    Hey Guys,
    What a shame that Greg Oden didn't pan out because of injury?
    Crazier that Kevin Durant became a legend...What if Oden didn't have two different sized legs?

      Guys, even if he did did pan out, do you really think he would be better than KD? Would he win MVP? Or carry his team to a championship? I don't think so because the NBA was transitioning from dominant big men in that time, big mistake by the Blazers, this is just as bad as Portland selecting Bowie over MJ, cause with Clyde Drexler they had an excuse in 1984, but none in 2007.

      I had micro fracture surgery when I was 23ish.. I could pretty easily dunk and was fairly athletic. Micro fracture surgery is no fucking joke. I cannot even explain to you the difference in explosion. I went from feeling like 10ft rim was like..really low (I know this sounds weird now but I'm getting there) to after the surgery when looking at the rim of same height to honestly looking like it's 2ft higher. It's insane..your brain will like literally correct itself for your new un-athleticism. It will see that 10ft hoop and basically send warning signs that "you can't do that anymore". I could of course still jump and grab the rim..but I couldn't come close to dunking. For people who think once you're grabbing rim you're close to dunking....It's more like..when you can start to grab rim you have another 6-8 inches to go. I had a pretty serious ankle and foot injury before...and that shit didn't take away from my vertical at all...In fact somehow I came back from that surgery and was able to jump higher...But microfracture surgery..I now don't understand how ANYBODY ever comes back from that looking anything like they use to. But most don't anyway... TLDR: Microfracture surgeries are the worst.

    I honestly think he would've worked out if it weren't for the whole different sized legs thing. He was very quick and strong and even had a little shooting in his game. Kevin Durant was also very weak. This is not an understatement, go ahead and look it up. This was a league where strength still mattered a lot. Also durant's defense was called into question, everyone knew that oden was very good at defense. (Also Kevin Durant said he was 6'7 or 6'9 so he could play small forward, so the whole height thing wasn't taken into account)

    I’m probably one of the few that thought Durant was the better prospect. I remember watching him ball out in the McDonalds game. Then I saw him play at Texas and be just as great. I also thought that someone with that height and versatility was rare and better. I also know a little about physical therapy. Oden having different size legs meant knee and/or back problems his entire career. I said the same about Jared Sullinger, who has the same issue. I did not predict the foot issues though. People may not believe me, but I called it. Being from the Midwest, this was not a popular opinion, but I stuck with it

      he was clearly a better prospect. The league just have a obsession on a big man with good body and athleticism. KD is a very very unique athlete but the scouts are dumb because they thoughts his frail body cant handle the Nba. KD literally almost swept Evey single individual awards in college and they still had Oden #1 LOL

    • @frankernest3712
      @frankernest3712 Рік тому +1

      @@drewmark3549 KD was the first freshman to win ALL the player of the year awards. I think scouts were enamored with how good Oden was when he came back from that wrist injury, even though he didn’t look like he was 100% healed. I also remember wondering why it was even a question of who should have been the first pick that year. The red flags with Oden should have made him fall in the draft and that isn’t hindsight. Those team doctors that evaluated him had to know about the great potential injury with him, even he hand not had a major knee issue yet. NBA basketball is way more punishing on the joints than any other level of professional basketball

    Oden was by the best player in that draft class. Much better than KD was at that time. Unfortunately due to injury which happens all the time he never made it. He fell apart before his carear ever started. And durant became not only the best to come out of that draft class but also one of the best scorers the nba has ever seen before. But like i said this is way to common. MJ wasnt the number one draft pick in his rookie class and he went on to be arguably the best player in NBA history. Kobe Bryant didnt even get drafted in top 10 in his rookie class. Kawahi Leonard another one not even drafted by a team in the lottery thats how late he went in draft. The list goes on and on. This happens year in and year out. Thats how a team like the spurs who have arguably the best scouts in the game are able to draft players year after year that are able to come in to the league and contribute on the nba level despite being drafted late in 1st round and these players are being passed on by 20 other teams. And the reason is there not being drafted after playing only 1 year 2 years max in college so there realy being picked based on being top high school player in the country year earlier and based on what they expect them to grow into. How many number 1 picks only played a few college games cause of injury. So there being drafted based on expectations. Were the spurs are drafted players with 3 or 4 years college experience and are drafted them based on what they accomplished already in college and know there what there bringing to table immediately and what they can improve on and are capable of improving on which a good scout can see by watching them play at college level for a few years were they cant see can only predict when there one and done based on small sample size in high school. Big difference but thats how they get guys like Kawhi Leonard that turn out to be so successful. Which is how there capable of staying ontop year in and year out. U can only do so much making trades and signing free agents cause that's expensive and only gives u a few pieces to be deep u need a few more pieces at a cheaper price which means getting them through the draft which means not being a top team so u can get a lottery pick or it means having great scouts like spurs do so they can stay ontop and still be successful in the draft by getting talent out of a 20 somthing pick. Which there great at

This man would make Joel Embiid cry. All you need to know about how good Greg was was finding the video of his first NBA points.
