Kawai just needs new circuitry, transmission fluid, an oil change and he'll be fine. Just like a Japanese car just take care of them and they'll take care of you. Ah ha ha ha
See, I don't think the NBA has a problem with resting stars. I think the NBA has a problem with emphasizing individual players over their entire respective teams
I like it. I would also suggest most of these stars should rest home games. I'm a 76ers fan in Michigan and the Sixers really only come here once or twice a year. The last 2 games I went, Embiid sat out. So frustrating.
@@christopherchan5245 yeah but America is by far the nost culturally important country. Its like saying they only call it soda NYC but pop everywhere else (Louisville, Springfield IL and East St Louis)
The biggest problem in the NBA is how players take paycuts to try to win championships. If players treated the market properly and went where the money is, the teams would be more even. Games would be a lot more intense and load management would be seen much less since any team could win any given night. Good luck fixing that chief.
Hockey, a much more intense and physically demanding sport, has just as many games and many many more back to backs, but the only time you see a player sitting out is if they are actually injured. Why do NBA players feel so entitled that they can sit out for no reason while making more money at the same time just to run around with a ball.
they could very easily resolve the load management issue by scheduling the days off in advance for players so people would know that their favorite players they want to pay to see will not be playing and thus not getting conned/ripped off...but of course they will never even consider doing that because they would literally have 0 fans in the seats across the league....also they could just play the stars for half of the game along with scheduling them so fans know....this is the best option available...at least that I could think of that actually shows that the teams/league actually give a rat's ass about their fans instead of giving the people that are responsible for them even being able to have the opportunity to play as a job....but in reality they wont ever make a compromise and would rather deceive fans
I don't mind load management but to fix the disappointed fan issue. The NBA should require teams/players to release who's gonna sit out with in 2 to 3 days before game. It would give fans who bought tickets time to not buy them, exchange them for for a different game, or sell them online.
This is a dumb solution: a fan of a player should be a fan of the team too, and they should want to see their team win when it counts (he playoffs) no matter what. If it's really a problem, shorten the season or shorten the playoffs (or both!)
even without sitting games big stars are playing less and less minutes slacking on D is a constant in the regular season too put simply we just have to accept that an 82 game season is far too long to expect people to play every game at their best and because that isnt changing any time soon, well not in any meaningful way we just have to enjoy the regular season as it is or wait for the playoffs where players actually show up
@@im_waffles2920 The league requires each team to play most of their roster, 4 out of 8 times. (That includes stars) Either cut pre-season games down to just 4, or get rid of it all together. Eight games is too much (imo)
But don't teams adjust their load management depending on how they are sitting as finals loom? Maybe LAL would be resting LBJ near the end of the season, but if in danger of losing a seed or something they would want to load their team with all the stars in the final week of the regular season
Teams should not be allowed to rest their stars in road games, only home ones. Resting stars in road games hurts the fans who don’t get many chances to see certain players very frequently. Well, unless a play-off spot is locked in. Then it’s fine.
I Missed seeing LeBron James play in the Staples Center last year(Don't get me started on ticket price) Because of Load Management. Guess I should go see 'em again before the Playoffs...
All that will happen is teams will fake injuries on the report to continue to load manage as usual. Either shorten the schedule to 62 games (1 home, 1 away is good enough anyways), completely eliminate back to backs or, maybe, idk, dont be a fairweather fan and if you go to a game to see X player, understand that it's a risk that they might not play?
I don’t understand how the NBA needs load management but the NHL doesn’t. NHL season is a lot more physical than the NBA season and players play equal minutes to NBA starters
hockeymaster306 even though I think load management is garbage, you do need to consider that nba players are oversized people. The stress put on their limbs and joints, as well as the inner organs, is far greater than that of an average sized person. I think the spirit of the games are to play every single time you are eligible. And if you are injured, that’s natural. None of that player with a broken leg is allowed to go out and score one more time for a new record shit.
I talked about this topic 1st in my podcast! Check it out! Listen to Episode 31: NBA Load Management by Doster Roster on #SoundCloud soundcloud.com/dosterroster/episode-31-nba-load-management
If Nikola jokic has to sit out some games so he's fresh in the playoffs. Im cool with that. The Spurs in 2014 destroyed the Heat who didnt load manage any of their, with freshed leg, well rested superstars and great ball movement. FeelsGoodMan
All I’m saying is the NHL doesn’t practice this and they also play 82 games in roughly the same time span. NBA players are soft. Change my mind!!! NHL>NBA
In a faster and far more violent sport. To be fair, no one is playing anything more than half (at most) the 48-minute length of an NBA game in the NHL, and at that more than about a minute at a time. The players who do usually require rest at some point, or at least reduced ice time, before their production drops off and the possibility of injury increases.
If load management is important to teams and they say they've got it figured out, then they should be able to give a 2 week or so heads up...edit, ok well he just said pretty much the same thing
Well when ur a knicks fan like me, there is no need for worrying about when u go to an NBA game that ur fav player wont be playing, bc we missed out on KD and Kyrie, and our best player is JULIUS FUCKING RANDLE anyway.
The one problem I have with the NBA regular season is that teams can mess around and still make the playoffs. A couple of losses here and there won't hurt that much.
So resting players is the most biggest problem even though there isn't a lot of conclusive evidence but the guys flopping around like soccer players where does that rank? #6 maybe?
Id much rather Lebron sit out a game I go to because he's really in need of rest than have him go out and break his fucking leg. I know its harsh but honestly the solution is to just get over it because these players do need rest. We can pick apart specifics as to how each team performed but that doesnt change the undisputable scientific fact that athletes NEED to rest.
Lmao that “schedule” idea is crap. I highly doubt owners and venue owners will allow fans to know when certain games aren’t gonna be there, resulting in ticket prices and ticket sales plummeting for those games. Was a good video until then
The NBA biggest problem is it's toxic fanbase. I see much more comradarie in NFL and MLB discussions.Too many NBA "fans" are egregious in not caring about the regular season, actually learning the rules/how the game works and especially not caring about history. It's all bitching and whining from people who barely study the game and act like they know all they need to know. Only in basketball do you hear phrases like "yeah he was great against mailmen and mechanics" or have multiple people saying "nice travel" on every single dribble move. (Equivalent to every single NFL drive clip having dozens of people just comment shit like "obvious hold on 57 this league is a joke") 🤦♂️

