@Harry Engel thatd be weird as fuck because Calvin johnson was 4 years old when barry sanders started playing in detroit. i dont think he would have been as effective as a 4 year old
Lion are the worst franchise in all pro sports. Nothing will change as long as the Ford family owns it. One playoff win in 63 years. “Rebuilding since 1957”.
Good film. I think that Jim Benton's 303 yd outing is still in the top 5 and that was done in 1945 which I think says it all. Would love to see something similar on Norn Van Brocklin's 554 passing yards. I think I read that his opposition that day (the New York Yanks - yes really) were recruiting for players outside the stadium on the day of the game. But that may be a myth. Warren Moon in Oilers Run'n'shoot days got the ball back with 537 yards, but spoilsport coaches opted to run out the clock on the ground. By the way Moon's opponents were the Chiefs with 3 Pro Bowlers in their secondary!
True story. I was watching "Perfect Storm" with some friends and we were watching George going back and forth on that boom. After about the 60th time, I yelled out "Why did they put this in, everybody died and nobody knows what happened". I had studied the storms since I am a climat buff. Everyone looked at me as if I had spoiled the movie. It would have been better if they had cows doing the stunts since they milked it for everything.
That's not a completely unbreakable record... When I think of UNBREAKABLE records, I think of any of Wayne Gretzky's records. Like his all time points record. He has ~2800 points(goals+assists), while the person in second is Jaromir Jagr, who played 20ish seasons, and is still 1000 points shy. That is an unbreakable record, while this is a record that will be very hard to break.
That perfect storm scenario is not the only possibility. In the last game of the regular season one team might be out of the playoffs and send their practice squad to play for a high draft pick, the other also saves their main QB/WR to protect them from injury, but have ambitious and high quality backups. All of a sudden you have a 98-0 blowout and all kinds of records fall in the process.
Great Video, and Im a Saints fan, so that game didnt go the way I had hoped lol, but that was a picture of Hurricane Katrina, you shoulda used a different storm to have as a visual.
The problem with Anderson's record is that it involved an OT period where he gained 40+ yards. Stephone Paige nor Johnson didn't have an OT period. Not taking away from Anderson but records like this should be split into two categories.
I still remember the week before the Cowboys-Lions Game. the Cowboys were incessantly sh** talking about how good their offense will be and so forth... bottomline: Megatron had more yards than the whole Cowboys Offense *playRisitaslaughter*
Bengals and Cowboys (when Dak was playing) could have had chances to set this up this year. Both had many games with large defecits, decently accurate QB's, and capable receivers. Dak was breaking records this year because they were so far behind their opponents were playing garbage time, prevent defenses for second halves of games.
Idk I feel like it would have to be against a team with a bad defense, but a good offense that can keep up. Other wise the team will take their foot off the throttle and run the ball
The chiefs got shut down in Super Bowl after their great performance in week 12. It’s really strange how bad they played in the Super Bowl. The injuries on the line were really bad I guess and Mahomes toe was really fucked up. It’s just really surprising.
You know I have a great idea for a video for you, NFL players who wore the same number on the same team. Not at the same time but in different years. Example: Billy Sims was a great rb for the Lions in the 1980's and wore the number 20. However, most remember Barry Sanders as the one who wore the number for the lions. I actually made an entire list is you are interested.
While the New York Football Giants don't have a great record this season, but at least they ain't the sorry excuse of a football team in the New York J-E-T-S who are 3 games away from going 0-16 (with the Cleveland Browns, Los Angeles Rams and the New England Patriots left) oh by the way UT is pist again his Steelers lost to Buffalo 26 to 15
I love how you show the QB stats in the Megatron game but not Megatron's stats. Dude was only 8 yards away from breaking the record. Also no one will break his single season yards record.
If anyone could of got 400 in a game it would of been Moss or Megatron simple as that But some people don’t want to break records, look at 2009 Patriots vs titans, Brady could of easily broke the td record, but sat out the 2nd half considering his team was winning 45-0 by the end of the first half..... He did break the record for most tds in a quarter with 5.....
Satan: I have a special punishment for you. Human: What is it? S: You will be reincarnated as a football player... H: That's not so bad. S: ...for the Lions. H: NO GOD PLEASE NOT THE LIONS ANY OTHER TEAM THAN THE LIONS WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE SO FUCKING CRUEL!?!?!?
Part of recovering from a Lions addiction is to expect the worst, learn to laugh at it and not ruin your day when they blow another one. The only hope is to live a really long time and maybe if we are lucky the Ford family will have a flash of civic minded insight and sell the team.
300+ yard receiving games are gonna become more and more common with the pass - happy NFL, so I HIGHLY doubt this record stands forever. In fact I bet it gets broken in the next 10 years.
Calvin Johnson: one of the greatest receivers in recent memory
Also Calvin Johnson: played for the lions 🙃

Megatron was a beast. Saw plenty of him in a family with Lions fans. Might never be another one like him.

Me during a Madden Franchise: Oh really?
i be getting 800 rec yards a game
I got bored and passed to this Undrafted kid who had 25 catches 7 tds and like 600 yards
I can get the rec td record, but never yards
Do you know what's a Record that will never be broken? A win for the Lions in 2008
What about the browns with winning 1 game in 2 full seasons
And the browns
The Detroit franchise needs to be evicted from the league. Boot out the Jets and Chargers for good measure.

@Harry Engel true but there is a chiefs wr who averages 22 yards per catch.
@Harry Engel its just a joke he only has one catch
I think ALL of Jerry Rice's career receiving records won't get broken.
In particular the total TD's and receiving yards not gonna be broken. Career Receptions Larry Fitz has an outside chance in 2023
DK Metcalf: hold my beer
but how many pregnant women and toddlers did Rice bust?

Yes they will. They will move to 17 or 18 games per season and relax the rules on passing even more.

People also forget megaton was facing the worst defense of 2013
This from the guy who said no Super Bowl would ever go into overtime only months before Super Bowl 51.
Don’t worry, as we forgive you.
I will always be amazed that Detroit ruined the careers of two all-time bests (Sanders and Megatron)
It would be more amazing if the Lions win a playoff game more often than once every 63 years
You should do hit, ok or miss on nfl draft classes
That perfect storm scenario is not the only possibility. As a Lions fan I must say, the few times I met Calvin in real life, he was a great guy. I miss em
He and Barry Sanders have a lot of class and they deserved much better.
Love the writing on this channel. I would compare it to The Family Guys cutaway skits if only Peter Griffin Manscaped.
Your absolutely right, they couldn't know what happened on that boat. The crew could have been angry and threw the captain overboard for all we know
Just fyi Megatron holds the record for most receiving yards in a regulation length game.
I also mention Paige in this since he held the record before Anderson and held the regulation record until Megatron.

Hey that's not true. Victor Cruz broke the single-game record in 2012, but I forgot to save my game.
Texans vs Jaguars game in 2012 saw Justin Blackmon with 236 receiving yards for Jacksonville and Andre Johnson with 273 receiving yards for Houston
Jesus. Justin Blackmon.
