican
Once again malorie, tx still will it compete with LA regarding Mexican food it just won't trust me. Being Boricua/mex I fucking love SoCal but I also crave my rican food from the east.
ur puerto rican and mexican mix? thats gotta be interesting
Puerto Rican and Mexican look mean af but somehow that shit attracts me more to them lol

Kinda a reach to put yourself on the same level as Roy Choi...
eddie says the same things every video. once i noticed that it kinda ruined the whole series for me
First