Phillip Rivers has no clue what load management is.
Sighed,

I get the argument against load management but at the same time Derrick Rose probably wishes it existed during his first few seasons.

Heh heh heh. “Management.”
I think shortening the season and dropping 3 or four teams would make the league better.
It happens in football all the time though... it’s really not an issue. And most leagues only have 38 games, compared to 82.

Per Embiid, you should adjust counting stats by the pace of play. Playoffs are always played more deliberately.

My solution would just be to give control of Commissioner, competition director, or whoever is in charge of the rules in the hands of Jeff Van Gundy.

The NBA needs a hard cap space. Period. End of discussion.
Kawhi isn’t doing load management. It’s injury management with quadricep tendinopathy.
Ok but there’s a difference between kawhi sitting out every back to back and teams resting star players against shitty teams once they clinch
19th and Aaron Gordon got robbed!
262nd and yes
Considering the cash that is being doled out....play the games!
Another part of the solution: healthy players MUST be available for non-conference road games (i.e. Warriors games in Boston)
Does my guy own Manscape like holy shit
I'm enjoying all this rip city footage. At least, until it reminded me of this season's injuries. Fuck every thing.
I feel like this would just cause a bunch of players to pretend to have minor injuries throughout the season
NHL players play an 82 gmae schedule. They dont rest for load management if they are healthy they just play.
