600ft Tall Calving Glacier causes Massive Wave to WIPE OUT BEACH

- Because we spent so many hours in front of this massive 600ft tall glacier hoping & praying that there was be an epic calving event & a giant wave would come our way this situation didn't seem that scary when it first happened. However, once I realized the danger we had put ourselves in the entire day leading up this this event I looked at the whole situation differently. Alaska was an amazing journey & one of the best surf trips of my life. Thank you for making it great! - Ben

Well I'm glad everyone survived with no major injuries and that Blair caught an epic wave! Would be really depressing if you all missed it. As my very good friend Steve used to say "Some days you eat the bear. Other days the bear eats you." Sorry you missed it Ben but good on you finding a way to look at it that gives you peace! Your little buddy Dennis sure was happy to see you (and I'm sure Jordan too!).
This was a truly epic journey! My only complaint is BE MORE CAREFUL!! I can't be the only one that was a little worried when you didn't post for a couple days, but to now see how close you actually came to disaster is even worse. So glad you're alive to tell the tale. For the dream!!!

Thank God! I’ve got chills. You took the best perspective on the outcome, and no matter which way you slice it this was one INCREDIBLE adventure. Adventures like these change your life forever. So glad things worked out the way they did. As a kayaker I know the feeling of being in flow with nature and things are butter, to the sudden struggle for life in an instant when something goes wrong. Sometimes looking back on the situation you just made it out of things feel surreal, like you know you were on the edge of death but now you are warm and safe in your beanie and it just feels a bit strange. Call it blessed, call it luck, call it skill, it’s a feeling that sticks with you forever when you know you were just about dead. Respect nature, respect life, be safe and take wisdom from the experience. You da man Mr. Gravy

Another way for mother nature to take U out in the water. Excellent photography and respect for having a go ,U sure do things a bit close to the edge for me ,I'm not even gonna pretend I could travel there and attempt that. So glad U guys got out unscathed. Without the pun that was pretty Kool.

I think you need to get on your hands and knees and thank God you all came home alive. I never even heard of ice surfing before today. I have tried but I can’t see anything fun about this. I am glad you are all safe and able to get back to your families. Now try a less dangerous sport like skydiving (sarcasm). You are lucky to have a wife to support you in this. 😮😮😮

That was just dumb luck, being in the wrong place at the right time, but then getting the heck out of Dodge before the big event. These were really cool videos, from the extremely dynamic environment of the glacier front. One hazard that you did not mention is that the impact of the ice onto the water surface generates a splash that hurls 250 pound blocks hundreds of feet beyond the splash zone. A 60-quart Yeti-cooler sized on a ballistic path will really ruin your day. Glad every body is okay.
